I've finally gotten back in the swing of things with exercise. 4 days in a row. I'm so relieved that my ankle is healed almost completely. I kept calories in check the two weeks while resting my foot. but yesterday I had a binge. It all started when i gave in to having a small shake with my lunch. Chick-fil-a has their winter peppermint shakes right now. I have one once each season, so i guess that's it for me. But the shake triggered the binge and it was perpetuated by a major disappointment I had after having the shake.
I recently had an aha moment that true comfort doesn't come from food, food in excess or unhealthy foods don't give comfort but discomfort! Doesn't it make you feel the opposite of comfort after the binge? Self loathing and stomach distention don't feel like comfort to me!

Ran 7 miles this morning at a 10.5 minute mile pace before church, and it felt GREAT! Church was very inspiring with a Dixieland brass band performing. It was a REALLY fun service and I got a lot out of it. After church, I picked up a foam roller, so that I can work out the kinks after a run at home as well as at the gym.
Been enjoying the football games this afternoon, though my team plays tonight. Hopefully the Ravens will eat some crow while the Steelers win.
Getting meal plan finalized for Thanksgiving; SO glad we are having a small group this year. Having food for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike! Pat

Did a bit of walking at the auto show yesterday. Did OK on eating calorie-wise, though short on fruits, veg and protein. Helped a bit with clearing FIL's stuff out of their apartment to MIL can downsize. Today I'm off to church and then will probably stay in all afternoon and do some cooking and food prep so dinners are easier during the work week. We'll have Thanksgiving at my Mom's retirement home, so it's pretty much an average cooking week for me.

good morning. maree, is there an active border collie rescue group in your area? they might be able to place the BC at the shelter. meanwhile, my border collie decided he needed an early visit outdoors today, no alarm needed for an early start. yesterday despite the snowy sleet, we managed a four-mile walk. i knew that once we got back it would not be appealing to go out again, but we broke our 30 miles for the week (34), so goal met. we chopped and stacked wood in the afternoon, but were so cold that we decided not to add the last mile that had been planned. DH made us a delicious dinner (tempeh bourgignon), we watched a movie, and just a pleasant day despite the ugly weather.

Good morning! I was up (too) early today, too! Looking forward to 60 degree weather today and this entire week here in Central Illinois. It will provide incentive to get out for a walk on Thanksgiving Day. Yesterday my exercise was walking/running dogs at the local County Animal Shelter. I walked an adorable male border collie (not too hyper, but we did some running) and an exceptionally well-behaved female pit bull--it's hard not to hang your head and cry as you leave, because if these dogs aren't adopted or picked up by a rescue shelter, well... I can only do my best to give them 15 or 20 minutes of happiness outside in the fresh air--I also give them lots of lovin' and I'll post pleas for why they should be adopted.
