MJZHERE - wish I could go with you for the hiking in Sedona. My grandparents lived there years ago before it was a tourist town. Our family would go there almost every summer to see them. The area was very memorable!

Have been keeping my calories in range and doing workouts almost daily. My weight is gradually working down to the center of maintenance range.

I had a spectacular weekend and holiday and am 1.5 pounds down from Friday! My plan worked! Now it is time to get back into my normal routine. I just don't feel like exercising today, but I know that is when I need to do it the most. It feels like Monday, but I actually kind of skipped Monday. Bonus!

That was perfect, LIVIN! The only problem is that, by the end of the day, not too many people are on this forum to see it. Tomorrow morning they might.

I ate too many snacks last night after supper.
Just for today, I promise not to do that to my belly tonight.

I awoke, startled, from the alarm clock. I can't even remember the last time I had to awaken to the alarm clock.

I managed my workout... heck, I better than managed... I kicked butt!

Some days I must tell myself that the morning workout is a habit, not a hobby. It's a habit like brushing my teeth, putting my seat belt on, using toilet paper (and washing my hands after using toilet paper).

So, there you have it... the phrase for the day... It's a habit, not a hobby.

PS. I hope I posted this correctly. I hit Reply. Was I supposed to hit Create New Topic?

Headed out of town for some time in Sedona hiking. It is so beautiful this time of the year with fall colors - a little cold for me but I brought plenty of layers. In RV so my food is with me which makes the whole eating thing so easy as it is all planned out till I go home.

@GINARIGDON-
What is it about a carb binge that sets us up to crave more and more? Did that myself last week..tracked it and moved on.

I don't post very often but last week was horrible for me. It was TOM and I ate like food was going out of style. I have not done that for a really, really long time. I ate 2 cupcakes when I could've done with one and then just felt like I was constantly hungry (even the growling stomach). I hadn't really changed anything with regards to the foods I was eating except that I was adding in some junk food. I logged everything and am moving on. I just needed to make myself accountable for last week. Time to get back on track. I think I will skip two weeks of weigh in to let my body recover!

Stayed well within range yesterday- but forgot to get on scale this morning :( oh well-had Chinese with my youngest son for supper last night (date night), so the extra sodium probably would have resulted in a water-retention gain anyway..it usually does.

@Jane...I have noticed that those trends (big loss, plateau or slow creep, slow loss, hover around new loss, repeat...) seem to be tied directly to my monthly cycle. It helps me to be able to identify that and move on- I tend to beat myself up less when I remember that.

@BME_22 I think you are choosing well to just see how it goes with regard to adjusting your calorie intake to match the breastfeeding. All children are not alike in their consumption- you will even notice that vast differences can even be noted among your own children down the road. My youngest nursed the longest and most exclusively than my first two. If what you are doing is working- I would stick with it and adjust down the road as needed.

Kept in range yesterday except for my old pal sodium emoticon . Choir rehearsal was both fun and challenging. When I'm not prepared I have to count more on sight-reading. I stayed up way too late finishing a chapter of an absorbing novel. The one reason I may upgrade to a new Kindle is the "how far to the end of a chapter?" feature. I kept going, thinking that surely it would end on the next page, for at least a half an hour. emoticon

I'm so glad that this issue was troubling me on a run day, because I was able to ponder the issue during the 6 miles that I pounded the pavement this morning. I feel MUCH better about all this.

I had to remind myself of one of my biggest tools in my toolbox: The Serenity Prayer. I can control my food, water, sleep, stress level and exercise, and I have to trust my body to do the rest.

And you guys are probably right that it's just a little water weight, since the humidity is going down. I'm going to increase my water intake a little more and see if that helps. After all, a well-hydrated body is a well functioning body.

Alright, back to work I go....

@Jane, I have to remind myself frequently to look at the big picture for weight loss. My loss tends to plateau (or creep up), then plummet. I rationalize it by telling myself that my body just needs to adjust to a new, lower weight. But in 8 months having lost 63 lbs, I've levelled out about 6 times. Seeing the trend is helpful, because I know if I just keep sticking with it, I'll see changes again in a week or two. I hope that's the way it goes for you.

I'm down to 141.4lb this morning. It seems so odd to me that I'm this close to the 130s.

The big conundrum I'm facing down now - how many calories to give myself for breastfeeding. Right now, I allow myself an extra 500. DD will be 9 months old next week, though, and I've heard that at that point, children only eat/mom only produces about 300 calories worth. But, I'm still losing weight (and I'm pretty sure I ate OVER my goal ever day last week), so I don't think I'm going to adjust it anytime soon. It's just making me nervous and adding another variable to an already complex equation.

If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

What is right is not always easy, and what is easy is not always right.

Jane, it might just be water weight fluctuations and not a trend. If it keeps up, you could nip it in the bud by trimming your daily calorie allowance by 100-200 calories.

I'm not sure what the heck is going on, but the big loss I experienced from Halloween through last Friday is disappearing...and I don't understand why, since I'm still eating pretty much the same way (1600-1700 calories/day) and exercising the same way that I was last week, so it's frustrating the heck out of me. Maybe my body is saying that my set point should be 175 instead of 165? Going to the doc on Friday, so maybe he'll have some insights, but any that you guys may have would be appreciated.

Anyhow, I need to get going on my run on this brisk morning. Have a great day, everyone!

wow, not used to seeing people up before me on a work night! (it's barely 2 a.m. here in WA). monday was definitely better. we took a 4 mile walk in the snow, which doesn't look like it will last, but it is a suggestion of what's to come. slipped a bit while cooking dinner, but not too badly.

Late night? Early morning? Whatever, I need to get back to my routine. Way too easy to eat way too much on vacation. Heading back to southwest Washington today.
