I had a difficult time on Saturday - feeling sorry for myself and a bit of a cookie binge...it's over now, and I'm feeling in control, ready to get back to my normal eating and activity.

Going on a bike ride this afternoon....this morning, cleaning house, laundry - finally getting to hang my clothes on the line! I'm hoping to get some weeding in the flower bed as well.

Our weather finally looks good today! Not easy to stay upbeat when it snows near the end of April. But today looks to be a wonderful spring day!

Motivated and ready to get back to business!

~Nancy

Better late than never...just got home after 6 hours on the road making my way back from my out of town work project. Had a great visit with my daughter and granddaughter complete with a fancy dinner out - a special treat for my 6 year old granddaughter who felt very grown up on her overnight with the 'girls'. Did not too badly with nutrition last night but today was a different story. Glad I am able to avoid these days most of the time but it was fun to find some really good gluten free pizza on the menu at our lunch spot today....had it for lunch and then as my dinner on the road. First day my calorie count has been up since I started maintenance and only 1 day :)
We did an hour hike on a mountain trail in the morning and I did another hour throughout the day which felt good. Am now needing to work on a few project wrap up tasks and then to bed. I am tired.

I am so happy the bombing suspect was captured. I feel free to go outside and walk my little doggie. I bought pansies and will put them on my front steps. I am hoping for warmer weather and no copy cat bombings. We have other out door events in the city. Linda from bean town

Nancy, sorry about your husband's job. Never a good time....

Venise, ugh for your travel woes!

Wonderful day today. Cool and breezy, but we enjoyed it anyway. We're both morning people, so even though we went out to a somewhat late dinner last night, we were still up by 6.

Glad you made it home safe. Also, thinking of you Nancy. We had a scheduled power outage so I took the younger kids on errands with me. McDonald's to use the wifi (I had a grilled chicken sandwich and split fries with the toddler), thrift store, and library. Now the power is back.

I should clean up my dining room.

Oh yeah, I guess that was the SLC marathon being run today. In the past I would have been annoyed that traffic was stopped, but instead I thought "good for them!" I didn't realize that was today. I just saw a lot of cops and turned to get around it, but they were on the next mile too, and they were escorting runners. Then I looked it up on the news.

Was up for 30 hours before finally making it home yesterday from our vacation. First flight from Phoenix was delayed, ran to our connecting flight in Dallas only to find out our flight to Boston had been cancelled. Ran from terminal to terminal heading to Boston on standby to no avail so dh rented a room in TX &had scheduled an early flight the next day to laguardia, ny where he also rented a car from but my folks & I really didn't want to drive. So thankful that at our last standby flight an american airlines attendent was able to book a flight for us to Washington Dulles late that night and scheduled an early flight to Boston on Jet blue for us. I stood guard while the family slept a few hours. When one awoke I had them stand guard while I explored the airport and found a jet blue terminal to find out no one would be working there until 5am. So I returned to let them sleep some more and then was able to get our actual tickets to Boston. While waiting we were watching the news and shed a tear or 2 when I saw the FAA announcement on all flights banned to Boston. So not much exercize today and lots of rest for me but very thankful to be home and that the marathon terrorists have been caught.

Nancy, sorry to hear of your husbands job loss.. I too hope something will turn up quickly for him.

Lots of rain and flooding!! I feel fortunate to live in an area where severe weather isn't an issue.

I tried a jog/walk again yesterday and did pretty good.. boy it sure is harder than it looks and uses such different muscles than cycling and walking.. it really makes me see how important cross training is. Bess, my border collie loves the jogging!! more so in an area she gets to run free me..

Have a wonderful Saturday folks.. we are off to the beach for a beach stroll with the dogs this morning then a bit of shopping.

Job loss is frightening for the whole family. I hope he finds something better soon and you can get your life back on a more even keel. I got to sleep in until ALMOST 8. It isn't sailing weather, so I'm hoping to get busy on my sewing. I'm looking forward to my meat CSA delivery tomorrow. It's my second share and I'm really pleased. Bonus: grass fed beef is lower in calories than grain fed! emoticon

I'm so sorry to hear your news Nancy. I hope he finds something better very quickly.

We had a big storm last night with constant roaring winds. Power went out by 8 o'clock and came on 12 hours later. Phone ... which is a land line ... is still out - a rarity.

This was a week with very little formal exercising so I'm off to town, the gym and the first Farmer's Market of the season. Hope I find some goodies.

May you all have a peace filled weekend.

I slept in till 6:20 whoohooo, happy Saturday!

Sorry about your husband's job Nancy. I hope something wonderful is on deck for him.

I saw the neighborhood I used to live in on the news last night .....under water. It was a bittersweet news night, happy for Boston, sad for my old neighborhood!

I plan to get a run in today for those that cannot run or be active today.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Saturday!

Nancy, so sorry about your husbands job-prayers going up that something opens up for him and that your lives won't be in too much upheaval.

Mine on the other hand has been crazy this week and although I did okay most of the week, it came crashing down yesterdayw with a MAJOR sugar binge. Hoping to get and stay on track beginning today. I'm certain that it was all the stresses of the week and a matter of some overscheduling and not enough rest.

Was supposed to have a race tomorrow, but with all the rainsand flooding of this past week, it was cancelled. Will meet up with my running club instead for a long run on Sunday and then hoepfully with a local runnning store on Monday for a benefit run for Boston. So glad they caught the other terrorist - now the slow recovery work begins for too many who will need our support for a long time to come.

For now, off to work and maybe a little extra rest tonight!

Good morning early birds and team. I slept in this morning. Felt great.

Nancy, I am so sorry your husband's job has been eliminated. Sure hope what's next works for you and your family. I guess all those storms would lead to floods on the river, Maree. I hope there is a pause here in all this rain and that you can get back to your boat soon.

Like everyone, I am so relieved that Boston is out from under siege. What a terribly difficult week. I am thinking today of the victims who are alive and face such long term challenges to recovery and rehabilitation. I've been impressed by all the stories of people who say they are just glad to be alive, even though they have lost limbs and suffered serious injuries.

I plan to be outside and active this weekend. I had a good week but have been stuck inside a lot.

Toni

I'm an early riser - I'm almost always up by 4:30 a.m.....when hubby travels, I usually have my workout in before breakfast. His job was eliminated this week, so I'm going to have to change that around a bit.

It's cold and windy here today, but we have apple trees arriving. So we're going to have to cut down 2 older trees that aren't producing to make room for the new ones. I was hoping we could work in a bike ride, but the wind is too bad. Guess I'll either do a dvd workout or get on the stationary bike or elliptical:(

Lots of spring cleaning I can work on too.

~Nancy

Good morning! I'm up really early, but I went to bed early -- about 7 hrs of sleep. I think I woke up because I'm hungry and because I'm excited: IT'S SATURDAY!! Nothing exciting planned this weekend, just catching up on all the "to do" lists.

I'm glad Boston is returning to safety and wish all well.

My "home away from home" is in flood stage. The Mississippi River normal stage is 12 ft and it has risen to 22 ft and is expected to reach 24 or 25 feet. The dock (and our houseboat) floats up, but the ramp leading to the dock is submerged so we can't get to our boat . It's a bummer, as it will take a while to reach normal stage.

Good luck to all those participating in races this weekend! Hope everyone has some fun and finds a reason to smile!! :))))
