Tomorrow its just us. I'm going to cook, but with thoughts more about healthy foods and getting some things in the freezer for lunches. My husband, high school son and I all take our lunches most days. We sure go through the food that I set aside for lunches!

Saturday, we are going to be with my husband's family. I'll take some things there. I think there's going to be a little bit of Christmas.

Did well yesterday - reasonable food-wise, hiked around a gorgeous waterfall despite the rain, and refused dessert.

No Thanksgiving for us, it isn't a holiday in NZ.

Sounds like many of you have some awesome plans for tomorrow - the big "turkey day" as so many are calling eat. Enjoy the food, but focus on being thankful for it - the opportunity to have such a wide variety of choices, the ability to enjoy the various delicious flavors, and even the good nutrition that is available to have. We really do have a lot to be thankful for in just the food we eat each day!!

I bought new running tights yesterday to replace the ones being held up with a safety pin. They felt great this morning. 4 miles done!

Grocery shopping this afternoon. Family will be here Fri/Sat. I'm fine with them spending Thanksgiving Day with the inlaws. Their inlaws always invite DH & me too. Nice people!

So I ended up not doing the workout DVD last night...instead I hung out in the laundry room with one of my neighbors that I met. She's looking to lose some weight, so I shared my story. We seemed to hit it off, so hopefully, we'll hang out again, even if it's on a Tuesday night to do laundry.

Instead, I went to the gym early this morning and did 25 minutes on the exercise bike before boot camp. It felt really good to get the blood flowing for what turned out to be a really challenging class. Tonight, I do some swimming, then home to get my bag packed for tomorrow's Turkey Trot race.

Nutrition-wise, I did eat about 200 calories more than usual yesterday, but still in range. At least this morning, I was back on the losing trend, but we'll see if that continues or not. It's a quiet day at the office, so I hope to get a decent amout of work done.

Did OK on calories yesterday until we went to a movie in the evening. Cinerama has this dangerous substance called "chocolate popcorn". The whole lobby smells like baking brownies. I told my husband to get a small bag, he got a medium, we brought almost half home. It's not as irresistible when it's cold. Tomorrow will be low-key, with a portion controlled dinner at my Mom's retirement home. I'll make a Thanksgiving dinner for us sometime next week. This weekend my MIL is downsizing to a smaller apartment, so that will take most of our time. It makes me not sorry to have to work Friday! emoticon

Good Morning!

A few days ago, BF and I decided that we weren't going on the 11-hour drive back to NC for Thanksgiving. Instead we're having a laid back day, and saving the trip for next month.

He wanted to continue our tradition of going to Golden Corral, which we've done 3 years before when it was just the two of us. However, I convinced him to change his mind because I didn't want to waste the calories on cafeteria food when I can cook a healthful meal at home.

I'm so excited to cook our Thanksgiving meal for two! I'll be roasting a chicken, making just enough homemade stuffing to fill the bird, BF is cooking a small green bean casserole with all the traditional crappy ingredients, and I promised him some bread pudding made with yeast rolls (since that's the only reason he loves his yearly trip to Golden Corral). Now I just have to brave the grocery stores tonight-- yikes!

Today I'll finish up a little work before the end of our official "early day," so I plan on helping Bill with early food prep and doing last-minute vacuuming indoors and sweeping outdoors. The turkey is already brining in the fridge. I haven't had a problem with overdoing it on Thanksgiving for years. I just plan on having a little bit of the things that I can, avoiding things like stuffing, green bean casserole, candied yams, rolls, and pie crust.

I am so happy I have finally gotten back to my goal weight - it has taken me 5 months from the 4th of July family celebration. We are going to my daughter's for Thanksgiving which is great for me - I won't have to deal with all the leftovers in my refrigerator this year. emoticon Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Went a little over on calories yesterday, but not a binge, and I did have a good walk. Tonight is leftovers, since I rescheduled Saturday's hair cut and facial for late this afternoon, so the stylist and esthetician can have Saturday off. Tomorrow we will celebrate by having a Cornish hen instead of turkey with stuffing, steamed green beans instead of green bean casserole, a favorite dish called potatoes Anna (white/sweet potatoes sliced thinly and layered, sprinkled with thyme and a little Parmesan cheese...oh, and too much butter) instead of mashed potatoes with gravy. We will forgo dinner rolls, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, and candied yams. Dessert will be pumpkin pie and cool whip (a nice splurge) with decaf vanilla creme tea (love Stash!)

I've been a struggling a little, but I seem to be pretty much back on track this week. I plan to enjoy myself tomorrow without stuffing myself. I also plan at least an hour workout before the big meal.

Good Morning!

Pumpkin pie smells good this morning. Got it in the oven by 7. I have never baked in the early morning before. Just happened to get up early and decided there was no time like the present. Tomorrow, I will probably only have a half a slice with fat-free redi-whip. I won't eat the crust. I just like to have a taste. Sending leftovers home with my college age son and his girlfriend.

I have a busy day planned and cooking food other than my pie is not what I'll be doing. I don't even have to think about the menu. At first I wasn't excited about my daughter's vegan menu, but now I'm grateful for it. Though it will be hard to estimate the calories, I will not be eating much, that's for sure. Some of you would be excited about this menu, but I am not. I guess I need to work on my thankfulness on this Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve to all - I am off to work and finally able to bend a bit without severe pain. I guess that makes it a good day. Looking forward to seeing my church family tonight and then my family tomorrow (at least part of it). Thankful that I get to sleep in a bit and get some extra rest. Please, for all of you that will be celebrating Black Friday and the pre-Black Friday on Thanksgiving....keep in mind, and be a little kinder than required, to those who have to give up time with THEIR families to serve the shoppers during these days of retail mayhem.

good morning all. november has been one gray day after another, snow is in the mountains, rain here in the valley. managed to get out for a 5 mile run with DH and the bc with the rain only catching us at the end. nutrition went well yesterday, the scale is staying happy. made reservations at a restaurant for thursday, just the two of us.
