Weighed in another pound down this morning. It was weird, even before I got on the scale I was figuring that I'd be down.... just a feeling. So, obviously my eating plan isn't working, I need to eat more.... hard because I'm often not hungry after eating my meals, and I've already added in some sweet treats, so I'm really not sure what to do.

Working on maintaining at 140!

Congrats! Jane.
Did not go to the gym today for yoga because I did not wan to go there and find out they were not offering classes like Monday. So its SP videos and WATP today instead of yoga and gym machines. Will do the gym machines tomorrow with bike and elliptical.

Jane, the good news just keeps coming for you. Congrats on the BMI under 30 and on the Huff Post article!

We made it through Sandy in northern Virginia with minimal impact. Just like with Isabel in 2003, our house was one of only four in the neighborhood that did not lose power. The only known casualty was the Internet/cable over night. Fortunately for my neighbors, their power came back on some time during the night. Praying for those really suffering.

That's great, Jane!
I was approached by Huffington Post about a story many weeks ago, and Bruce Corwin helped me to edit my story (and a beautiful job he did!)- he also felt like it was a done deal, I think- because they had wanted to contact me directly for a phone interview, but I was never contacted- Which is fine with me, it apparently wasn't meant to be, but I was a little disappointed after the "please hurry with it, we have deadlines to meet" and I did (and Bruce did) and it just evaporated.
So happy for you! Be sure to share the link when it's published so we can all check it out!

I just need to send some more pictures (before and after) and it's a done deal! WHEEEE!

Good morning!
Catching up at work from taking a personal day yesterday-It was a gorgeous one here in Eastern Iowa!
Helped my boyfriend (who also took the day off to hang out with me:) cut, load, and stack a heaping pickup load of firewood. Great work out- I even tried my hand at splitting some over the weekend, and I'm pretty proud of myself for the success I had- made for some sore muscles in my back, but not unbearable.
At goal weight- even thought I've been craving sweets (and indulging some) for several days now. Have a great week!

I'm still a bit under goal--three days in a row, it's for real! I made black bean chili for dinner last night and am looking forward to leftovers for lunch. I bought my bag of candy corn for the year, took it home and portioned it out into single servings. I had enough calories left for two servings, but after eating one (41g) I decided that one serving is about all the candy corn I WANT to eat at once! emoticon

I hope everyone has been able to manage Sandy and the aftereffects. We've got high winds and threats of flooding, but nothing major. Schools are closed though. Still I'm considering running outside instead of the gym. There's so much political jibber-jabber there that it raises my heart rate. Scary that I'd rather brave the weather than that. Finally I found a reason for headphones or earplugs.

I wish you all a peaceful day.

The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running.

I wish everyone well who are about to clean up after their storms. And for those still in the storm, you have my prayers.

My scale is headed back down after a blip caused by my binge week. I see how my mood is affected by sugar. Pure sugar binges led to 4 days of intermittent crying. I've never made the connection before. Heard about it but didn't think it had that effect on me. Through the years I've suffered depression, which led to sugar, which made my depression worse, or so I can see from my new perspective. Wish I'd figured this out a long time ago! Would've saved my family lots of pain.

I'm meeting a friend for lunch today and have checked out the establishment's nutrition chart and found a garden burger. That will be a good choice for me. Fries will come with it, but usually I can leave half of them on my plate with no problem. I'm not much of a fry freak unless it's mcDonald's!

Good morning team! Praying for all of you who are "weathering" the effects of Sandy and her aftermath.
Soooo busy yesterday. Closed at work last night (til 10) and back up this AM at 7 with the dogs. Today plans were to run to the gym, do a PiYo class and then run home, but the winds here in the west Chi burbs are pretty heavy and with an official diagnosis of plantar faciaitis, altered the plans to just drive to PiYo, then do laps at the fitness center before work. Trying to get some recovery going without losing too much fitness (running wise). Still have on more 10K in a couple of weeks and then I guess I'll be keeping my runs on the short side. Have a sleeve to wear and rolling my foot on a tennis ball to try to get some relief. Seems to be helping a little.

