I'm in my first day transitioning into maintenance. It's a rest day today because I'm running a 5K in the morning with my dad and stepmom. It feels so good to get family involved! My stepmom's birthday is about a week after mine, both in early March, and she had this idea of the three of us running a 5K around our birthday, and a 10K around my dad's birthday in August. I love the idea! I found the 5K, which benefits the Rape Crisis Center here in town, and we signed up in December. It'll be the first time I've run with them - they're probably much faster than me, haha! I'm looking forward to it!!

I stepped on the scale this morning after a week of... stress. I'm not sure what to call it. We've lost 2 friends in the last 2 weeks. One to cancer and the other was completely unexpected and of apparent natural cause. I saw her Friday night as we were preparing for a benefit for the friend that passed from cancer. We began planning the benefit while she was alive but her cancer, and we knew it, was invasive and very aggressive. Her benefit turned into a benefit memorial and we were able to raise over $33,000. Pretty impressive for a rural farming community of about 300 people. The friend that passed unexpectedly was very dear to me. I miss her badly.
Anyway, the scale told me I weigh 140. My body likes that weight. It must because we've done too much eating out and because of my injury I haven't exercised regularly in 3 weeks. My goal is 130, but I'll take 140 until life flattens back out.
Take care, all. Enjoy the white, fluffy, fun stuff if you've got it in your yard.

Kim

Lori- I think there is something about being out of your usual routine that could trigger some unhealthy choices--here's to getting things back to normal :)

On the Birthday front--even though he considers his own just another day--he's quite sweet to me for mine, and makes it special (in 2 weeks) and for Valentine's Day--he spoils me :)

Michelle, My hubby says his birthdays are just another day, as well. I'm of the opinion that it is a big deal to have a birthday and want recognition. It's just a legitimate excuse to celebrate, for me!

I had a mini binge last night, but it didn't make me feel bad until this morning, mood wise, though I really had the attitude that it's a new day and I can do better today. Soon my house will be back to normal with house guests leaving next Thursday, and I can get my workout schedule under control. It' s not so bad now, I've finally resolved to get my workouts in in spite of having people around that need my attention.

Thanks, Linda!
I sure hope you are able to find the right strategy soon for relieving your pain. It sounds like you and your doctor have tried quite a few things to no avail--hopefully that means you are closer to the solution!

Happy birthday to your special one Michelle!
A morning of upset stomach, but did my usual power walking with weights 45 min DVD and 40 min of intervals on the elliptical, a light morning of working out for me, as I usually prefer to hit 110 or 120 min, but the stomach was too much :( The old fiber see saw. I eat way too many freggies and my fiber is well over the recommended daily amount :( Its hard to tone it down as I am a vegetarian and I love to eat them so much :(( I was a raw food fan, and someone suggested maybe cooking them instead would help :P. Part of the problem is the medicine rollar coaster I am on. Unfortunately for me, my RA is attacking a new area, my lower back, with a vengeance. I wake up in pain constantly and can't sit still or lay down for long before it ramps up. First My Dr. tried slow release narcotics and while they didn't work, they started plugging me up. Then she took me off those and started something else which didn't affect my digestive track and the bad stomach came back :( The only time my back feels good is when I am moving so I love to exercise and get lots of it. In spite of severe RA and five joint replacements, the only thing bothering me with the 3 hours daily exercise is my quad and IT band, which is still a sore problem from my recent hip replacement, I guess the muscles aren't fully used to being stretched back into a normal position yet.
But as always, with support from my Spark friends, I just carry on. The good news is they may remove the fan from my bedroom that got flooded on Tuesday. When they might repair the damages to my roof and the holes the put in there to release the water is anyone's guess. Mom is washing and dry cleaning all my clothes that got wet and storing them until the place is fixed. I am so lucky to have her support and help!
Have a fantastic Friday and a great weekend all! Finally warming up to normal temperatures here, can't wait to get out and hit the trails at long last after a very long, cold and hard winter!!

Today is my sweetie's Birthday! He's 45 today, and he says it's just another day :) He said that about 40 too.
Didn't get as much snow overnight here as I was figuring we would--no cancelled school, only a 2 hour delay. Only took my 15 minutes to shovel the sidewalks this morning. Light fluffy snow. It's still snowing just a little, and it looks like it probably will all day too. I usually do strength and cardio at the Y on Friday's after work, but it looks like I won't be able to squeeze it in--too many other things on my plate. I should have gotten up earlier instead of sleeping in with the delay. I can always do that Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown DVD again tonight or in the morning :) Maybe I will recuperate quicker this time:)

Pam--I'm right there with you on the nuts--for me it was the cocoa dusted almonds this week! They are a danger food for me I have decided.
Sharebear--wine and cheese are also a weakness of mine--love cheese :)

Happy Friday, everyone!

