The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of dynamic people. Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings. Through the Internet we are learning about and communicating with people of different nations, with different languages and different races throughout the world. Bringing the world closer with understanding and knowledge can only benefit all nations.

I'm close to goal and would like to join this group. Last time I got to goal, I let stress get to me and I gained 10 or so lbs. back. This time I'm doing this the smart way, joining achievers who got to goal and remained there. This morning I did 10 minutes of Pilates and was on the treadmill for 45. Been counting calories and have been in range for a while now. Hope to reach goal within a few months. (I'm a slow loser.) Hope you don't mind if I join you guys.
Aw Toni...congratulations. I expect you had the best day of us all yesterday! I'm still getting over my illness. Had another night of insomnia. Calories OK, but low on protein, in part because we decided to go out on the boat after my husband got home from work, so dinner was a sandwich and chips picked up at the store across from the marina. I left half the bread but ate way too many chips.

Thanks for the kind words about the SparkRadio interview! The last two days, I have been over on calories, but I tracked faithfully, and neither day was a blowout. I have also not had much activity lately, but yesterday I went to a "core and more" class at the work gym, and I just eked out 10,000 steps by the end of the day. Like Besshaile, I need more activity, so today I will go to two classes, a body sculpt class and a balance yoga class. The balance yoga class has a long, fast-paced vinyasa segment, so it really gets the heart rate up. Finally, I'll find opportunities to walk so I make my steps.

I'm seeing that most of you maintainers are doing at least 2 activities/workouts/runs/walks a day and it's becoming clear to me that I need to do that too. My active link monitor (like a fitbit) has registered low for days now and I know it's because I'm only getting in one 30-45 minute workout a day. That's not enough for me to meet my personal goals. got to figure out a better schedule if I want to meet those goals of mine.
I didn't join the team's summer challenge because I'm not altogether sure I want to stay at my original goal weight. My original weight choice was for a taller woman and while I'm still within a healthy bmi I'm also still considering dropping a wee bit more. Yesterday's weigh in showed that I had dropped 2 lbs and I think I may let go of 6 more.
But I plan to stay with this team because you are ALL SUCH SUPER INSPIRING KIND FUN PEOPLE! this has become my favorite team of all.
Off today and tomorrow - but work Friday and Saturday. Such is summer when you're a public servant.

I really enjoyed Spark radio interviewing our team mate, Celia yesterday. She talked about mindfulness, meditation and yoga on her healthy lifestyle journey. These are things that have been important to me too, and I wondered if others here are using these strategies? I swear my whole fitness routine and food vigilance is so much better when I am regular with yoga, in particular.

Morning team - calories yesterday were over (I know, I know, HALT!). At least I didn't OD on sugar, but still too much of a good thing is not a good thing. Today will be another long one. Heading out in a couple minutes for the walk/run with homelessness transistion folks, then work 9-6, then straight to Hills and Drills, then home to get some more chores done for company visit. Probably getting up early to continue to prep for visitors tomorrow. Will get to enjoy their company on the 4th, then work 9-6 on the 5th and off for Sat and Sunday. Hope that all of you have wonderful plans for your holiday weekends.

I'm headed to the gym for 30 min elliptical and 60 min R.I.P.P.E.D. class, my usual Wednesday morning routine, but it's always a tough one. DH say he is going to lead DD and me in one of his Art of Strength workouts over our 4 day weekend, which begins after work today! Since the River is flooded, we will be heading to DD's, attending a party and watching the parade.
