Walked almost 5 miles, and eating is close to in range for this time of day. Plus much of that walking was on hills, so I really felt it!

I had a good day. Food was right on and getting back into an exercise schedule seems to be working too. Started putting pumpkin stickers on my calendar on those days that I meet my daily goals....so far so good. Have a great night.

After yesterday's successful run, today it's just walking. 4 miles so far and since it's a beautiful day maybe a few more this afternoon. It's an me day - no deeds to do, no promises to keep.
The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running.

Afternoon all. Hope everyone is having a good day so far. I've got a doctor's appointment tonight (after work). I'm hoping to get in a 3 mile walk with the Fuzzy Personal Trainer before the cold front hits!

Love all the black bean hints! We're having tilapia tonight with a Kim Crawford sauv blanc that we both like. Tomorrow I'm on my own, so I'm planning to make WHITE bean chicken chili. :-D
Good luck with the race, Susan!
Today is a telework day for me, and I'm glad I had the extra time in bed. I think I may have gotten 7-8 hours of much-needed but also much-interrupted sleep. I had to get up FOUR times to go to the bathroom and FIVE times to work out leg cramps. Then, the cat woke me repeatedly with his kneading, and I had to get up when I heard him hurl. As for the bathroom needs, all those trips left me feeling very dehydrated. Since we got back from travel, my weight went from 148.6 Tuesday (lots of salty food) to 144 yesterday to 141.2 today. That's a lot of water loss, so I'll be eating more salt today to hold in the extra water my body needs.

Note to self: get black beans out of freezer. Yesterday afternoon/evening I felt like I had to do everything all at once all by myself, so while I got things done I wasn't happy about it! Went cross-town to pick up cat 2's prescription and the vet hadn't called it in, so I'll have to go back this evening after I take my Mom shopping, adding extra time to my evening commute. Forgot entirely that I was supposed to pick up my husband's prescription--I work at the medical center, so it's easy for me to do, IF I remember. Kitten still peeing inappropriately--ordered a motion activated "startle" contraption to see if that keeps him away from his chosen spot. Laundry, cat box, cat medicating, cat feeding, dishes, dinner, choir practice, dinner prep for tonight when I'll get home late...and still there's far more to do. Poor me! Did OK on food, not so good on exercise. I'm at the high point in my weekly weight cycle and it's lower than last week's high, so things are still going in the right direction.

Had a good swim this morning, doing 1600 meters of breaststroke. My doctor's visit yesterday, however, was a mixed bag. He's thrilled with my weight loss (19.5 pounds lost since my prior visit 2 months ago), but my INR was 1.5 (supposed to be between 2.0 and 3.0). He adjusted my medication, and I go back next month. BOTHER!
I have a training session this afternoon with one of the personal trainers at my gym, and I'm hoping to get some ideas for exercises that will help with strengthening my joints a bit more and improving my agility. Can't wait!

Started off the day with a great run. I love running on the treadmill because I can really push myself. I did some intervals, running 30 seconds at 8:30 pace, 1 min at 9:00 pace, and then the "easy" pace was 10:00 min pace. That's so funny, because a few months ago, 10:00 min pace would have totally kicked my butt! Also got in a 45 min. ST workout and will be in class all morning without the temptation to overeat that sometimes arises after a hard workout. All set to get back on track!

The nice weather inspired me yesterday to really give the house a good cleaning! I opened the windows and hung loads of laundry outside! The only thing I have left is to dust today. Now I will have time for a longer walk today, IF it stops raining! But I can do my dusting and wipe down the bathroom, kitchen, and floors to keep them sparkly clean. Heavy cleaning like I did always gives me a bit of a weight loss, one pound at weigh in this morning. I have got to try to keep it off!

You know, some days I don't feel like doing my workout and today is one of those days! Dinner tonight with youngest daughter who is a makeup Diva and is going to help me get my "girly" on - WooHoo!

