Finally got some sleep after a few days of insomnia. I'm still getting over the crud. Our only plan for the holiday so far is "early dinner" with my Mom at her retirement community. Poor Celia! There's nothing that wakes me up faster than the sound of a cat gagging! Bess--I liked hearing your strategy in approaching a big restaurant meal. Tomorrow we're going to a Brazilian steakhouse to celebrate a brother-in-law's birthday. There's a huge "salad" bar that has many more foods than salad, and then they bring meats to the table and serve you until you tell them to stop. Having been there before at least I know what to expect and can formulate a strategy. I will still overeat, but I aim to overeat only things I really enjoy. I really hate overeating "meh" food.

Happy Fourth, all! Between two new (to me) workout classes at the office gym yesterday and going for a run/walk this morning, I'm SORE (but it's a good hurt). Yesterday was good for food and exercise; drank a bit more wine than I had planned, though. And it felt good to get some sleep finally, though the cat woke me up barfing for the second morning in a row in the wee hours.
Bess, thanks for the recommendation for the Barbeque Exchange. We can stop there next time we head to Horton Winery.

Good morning team! It is almost 10 am here and the kids and DH are still asleep! BUMS! I do enjoy my quiet time in the mornings though. Just got in from a three mile run. It was beautiful out and there were lots of others out enjoying the neighborhood. Everyone smiled and spoke. It was heaven!
My 5 lb vacation gain is not budging. I'm eating/drinking way too much. Really need to focus.
Everyone have a great day! Be careful!

Morning everyone and happy 4th! I'm not sure what I'll be doing today (if anything), but I'm trying to keep my food planning for today flexible in case we go to a party. I'm also about to do a nice long workout this morning (some Bollywood dancing) to help make up for not getting in a lot of activity earlier in the week when I was traveling.
Have a great day!

HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY Team! Hope everyone enjoys their holiday. I got to sleep in a little this morning, which accounts for my late check in. I actually don't sleep in because I have dogs and a cat who won't allow it, but I did get to enjoy a cup of coffee and a cup of oatmeal with cottage cheese and then an extra hour and a half nap, so for me, that's as close as it gets. Sweet, sweet way to start a day! Got a work out in before work yesterday and then a hills and drills class after work. My feet are killing me today, so just going to do some ST and abs between the various little chores etc and welcoming my sis and family. If the pain subsides, I may do a slow run down to the fireworks here in town and then ride back with the family afterwards. Eating light till they get here so for dinner we can do some sweet potatoes on the grill with some grilled veggies and assorted hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken breast etc for dinner with a salad. Then everyone can get what they want and there should be extra left for leftovers tomorrow while I work. My older sis hit the grocery store and came home with WAY too much sugar based food. Going to have to be careful and avoid the trap. Little sis is not going to be happy. She's a body builder and physical trainer and works very hard at trying to keep her family on a healthier diet. Could get interesting!

Happy 4th of July. Yesterday as a hot day for a race. I was sweating before we began. It was tough but we did it. Enjoyed cooling off in the pool last night but regretted taking an energy drink before the race. I am not used to caffeine anymore and did not get much sleep. Next 5 days are suppose to be beautifully hot in the 90's. In the process of cleaning and purging the house to get it ready to sell.

Thanks everyone, for your kind words - that was just what I was talking about - how supportive this group is to everyone. So Welcome to you, Sparkchick - you're gonna love this group. I spent a long day in the car yesterday and in the city too. Caught up with my sister to confer with the care-giving team at Mama's nursing home. Mama was bright and alert and while we were in conference I gave her my iPad mini with a Kaleidoscope app on it. She was enthralled that she could make such designs even with her palsied hands. She's 90 now.
Himself also had city chores to do so we went together. He'd read a review about a restaurant in Gordonsville, VA, the Barbecue Exchange, who's Culinary Institute-trained chef was developing Virginia based sauces, so we drove the extra 80 mile round trip to check it out - and was it ever worth it. Yes. I ate high on the hog yesterday but I'd looked up calorie/points possibilities and pre-tracked a fairly hefty amount - and after I got home I added MORE to the tracker. AND I stopped eating after the two bites of dessert I'd planned for. So though it was a BIG meal - it was not an out of control one.
today the only plan is to swim and canoe and go to a neighbor's to watch fireworks - but we will also read the Declaration of Independence out loud - which we do every July 4th. Have a good one, y'all.
Heading home from family visit. Cooked dinner for the family here and had lots of snuggle time with my new grandson. Also took the two older children out for several hours to give my daughter in law some rest time. We ended the day around a healthy meal. A pretty complete day by any standard of mine, and boy, did I sleep well!
Happy birthday to the US!

I spent the morning visiting the patients at the Koala Hospital, then we drove about 150 km heading north - so while my calories are close to in range, my walking is way low. (About 1.5 miles for the day - not good.)
Hi All, Happy Fourth of July for all that celebrate. I am going to walk the dog. I will go to see a movie and walk around an air conditioned store with Mom. I had my food planned out today for me and Mom. We are having a dog hot and water melon. Listening to the concert on television tonight. Best wishes on this great day. Linda from bean town
Way overate yesterday. I ate sensibly all day and made myself full before going to a friend's house for their town's July 3rd fireworks show. We can sit on her deck and see them. I still ate many of the snacks even though I was full! But it could have been worse.
This morning DH and I are decorating our motorcycles in preparation for riding in a local 4th of July parade. The group may come by our house afterward. Going to have a sensible eating day today.
I hope everyone who celebrates has a safe and happy 4th!
Good morning team and welcome to new members! No need to worry that you're not "at goal" yet as this team welcomes those who are "transitioning" to goal, too. Shucks, sometimes it feels like I'm still transitioning as much as my weight fluctuates. Lol
Happy Independence Day to those of us celebrating! I did a SP video and will be doing a lot if walking as we attend a parade and party today. I will be mindful in my eating!!