I hope everyone is staying safe in Sandy's wake. We're largely unaffected here, but the pictures are just heartwrenching.

DH asked me to buy halloween candy on Saturday, he thought there might be trick or treaters coming around on the weekend instead of Wednesday. Nope. And then, we ate most of it. In our defense, October and November are usually a candy free-for-all. I'm very happy that we held off as long as we did. And I made DH hide the candy on Sunday, so if I want some, I have to ask him. It's helped.

Also, I went to the dentist yesterday, and I'm going to need a root canal emoticon
It hasn't been a good couple of days, though the scale was happy to see me this morning. I've got a little bit of cushion on my maintenance range now, which is nice.

If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

My inspiration for the day are all the stories of rescue workers.........fire department, police, EMTs, Coast Guard.......who have been out there in Hurricane Sandy helping people that have been caught up in, hurt in, or sadly...killed in, the storm. Good morning everyone! Hope you have all weathered the storm well. We're getting hit with some pretty strong winds off Lake Michigan today. Just hoping we don't lose power.

Take care and make it a good day.

Morning All,

emoticon

Hope everyone is safe and their property made it ok. The fam back in coastal NC made it through just fine, but I saw a sad facebook pic of a pier at OBX missing a huge section in the middle. Stretches of the beach road in Kitty Hawk were torn up too.

I was dreading logging in this morning because I knew I overate last night. I made a casserole and also some homemade bread. I gorged myself so much that I woke up still full! But, sparkendipity! I was within range. Awesome :)

We're off to New Orleans later today. What a month! Still on track, though, and my daily moving average keeps moving down.

We last heard from Bill's brother, refusing to evacuate on the NJ shore, yesterday noontime. All the phone lines have been tied up, of course. He's 3 blocks from the boardwalk, so we're hoping for the best.

Good morning, team... continued thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by Sandy.

Another quickie post. Got a call on the way to work that the receptionist is going to be out sick. That means I am the receptionist today, so it's going to be crazy-busy!

Yesterday was pretty good all around. I'm focused for today.

Have a great one!

Just got done with my 5.8 mile run, which I did in 3 parts (ran to the gym - 1.4 miles, ran 3 miles on the track, 1.4 miles home), and proceeded to start coughing up my lungs. Didn't realize how congested my chest was! Will make sure to take more Mucinex.

I realized I forgot to mention that yesterday, my BMI dropped below 30! YAY! I'm now overweight WITHOUT the large frame modifier! HOORAY! Just in time for my birthday too (it's coming up soon...)!

I will say that I'm a bit annoyed with my co-worker. She decided to sprinkle some salt on these mini-frittatas she wanted me to try that she's making for my birthday, and so I'm up to 2,000 mgs for the day. My feet and ankles are going to swell for sure...and the thing that ticks me off? She KNOWS I'm watching my sodium intake! ARGH! I did tell her to knock it off with the salt when she makes them for sure later in the week.

We didn't lose power (unless it happened while I was sleeping). I've heard from some FB friends in VA and NJ, and they are doing well.

I know some places didn't fare so well, though. I hope everyone stays safe!

yesterday went well - back on track, enjoying healthy home cooking after all the restaurant meals while we were at the conference. i made red lentil soup the night we came home, so we had leftovers, and then i made hummus, and potato leek soup monday, all vegan of course, and salad. weight is slipping down, too - there's always water weight after airplane travel. we managed to get out on two walks, a 3 miles in the a.m. and 2 more miles in the afternoon - pelle the border collie needs his exercise, he definitely put on weight while he was at border collie summer camp the past few weeks (which he appreciated after the hard work of training for the half marathon with me and a 3-day hiking trip with dad:-).

i've been checking in on my 97 y o dad in queens and my bro in nj, and all seems well, so far. stay safe, east coasters!

live every day so the border collie is happy for a good, active life!