Michelle

I indulge on wine and cheese (way too much cheese) last night. It was delicious, but it put me over on calories, too. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. The evening is when it gets me.

So far, so good, for today!!

OK, must confess to a binge at 3 a.m.
WHAT was I thinking!?!!!!!!---it was almost like I was possessed.
Peanuts, more peanuts, and maybe a few more and then about a cup of Apple Cobbler--all the high calorie stuff!
It was a day that I had went over my calories anyway, but was still under 1600 calories UNTIL 3 a.m. when I got up and thought I was just soooo hungry. So, I thought NUTS (yes, I am!) would satisfy me quickly and easily (. . . it was 3 a.m.) and I ate a few and then a few more, and then a few more--not the usual 8 or 10. Still not satisfied . . . I got out the homemade apple cobbler (made for my husband and not usually a big challenge.) and instead of stopping at a bite I ate a cup full.
I have a big event tonight to challenge me even further. I am already planning ahead to prevent another day from turning into another food disaster.

A good day for an extra hour of exercise . . .

Update! NO MORE Wiggle room on my weight! Still figuring out how to keep balance and stay in charge. Staying active but could step it up again.

Good morning team!

TGIF! Got up this morning for weights and a quick run. Ate a healthy breakfast. Splurged a little last night on cheese fries for dinner. Not as a side. My entire dinner was cheese fries! With bacon bits and jalapeno ranch too! 80% healthy, 20% not so healthy. It's ok. Deep breaths.

Planning on getting out this evening with DH and playing cards. It should be fun and I will be sure to keep my drinking in check especially after last night's indulgence.

Even though I had a very short work week, I'm really glad it's Friday. We are supposed to have a strong storm system moving through with wind and rain in the lowlands and snow in the mountains My immediate area will likely miss the worst of it. We had dinner out last night but I still had my lowest weight of the week this morning. No pistachios! I actually had a blister on my tongue from eating so many of them Wednesday.

We have a blanket of white outside this morning. It's pretty and not all that cold, but I would prefer that all the snow would go away and we'd have Spring. Need to get to the store this morning for iron rich greens to eat. Need to get my iron back up to where it should be.

Have a great Friday!

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope all who were hit by the winter weather are safe and warm. Did reasonably well yesterday until the evening, then I had to go to a couple of different places that were serving cookies. I suppose three cookies over the course of the evening isn't too bad (nothing compared to what I would have done in the old days), but it wasn't planned and bumped my calories up higher than I would have liked. I'm just concerned about sliding into old habits. Ah well, today is a new day and no meetings or activities on the schedule today.

Got a good snow last night. Luckily not too much before I left at 10PM. Plenty to shovel though so it looks like I will get SOME fitness in. Got to break the sugar habit...especially late at night.

Lots of "wintery mix" out there this morning. Schools are closed, so no classes at the gym either. Oh well, when stuck inside there are always SP videos.

Phebess: Glad the recovery is going well

Lots going on and I haven't been working out like I normally do - I miss it! Praying my schedule lightens a little next week.

Its a winter wonderland! I agree Maree rocks! Nice to see you recovering well phebess!

Crazy busy day yesterday, all fitness plans fell through. Hitting the reset button today.

I have to drive 40 miles for a meeting this afternoon, not looking forward to that. Hoping it gets cancelled or goes quick so I can get home possibly a little early and get to the gym.

Happy Friday!!

Good morning! Hope you continue to grain strength, PHEBES. I so admire your consistency, Maree! I get so much inspiration here for staying healthy.

Had a great restaurant meal last night. Muscles and a salad with citrus. Yum. Nice to see something so healthy on the menu.

Got a cue from SparkCoach Nicole to work on balance today, incorporating it into every day moves. I'm going to do it and see if I can make it a routine.

Good morning! It's Friday! Lots of snow fell; I haven't heard the official number of inches, probably 4 or 5. I'm glad we didn't get the ice. The long walk was great yesterday morning.

Today is 30 min elliptical and 60 min RIPPED class.

Nutrition. I did well until evening. I need to do reading somewhere other than the kitchen table. I'm not at all happy with the old habits.

I hope everyone survived the winter storm and has a good Friday!!!
