LOGOULD, hope you feel better SOON...but a word of warning about HRT: just beware of blood clots, since if you decide to go on HRT, chances are, part of it will be estrogen-based, there is a higher risk of DVT and pulmonary embolisms. I was on oral contraceptives in order to supress my periods (severe endometriosis made me miss at least one day a month of work, because of the pain), and developed a clot in my leg. So if you go on HRT, then have an unusual pain in your leg, don't ignore it, go to the doctor and INSIST on an ultrasound if one isn't immediately ordered. It could save your life.

Keep in mind that Heavy D died of a pulmonary embolism that started as a blood clot in his leg. These things are not to be trifled with.

Sorry for the TMI, but I really think that it's important stuff that people don't think about when considering the risks of hormonal treatment.

Banked cals so I could splurge on brunch with friends; calories at end of day were in range. Also walked about 40-45 minutes, so I'm doing well.

I'm here! Another crazy day at work as we try to play catch up and move the soon-to-be departing around trying to keep her busy, out of our way and not doing any damage. I was so frazzled when I got off work that I was sure it was the day that I was taking my mom shopping after work, so I drove across town, only to find her eating dinner with her friends. Duh...well, see you tomorrow, Mom! Got home and got dinner made just in time to call in for a grievance meeting with HR and the union reps (who we originally didn't think would even show up). Nothing will change in our situation but we did get heard and I think that HR will take some of the things we said to heart in going forward with other groups. I tried to eat quietly and make signs to my husband ('After you see folks...take empty, buy milk.') while on the call and finally had to sign out to quickly change my clothes and get out the door to choir practice. WHEW! Almost 10 o'clock and I finally get a breather. Yesterday I ended up low on calories but today I'm in range except for fat. I did get a brisk walk at work because I had to blow off steam after the soon-to-be departed did something I had expressly told her NOT to do 5 minutes earlier, thus creating rework and a delay in something I was working on. More fun and adventure tomorrow!

Woke up this morning feeling AWFUL! Nearly called in sick but that would be twice in three weeks and that just isn't like me. In three years I've only called in two times! Feeling a little better tonight, but still very tired. Haven't been sleeping well due to hot flashes. Dr and I are going to have a talk about HRT and if she isn't more agreeable this time around, another Dr and I will be having that talk. Got to meet up with a mentor/friend this evening and talk some stuff out and she is seconding my feelings on this, and other stuff that is stressing me out. Nutritionally the day went fine, but I am just not getting on the fitness bandwagon like I need to, Hopefully if I can get the hormones straightened out, I'll rest better, be less stressed and therefore, more energy.

I blew it yesterday and ate over 3,000 calories. I've been good so far today and am writing down a plan of action to make sure I get back on track. I'm over my goal by 3 pounds and I'm feeling like crap so hopefully I will maintain control for the rest of the day, make some good choices and start feeling better. I remember less than a week ago, I was thinking how much easier maintenance was than I thought it would be. Things were going so smoothly then...

I'm checking in...

All is great in my neck of the woods. Today is my awesome son's birthday (22), I'm not to far from my 1 year maintenance anniversary (woo-hoo!), my health is excellent and, well, life is good! Could it better, yes, but I'm thankful for the right here and now. Thank God!

BME_22 - LOL, that other ST sounds like a lot more fun than the one we've got here.

62NVON - Glad you're feeling better.

4 miles done this morning. An ST video this afternoon (the dull kind!) to bridge the gap between the Mon & Fri class.

The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running.

Christie, glad your collarbone is feeling better!

Another quick check-in during a meeting break. Planning to see Naomi (Bluebirdsfly) again tonight and introduce her to DH, who is on his way to Montreal.

I just have to come back and add - I used to participate on a Getting Pregnant message board, where the acronym ST stood for "sexy time". It's been a bit of an adjustment coming here and reading these posts :)

Morning everyone,

Yes I had a battle with myself about going outside for a walk and finally almost pushed my way out the door. Felt so much better after but good grief I sure didn't want to go by the time I got home from work.

Have a healthy day

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

Had a good morning today. I had a good boot camp class, but unfortunately, I was stuck in a spot in the room where it was difficult to see what the instructor was doing, because someone else had already taken my spot when I got there (I tend to be territorial...kind of like Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory"), so although it was a hard workout, it didn't go as well as I'd hoped. Going to do some more abs and some other strength training after work today as well as my swim.

I also did my weekly weigh-in and discovered that I lost 3 pounds this week. I think my body is telling me that I'm not *quite* ready for maintenance yet, but I'm still trying to keep consistent with my food intake and exercise as best I can, and if I lose, great. If I maintain, great. The only thing I don't want to do is gain. Last week, I had found that I was just putting too much pressure on myself to lose instead of just enjoying the process of healthy eating and exercise, which had prompted me to consider maintenance. So I've just got to get back into the "just focus on healthy eating and exercise and have faith that your body will do the rest" mentality that has proven to be successful for the past 10 months.

I also decided (after having a lot of co-workers tell me that I needed to do this) to share my story with Huffington Post, so I emailed them my story as well as before and current pictures (well, a picture of me after the Camp Good Grief 5k race). If they publish it, great. If not, that's OK too. I just want to share with people that you can lose over 100 pounds in a reasonable time by eating healthy, exercise and no gimmicks or surgery.

So have a Wonderful Wednesday, everyone! :)

Jane

emoticon Good Morning Team emoticon

Yesterday I lost a war with myself about exercising. Aimed for a run right after work, but I was too hungry and ended up starting dinner right away. Told myself I'd go after dinner... but I didn't. Boo. I ate doritos on the couch while BF went. Got some quality sleep though!

So today I'll focus on better planning. I need to have a snack right before I leave work so I'll be ready to dress out and hit the road as soon as I get home.

If anyone is looking for some ST routines to add to the mix, I highly suggest womenshealthmag.com's Stability Ball Workout. I am STILL sore from the workout on Sunday ;)

Well, first successful week of maintenance, I weigh the same as I did last week. (edit: oops, I guess I did lose 0.2-0.6 lbs, so small, but a loss)

Adding a better breakfast in this week. For the past five months, I've been drinking coffee and milk for breakfast, and just having an early lunch. This week I'm having toasted english muffins with brie and honey, and an apple. I could get used to this, I think :)

Ah, Wednesday. This means it's almost Friday, right?

Good morning, team!

With muscle relaxer and rest, my neck/collarbone/shoulder area feels a little better. I'm toying with the idea of a lower body and/or cardio workout tonight. I'll go easy on the arm movements if I do. It pretty much depends on how I feel at the end of the day. It may be better to go one more day of rest, even though it kills me to do that... LOL

Have a great day!
