Day 1 in Pacific Northwest. Landed near noon, headed to hotel, then set out on the historic Vancouver, Washington, volksmarch. After visiting this area in 10 springs, we wanted to see it in the rainiest time of year. Wouldn't you know the sun was out, and after visiting here so many years, it was like coming home.

OK, today's a wash-out foodwise. I'm still being indulgent. I had a reasonable breakfast and packed a healthy, low-cal lunch, knowing there would be snacks at work today. By lunchtime I decided that if there was leftover pizza from yesterday I wanted some...so I had two pieces of reheated cheese pizza. And some chips and dip. And pistachios. Then a coworker said, "Would you like a little pancit? I don't want to take the leftovers home." OK. Tonight we had the rest of the potato leek soup I made earlier in the week, a jalapeño cheese bagels with cream cheese and a token salad. I'm full, but still want something else. There's light ice cream left, but I think either a fun size Snickers or a glass of wine. Or maybe just a nice mug of herbal tea!

Lori, I have lowered my goal once and promptly gained a couple of pounds. lol So I have put it back at my original goal and if I vary one way or another it will accept it. I may yet lower the goal again, but I will have to be in a place where I am more motivated and confident that I am willing to put in the effort.

Slept in today...feeling very tired recently, but hopefully will iron that out with my doctor in a couple of weeks. Did get up and renewed my drivers license today (Happy -almost- birthday to me!) The young man there was SO very pleasant with everyone that I just had to call the Secretary of States office to compliment him when I got home. He really put a smile on my face as well as many others there - and on our drivers licenses. One more night of work this week and then I get a long weekend for my birthday. Got lots of errand and stuff to do, but some fun planned too. Got to get lunch and snacks together now and then off to work I go! Have a marvelous day everyone!

SELF_RESPECT-
I have never "officially" changed my goal weight once I reached it, but in my head I want to lose up to 5 more- just to give myself more wiggle room....it's all psychological for me, I'm sure...
I've been in maintenance for 8+ months now, and I still hover around my initial goal weight- sometimes dropping as much as 2.5 below. Recently I feel like I may be actually making the shift to the new "in my head" goal- as long as I don't lose control and go on a carb binge emoticon
That has been my experience anyway--

Hi Team mates: not sure where to post this message but I have a question. Have you "reset" your goal weight? More specifically, did you reach goal and then set the goal at a lower weight? I'm considering doing so and would like to know your experiences - if you have any you'd like to share. Thanks, Pat emoticon

I believe in myself, I am a strong woman. I will reach my goals, NOTHING & NOBODY will hold me down. I will live my life with integrity and intention. I will set a good example for my daughters and my son. I will be a woman that makes my grand children proud when they look at pictures of me long after I've left this earth.

I'm doing some soul searching, trying to figure out what I want to do with my remaining 30 good years left of life. I'm a career mom and grandma. But I'm suffering from boredom.

And boredom has really struck while laid up with my ankle. Lots of time to think.

I also did two chair workouts. One of them, the aerobics one, I did twice in a row. Felt good to get the blood pumping. I would go swimming, but I still have sores from tangling with the barb-wire and I don't want the sores to get infected.

Have a happy Thursday, everyone!

Good morning, everyone!

I swam 34 laps in the pool this morning, and am looking forward to getting my fat percentage measured this afternoon, followed by a little strength training and a run (not necessarily in that order).

I got some interesting comments on my Huffington Post article, including one saying that she didn't understand how I could pack all the activity in that I do. It's not that hard...I don't watch a lot of TV, first of all, and second of all, I choose to be single and childfree, so I'm able to spend a lot of my spare time doing the activities that I enjoy.

Although my goal weight is 165, I'm going to shoot for 160-162 by the time I get to my parents' house for Christmas, since I know that week, I won't be able to exercise as much as I normally do, and I'll probably eat a little more than I do at home, so I want some "wiggle room." The strange thing is that my weight loss seems to be accelerating instead of slowing...but I'm still struggling to eat as much as I'm supposed to, especially since I really want to avoid eating sweets. Most sweets are "trigger" foods, and the last thing I need is a relapse of my addictive behaviors. I may cut back a little on my exercise instead...we'll see.

Anyhow, I'm just trying to hang in there and just commit to my daily healthy eating and exercise. Have a great day, everyone!

Oh the clearance candy....my boyfriend has had such a hard time transitioning from "bargains at the point of sale" to recognizing the high cost down the road of repeating that behavior over and over...he is finally getting it, but it's hard for him as a chronic "bargain-shopper" to walk away.

Tortise110....mmmmm..salmon

I've never heard of goose jerky either....sounds interesting

Laura- I've been staying up way too late..watching Law and Order on Netflix of all things...I think it keeps me way too engaged, and I can't settle down...I put my foot down last night tho, and told myself it's got to stop too!

Sounds like everyone had a good yesterday, good beginning to today so far...
I rode my bike for ST@Y again....(heehee...ST...that still makes me laugh, BME_22)
WAY better on the eating yesterday...no binge, and no punishment of myself! Yay!

Morning Team!

Yesterday was a planned day off. Ate within range even with a little candy emoticon

The time change has been making me fall back into bad habits this week. We've been getting comfy on the couch after dinner and accidentally passing out downstairs until we can finally drag ourselves to bed around midnight. That's GOT to stop..TODAY!

BME_22... you sound like me when my weight loss was winding down. I was sad that I would miss out on the feeling when you step on the scale and see a loss. I thought I would be deprived of the challenge of losing. But maintenence is a whole new challenge!!

Good, beautiful morning here. The Sun is out and the fog has lifted off the lake. I’m getting ready to hop on the treadmill and then some stretches for my back. Have a great day, ladies.

Never heard of goose jerky. At motorcycle rallies sometimes there are jerky sellers who sell different kinds, but I haven't yet seen goose.

I basically had candy for dinner yesterday emoticon
My husband went nuts with the clearance halloween candy, and I had about 1300 calories left by the time I got home... So I went a little nuts, too.

It's a new day, though, right?

I have to admit, on the way into work this morning, I realized I might not lose much more weight. It made me a little sad. I'm right in the middle of a healthy BMI range (21.6), so technically speaking I don't have to lose any more to get healthy. I don't know why I feel like I should continue losing.

If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

What is right is not always easy, and what is easy is not always right.

All that food sounds pretty good, ladies! Homemade goose jerky??

I may have to start taking my own advice about how to go from losing to maintenance calories. I'm approaching the bottom of my range, which has been my goal over the past month, so now I'm in the nice position of having to figure out what to do about stopping the loss and maintaining again! Your recommendations are welcome, though I think I'll scan the topics here to see what I and others said about this before.

Good morning Sue, Maree. Had lunch with a friend at a restaurant that served small portions! Wonderful salmon with polenta. Took a yoga class that made me feel great. Felt all Sparky all day... Make it a good one, Team.

Good morning. Sue your run sounds great! I finally slept a little later--finally acclimating to time change I hope. Yesterday I did 45 min on the elliptical and a 60 min RIPPED (interval type class). Nutrition was a pure protein day. Home made goose jerky was a great snack. Sunshine predicted today--thank God!!

good morning! a better day yesterday. went for the morning run with DH and it was so beautiful, fall color, sunshine, that we went a little farther, a little more, and then some, and wound up with almost 7 miles. so that definitely helped make up for the excesses of the day before. nutrition went well, too - made a big confetti salad to go with the kale and bean soup leftovers, and a tempeh stir fry for dinner. no chips, no nuts, no wine - but a nice piece of dark chocolate for desert:-)
