Omigosh, Bill is off the wheat-free diet, so I cooked some meatballs and pasta for a comfort food dinner, and ate some of the meatballs and light gravy. My stomach is all bloaty and gassy!

Thanks, everyone, for the concern and advice. All of the changes that I've gone through physically to attain a healthy lifestyle married with the normal changes of aging, it's no wonder I don't know my body's signals as thoroughly as I should. Maybe I never really did and that's how I became obese in the first place. The important thing is that now I am willing to learn about my body and I'm willing to change my behaviors to support my health. Thanks again, everyone.

Livin,
it sounds like you might have had a low blood sugar episode.
i'm hypoglycemic (although not diabetic) and i get hot/sweaty, feel faint, and my hands shake/tremble.
if i don't get some orange juice, regular soda or a super-sweet food (like raisins) right away, i am in trouble.
yes, it can come on in an instant. mine has also been worse as i go thru menopause (not done yet).
i bought some glucose tablets at the pharmacy that i keep with me at all times for episodes like these.
it has saved me more times than i can count.
good luck!
Pat

VTRICIA, I definitely get it about the ticker. Every time I update my weight, I have to update my fat percentage too. VERY frustrating, but I'm bound and determined to track my fat percentage, darnit! :)

Congrats on reaching maintenance! :)

I fainted several times when I was 18-19. One time I was doing slimfast for most of my meals. Nothing that clear for the other times. I probably had a tendency to run ragged, and I liked to stay up really late as much as I could. I was probably anemic as well. I tend toward that but creating as much stability in regular sleep, quantity and timing of what I eat has helped. I haven't fainted since 1990.

Today marks my first week of maintenance. I think I will change my ticker to maintenance weeks. Especially since it keeps putting my bodyfat% at my weight. Maybe that happens with weeks too, but we'll see. Today I am on track for my first 10,000 step day!

I've been reading a lot of blogs lately (and wrote one) with this same theme, LIVIN2LOVE1 , and while I have never fainted, I have been noticing the last few days that I have had an odd sensation myself, and it made me think it wouldn't take much for me to faint. I blamed it on the fact that I didn't ( and still don't) feel well yesterday, but I don't know how much my peri-menopause may be playing a part as well...and it hadn't occurred to me that I may be internalizing more of the nation's stress than I realized too.
Suffice it to say that I have felt out of sorts lately too, and I have noticed many others here have been as well. So far today, I haven't even felt like eating much, (I really just ate my lunch today, because I'd packed it, and it was time) and that is really unusual for me. In my past that has been a symptom of extreme situational depression.
Then I also wonder about the impact of seasonal affective disorder...how many of us does some degree of that affect?
Know that you are not alone.

Well, I succumbed to the stress yesterday. Since beginning peri-menopause I have fainting spells. I've had 3 in the last 2 years. Last night I was feeling tired, very tired. The kids were hungry. So was I. I cooked dinner and sat with them at the table over dinner answering their questions. We had a good, important discussion. Their questions were better than their questions over the weekend. I think being at school raised more questions in their little minds. They are 9 and 10 years old.

After I put them to bed I was going through the mail and thinking how wonderful my life is. It hit me all of the sudden. I was overcome with grief and overwhelming sadness. My vision went tunnel and I was pouring sweat. I hung on to the counter taking deep relaxing breaths until my vision cleared. Instead of calling for my husband I tried to make the trek to my bed by myself. I had just cleared the tile floor and I went down. My husband was there when I came to. He helped me down the hall to the bedroom. I fainted again on the way down the hall. I spent the rest of the evening in bed with a cool rag on my head and an ice pack on my chin where I hit the floor.

The most important thing for me to do is to not be afraid. I have to listen to my body. Each time this has happened I was pushing myself too hard and not listening to my body's warning signs. Never again. I will take care of myself. Hopefully this passes with the end of menopause... about 7 or 8 years from now. With the added stress of our nation's "situation" I've been overly anxious. This is a stressful time of year at work too. It's just a perfect storm and I have to remember what's important. Just the basics. Good food, plenty of liquids, good rest, and deep breaths to stay calm.

Kim

Looks like most of us are starting to feel some stress the last few days (at least)
I'm back to work today- eating was surprisingly fine yesterday even thought I was not well-
Weight is about a pound below target :)
No wrapping is done, and I'm not done getting gifts either :( I really thought I was gonna be done early this year too.

Hi folks
I hope the snow melts that we got yesterday as it's really wet and slushy and hard to walk in.

I got my hand and wrist xray's yesterday and the osteo has invaded my wrists and hands with the right being the severe one, and I'm right handed.

I'm not a happy camper, but will manage.. already I am modifying yoga poses so I can continue on..and of course I can still ride my bike.. I love knitting and gardening and both really aggravate the hand and wrists.. oh sigh..

At least weighing less really helps all the other joints like hips and knees!

Yesterday I stayed up late even though I was tired, binged on rolled wafer cookies that I didn't even like that much and this morning I am up another pound...4 1/2 since Saturday! All I can do is make this a better day.

Good morning all!

Got up early and ran this morning. Really wanted to get off earlier than planned, but stuck it out. Of course, I'm glad I did. Work is going to be stressful today and tomorrow. I have a ton of holiday to do's, but am slowly checking them off. Deep breaths.

Hi team!

I did better yesterday, but succumbed to snacking last night. Recommitting (again) today. Really not digging the number on the scale this morning.

Have a great day all!

Good luck, LEB!

Better day than I expected yesterday, given that we had a wine dinner last night. By eating lightly all day, I had a boatload of calories to spend on din-din, but I'm finding that the pledge to track *everything* is making me more mindful. When I tallied up yesterday, I was over by only about 50 calories.

Of course, I was hungry when I walked in the door, but MIL's announcement that she was coming a day early threw us into crisis cleaning mode + I had not even started my Christmas cards. So in the time between getting home from work at 5:00 and leaving for dinner at 6:30, we made the house presentable, and I got half my cards done. Whew!

Morning Everyone!

I'm starting to feel the holiday stress. I've still got presents to buy, even though I told myself I wasn't waiting until the last minute this year. There's a cheese tray and a pumpkin cheesecake in the breakroom...**Sigh**

good morning ladies...well, back to work this morning. Should be a light day (not a lot of folks wanting to give windows and doors for Christmas). Hopefully I can get a couple small errands done at lunch and have a little extra energy to fit in a good run and a work out between work and lighting practice for Christmas Eve Services tonight.

Good morning!

Fortunately, I was able to flush out some of that sodium from Sunday's binge, so I'm down a little over a pound from yesterday. Going to do a 6.5 mile run this morning and either step or spin class tonight...I'm leaning towards step.

Food was good yesterday; kept it under 1700 calories, so I'm feeling better about mitigating the damage from the binge.

Well, I'd better get set to go to the gym...have a good one, everyone!

Good morning.

Scale still shows Sunday's celebration. I have no margin of error, so I'm back to my "clean" eating. Fitness on track with the normal workout routine.

I'm excited about the Christmas gift we purchased for daughter and granddaughter--fancy camera. I think of it as a family investment.

I can't bear to listen to news; it's too much.

Hope all have a good day!
