I'm a day late, but this is an excellent article on how to get over that hangover feeling.

I find drinking lots of water helps. I try to remember how "this" feels when I've done similarly. Just take it easy today and listen to your body! Hang in there!

I would say listen to your body. If you are not hungry, don't eat. And I think there is no such thing as sugar in moderation.

OOLALA- perfect, I was already planning on having an egg white omelette with veggies. I am seriously craving meat right now... having an Atlantic salmon salad later too.

Hi All, Yes, when my children were young I would do the same thing and over eat. I eat the left overs and not throw it out or put it away from another day. You can freeze cake and bring it out another day for the kids dessert. It is okay to treat yourself and the kids one day. You will be able to get back on track. I also know Moms that feed the kids and only drink a glass of lemonade. They were the skinny ones and threw away the cake after the party. I do not know of a sugar detox, but you can see if you can do without any sugar. Then when you have any it will taste bad to you. I have tried for moderation and not completely done without it. My friend is a diabetic however, and can not have sugar and must inject insulin into herself. I am thankful not to be a diabetic. I try to stay away from sugar but it is in a lot of food you eat everyday. Linda from bean town

It doesn't actually matter that much, but I probably wouldn't even have carbs at my next meal, unless they were veggies. I know that sounds crazy but I would probably have just vegetables in soup broth. It's the only thing that sounds good when I'm in that state. Alternately, if the weather is warmer, I might have a green smoothie (but I eat it like soup, with a spoon. Slows me down and is more filling.) Just go back to your routine with perhaps smaller meals until your appetite returns.

All part of it. I hope you enjoyed the cake while you ate it!

Oh, I didn't mean some fad "detox"... I just meant limiting my sugar intake. Thanks for the advice though, that's the exact same reason I avoid alcohol. I'm sure I can apply it to sugar.

Detox, no, but trust your body to flush it out by giving it the healthy foods and drinks that will bring you back to balance. And even more importantly, REMEMBER HOW THIS FEELS. This will help you say "No to overdosing on sugar" and "yes, to a small piece in moderation" the next time a "cake" occasion occurs. The more you do this, the more you will create new pathways in your brain, or better habits, for a more healthy life. Best wishes to you!

I don't but i know how your feeling and hope it goes away fast. Eating breakfast will help as i know it does for me, especially the oats.

It was my daughter's 3rd birthday yesterday and I've eaten too much birthday cake! I feel like I have a hangover this morning, ugh... what have I done to myself? I'm groggy, tired, my eyes are dry and heavy, I have a mild headache... loud noises from new toys *covers ears*. I don't feel like eating breakfast, although I know I should because it will probably make me feel better. Right now I'm staring down a bowl of overnight steel cut oats with almond butter, flaxseed, Greek yogurt, blueberries and banana and can't seem to bring myself to take a bite. Drinking water instead. I've skipped my morning working out, my energy is zapped. Not a big deal, I workout too much anyway. Planning on take a walk later today to hopefully help with the bloat.

I need a sugar detox! Anyone know of anything helpful to cope with a sugar hangover?