Tummy is now growling for black bean soup at 8:30am..
Yesterday I met ((almost)) all my goals. Ran with doggie and then went to yogalates/power yoga/whatever they're calling it now. I really didn't want to go to the gym, but I'm proud that I pushed through it because it was wonderful and just what I needed. I'm actually SORE this morning... haven't felt that way in weeks! Didn't get around to cleaning, thus I didn't have any clean work slacks this morning to wear. So I'm wearing my old size chub pants and I look like a slob from the waist down. Oh well, I'll just stay in my office today.
Forgot my lunch at home! I'll have to walk over the grocery store and pick out something acceptable....sigh. In a perfect world they would have freshly made healthy black bean soup :)

It must be fall, with all this talk of black bean soup! I love it too! Did you know Spark has a black bean hummus recipe--yummy!
As of this morning I know that feeling of motivation to get through the weekend without a spree. I finally dropped a pound (well actually two, but that was because of last weekend's water weight boost), after what felt like a lot of hard work. (When I look back, I've only been really pushing myself for a week.) This is what "long haul" means. Push for those long-term, consistent losses instead of bouncing up and down a pound or two without end.

Good morning!
Susan, I love black beans too. I have some dried ones in the cabinet. You have inspired to me to soak them tonight to cook for the weekend. Good luck on your 13.1!
LOGOULD, I am not a morning person, but I have to be. I have an hour commute to work, so I have to get up at 5:30 a.m. I would LOVE to work out in the mornings, but it just doesn't work out for me. What new DVD do you have? I have quite a collection!
Yesterday's eating was superb. I did a ST workout last night. I didn't hit my 12 cups of water goal, but I had 10+.
Today should be easy-peasy again. With DH out of town, I don't have to worry about dinner prep. I can do a simple grilled protein with roasted veggies. I'm going to hit the cardio tonight.
Also, the scale has FINALLY cooperated with all my hard work. Even though my official weight is recorded on Wednesday, I am down to 134 today. This is great motivation to rein in my weekend splurging, although I am leaving room Sunday for RenFest.

Good Morning! Good luck on your race Sue. I too am planning to make a black bean soup. Mine will be a Southwestern chicken one with black beans, barley, corn and left over chicken. I am having issues with leg cramps after I do a run/walk. Had a really good run walk yesterday and then last night I was hit with foot cramps every couple of hours. I had over 12 glasses of water so I was hydrated but the cramps kept waking me up.

Good morning - and best wishes to you, SWEDE_SU, on your half marathon. Which one are you doing? Praying for good weather for you all all the other racers this weekend! Ahhh, black been soup. I think I need to make a pot soon...you've got my tummy growling already this morning. I try to make a pot of soup (one kind or another) each week or so and then freeze what we don't eat at that meal. Leaves me with a nice variety of quick to heat and eat meals in the freezer.
I'm up extra early this morning, not sure why I can't fall back to sleep. This almost NEVER happens, and today is not the best day to have this problem, but, what can you do. I am going to work 8-5, then to the gym for a quick run and some hills on the treadmill, then to church for lighting practice and then home by around 9:30 tonight.
Guess I can use the extra time this morning to try to check out a new exercise DVD. Been trying to get the motivation to get some fitness in before work...can't really say I'm motivated to do it this morning, but I have the time, so I'll give it a shot and then if I am really dragging after work, I can be a bit kinder to myself.
Have a great day everyone!

good morning, bright sunshine yesterday, but coollldddd morning! it was 32F when we headed out for the morning walk. we were going to explore another stretch of the 30-mile road we've been walking and running, but it was blocked by a tree after tuesday's wind storm, so we parked, walked around the tree, and found a new dirt road that we walked up for a total of 6 miles along a beautiful stream.
made a huge pot of black beans that became dinner with a salad - black bean soup has to be one of the easiest and tastiest around. and the salt weight finally dropped off - back down to a nice safe 104.
two more days until my half marathon!
