I was 'spot on' with healthy choices yesterday. I have to work out more, however. I don't walk as much with the weather getting colder and I've decided to make use of the local Walmart not far from my office for my morning walks when the wind chill is too much.

We always have to rethink our strategies, don't we?

Have a great day everyone, Pat

emoticon I'm here! (Just barely.) Another busy day at work, though we were fully staffed for the first time this week. More work to do at home with housework, wrapping a gift for a coworker and baking cookies for the celebration at work tomorrow. It's not a true cookie exchange, we're just bringing in some to share along with the recipes. I'm going to have cookies for lunch! emoticon emoticon Now, back to housework--I have a load of laundry to fold, a catbox to scoop and a dishwasher to unload and reload before I sleep.

Good evening! I had a rough start, woke up at 2:30, and wound up staying up until after I got the kids off to school, I snagged another sleep cycle (90 min) before the baby was up for the day. But I did take a walk outside (Thanks for that challenge, Kitty!)

Tomorrow I would like to get out to a restaurant supply store and get some larger portion scoops. I saw these at a banquet recently, and thought I might like to get some. I have a 1 Tbsp and a 3 Tbsp, but I'd like a quarter cup if I can find one. We'll see how long it actually takes. Oh, wait, I bet they sell them on the internet!

Yup, they're called "dishers" Like for dishing out potatoes. I got a 2 oz and a 4 oz. And an Amish romance novel my husband asked for. :shakes head:

Did well on the calories yesterday, not a lot of walking but some (drove 150+ km) - we're back in Auckland so walking up and down hills, which is great for my glutes!

Very busy but productive day today! Squeezed in time for a step interval class and a walk with the pups. Up at 5:00 am, began decorating for Christmas. Still have more to do, but the house is beginning to look like the holidays. Carol

Such a busy day- I never got a chance to read everyone's check-in posts, and I'm finally just getting to it myself.
Great day yesterday- got in my cardio and ST at the Y- Yay!
Didn't get the holiday baking done that I had planned, but I did get some lunches pre-made for the rest of the week. Weight is still about one pound below original goal- so holding close to my new goal weight!

I hate that feeling of not wanting to get on the scale! I had that feeling every day for too many years. Now if I have that feeling (this morning) I force myself to do it and face the music.
Better to see a couple of extra pounds creeping on than to see 10 or 20 there (all of a sudden)

Hi there all - not sure what hit me, maybe just my body's way of MAKING me slow down a bit. Left work very much more tired than normal yesterday - was in bed by 6:30 or 7pm and woke up at around one SICK! Headache, nausea, vertigo, stomach, aches, the works. Had to call in to work (about 5AM) and just now, about 2PM beginning to feel human and like I can function. Going to try to eat some soup and get moving. Really need to be at lighting practice tonight, work tomorrow and kettlebell class tomorrow night, run and work on Sat and lighting for church and run on Sunday. Hummmm, any wonder my body wanted to shut down for a bit?!?!

Good Lord - between the holidays and my birthday, I haven't been sticking to my calorie allotment and I can feel it ..... and it doesn't feel good. I'm worried to get on the scale but I know I have to for accountability's sake.

I'm with Sue and Toni. Can't wait to move to the Northwest!

Good day overall yesterday, as I got in a good walk and a good yoga practice with some of those restorative poses that worked for my back pain Monday. Also, I walked the stairs for nine flights after a going away pizza lunch. I'm happy to report I ate only one slice and some raw veggies.

Good morning everyone! It's starting to get cold here (30's) and that makes it hard on my hip. I'm thinking about going and buying some hunting gear to walk in. It would be warm. Any ideas?

Good morning!

So last night was my first attempt at a DIY HIIT program. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical with 3 cycles of 1 minute going all out and 3 minutes of my usual pace. Felt great afterwards, did about 10 minutes on the exercise bike, did abs and then went home. I think I'm going to do something similar with my run tomorrow, since it's a short one (3.1 miles) and see how it goes. Mixing up the workout routine every so often is a good thing and how I didn't really have a plateau in weight loss. :)

Had a really good run this morning: 6.3 miles in 58:42. For me, it's an incredible feeling to push myself as hard as I have lately to be able to do a consistent sub-10 minute mile. My goal is to do my 10k race in February in less than an hour, and I'm in really good shape for it right now.

I am also accepting that I really need to eat more carbs than I have, in order to avoid the sluggish feeling. So instead of having them be roughly 50% of my diet, I'm leaning more towards 55%, especially with all the exercise I do.

So step class tonight, then cleaning the apartment a bit. I love the instructor: she has this GREAT energy that keeps you going and you really feel energized throughout the entire class. I like that. :)

Well, have a fantabulous Thursday everyone!

Good morning all!!

Had a stressful day yesterday. Nibbled too much on some chocolate covered peanut brittle that was in a colleague's office. Was really tired at supper and wanted to go through the drive through, but made a healthy meal instead. Got up early and ran 2 miles on the treadmill this morning. Will be another tiring day today. Taking mom to the doctor which is a 2 hour round trip drive. Looks like we are going to DH's work christmas party tonight.

Everyone have a great day!

Still learning the pups' patterns and setting their routines here. I'm remembering the power of treats and baby gates! I'm losing weight because eating isn't as much of a priority, but that will change, I'm sure.

Hello Everyone!

Today I'll be making up my skipped workout since I had a "girls night" yesterday. I've got a pre-prepped lasagna in the fridge, so I think while it's baking I'll pound out some mileage on the basement treadmill. Then dinner. Then gym for ST. Whew, that's a full evening! Thank goodness I assembled dinner ahead of time.

This week my sodium has been TERRIBLE. I can feel the bloat! With my super-salty frozen breakfast sandwich I just ate, and the lasagna with jarred sauce for dinner I'm already at my limit for the day. I need to figure out something practically sodium-free to eat for lunch. And drink TONS of water!

emoticon Cheers!

Good morning, team!

Yesterday turned out pretty good. A shorter workout than I had planned, but hey, I did something, right? Good thing, too, because today is probably not going to afford me time for a workout. I'll get home around 6p then a 30-min drive to step-daughter's dance program. We probably won't get back home until after 9p.

I've GOT to get my cards done. I'm off tomorrow, so after taking dog to the vet, I'm hitting the post office for Christmas stamps and working on the list.

Have a great day!

Good morning! Great you could write cards in middle of night, Maree, tho when you want sleep... Happens to me sometimes too. And thinking of you in Seattle, Swede. I grew up there and miss it! Virginia is great, but it is not Seattle!!

Put up tree yesterday and am sitting by it this am in the dark as I write this. Pretty! If I do say so.

Holiday dinner out with friends last night. Lovely moment before rush of family for Christmas holiday. Nice to have a quiet moment with good people. Food was good, and portions small and realistic.

Good morning. I made the mistake of putting the dogs out last night and forgetting to let them back in before I went to bed. So at 2 a.m. Jonie started barking and I got up to let them in--felt bad as it's kinda cold out there. They are okay, but I couldn't get back to sleep. I had a cup of hot tea and watched a little tv, got back into bed, but finally just got up and I've been finishing some Christmas cards. I need to get a good night's sleep--this is ridiculous.

I didn't pack enough in my lunch yesterday, so was too hungry when I got home. I didn't get it all tracked, but don't think I exceeded calories. Maybe salty because the scale was up today. But when I woke up I was hungry. A little maddening actually, but I know it will balance out.

Today I have two different walks planned with two friends, I'm looking forward to friendship and sunshine! Sue, sounds like you are having a lot of fun with the Fitbit! New toys are always fun,

Hope everyone has a good day!

good morning! a day in the city yesterday of errands and seeing two of our kids and some old friends. did ok on the nutrition front, mainly because we did not get to the restaurant for lunch until mid afternoon, and then dinner. the only snack was my FAVORITE chocolate, chocolate covered orange peels, from my FAVORITE chocolate shop, fran's. did not track nutrition, but i know it can't be bad just because.

the fitbit made it interesting to track exercise - we walked to the nearest starbucks first thing (this is seattle, after all:-), and then a short walk in a park for pelle the border collie, then the rest of the day was whatever walking - and stairs - came with (window) shopping and errands until the end of the day when we gave pelle more park-time. in the end, we came up with over 13,000 steps, 5.77 miles, and 19 floors - and since i know the FB has been pretty accurate on real "exercise days" this has to be fairly close to accurate too!

today will be spent in the car after picking up my brother and my 97 year old dad. oh, and my daughter's border collie - it's going to be a tight fit home!

have a good one!

live every day so the border collie is happy for a good, active life!
