Had a pretty good day today. I actually felt productive at work for once, usually I don't have a whole lot to do so it makes the day go by pretty slow. I went out for lunch w/ my BFF at this great "fast casual" locally owned place that serves all organic and local foods. Had a delicious steak sandwich. Then this evening I attended a volunteer orientation for a program called Cooking Matters, which is part of Share Our Strength/No Child Hungry. They teach healthy eating/cooking classes to low income folks, and I've signed up to be a class assistant. Actual chefs teach the classes. I'm excited to take all of what I've learned these past 9 months about healthy cooking and eating and help teach it to others. Also, they teach menu planning and grocery shopping strategies, which are my favorite hobbies pretty much, so I'm very excited about this opportunity. Since I didn't get out of my training until after 8, I picked up Chipotle for dinner for BF and I. I love Chipotle because I can eat for under 500 calories and it's very filling. So, I stayed in range...towards the lower end actually, and I kept my sodium under 2100, which is great for having eaten out for 2 meals!
I also "yelled" at my mom tonight... she's just getting started with Sparkpeople and is having a hard time with the tracking. I've even offered to track for her, she can just tell me what she ate over the phone (she lives a few states away) She went to a birthday party tonight and had 4 small slices of pizza (I found a similar type pizza in the tracker and it was only 538 calories for what she ate, so I don't know why she's so upset about it), and she didn't want to track it. I told her she HAS to track it, that's the only way this will work. She said "well it's just one day" and I told her excuses like that is what is causing her to not lose weight. I felt kind of bad for being "bad cop" here but in the end, that's what she needs to hear.
Spent half the day flying, and was stuck with airport food - but made relatively healthful choices, got in a walk, and drank tons of water. Tomorrow is another day.

Was at the high end of my range today, but had an evening run with a running group that I joined. I am the slowest, by far, but I am still running laps around everyone else sitting at home in front of the TV. I know that if I stick with it, these folks will continue to challenge me and I will get faster. Plus, they will run through the winter (at least most of it) and that will help me to learn to run outside in the dark and the cold and I will stay more consistent so I won't be starting over again in the spring. Gotta hit the sack though. Only 7.5 hours till I'm back up and going again.

BBENNETT - good job coming back and making a plan. That'll get you back there in no time!
Yesterday I went over my calories by about 200. The good news is I wrote it down and then stopped eating (as opposed to deciding that "since I've blown it anyway, may as well eat everything" which is a pretty common response for me). I just got on with today and have done well with activity & nutrition.
Actually had a killer workout this morning. One of the "Insanity" dvds that I have. Fun and challenging!

I reached my goal weight, last Thursday, lost another pound by Friday, went away for the weekend, and have gained a total of 5.5 pounds in 4 days! I've been trying to get back on track, but am having a hard time. I wrote down a plan for the day to make sure I eat right and get in some good exercise. Hopefully tomorrow will look better.

It's been a hellacious day. I met the drywall contractor this morning at the rental condo to fix the ceilings that were cut open to repair the dryer vents, which was supposed to be the source of the leaking. We found one hole raining on the toilet. Obviously something upstairs is still leaking. So I had to run up and down the stairs a thousand times, and spend hours on the phone. Then I had to go to Mom's to start figuring out her health insurance for next year. Dad's former employer (she is his survivor) is discontinuing their retiree health coverage. That will be hours trying to figure out what to do next. She is in a condition where I no longer want diagnostic tests of any kind. If they found something she wouldn't understand and wouldn't be able to cooperate. And there is no return from declining into dementia.
So, of course, I didn't get to eat much today. I'd like to not make dinner but I really have to. I never seem to find time to eat when I am stressed.

Hi everyone! This has definitely not been a week of moderation for me, lol! I've made it through two out of three celebratory meals out and have one more on Friday before I can go back to normal. I'm scaling back on my calories the other days of the week to try to offset a bit of the damage and might do the same next week depending on what the scale says on Monday. After that I'd like to start slowly inching down towards the bottom of my range so I have a bit of a cushion before the holidays start up. I figure if I give myself two months, I'll only have to make small changes.

Celebrating my 74th birthday today..... Years ago, it would have been a pig-out day, but these days it's a lot more satisfying keeping things in moderation.

Morning. Another beautiful, but cooler day here. I plan to spend some time gardening and throwing a load or two of laundry in the washer, but have no special things I have to do today.

Everyone is doing great, here! Huzzah!
I'm hanging in and have been really proud of the way I seem to be doing less and less stress eating and eating more nutritionally overall.
Hoping to reach a goal of 135 pounds this coming Sunday. If I do not reach it, s'ok as I am happy with my weight (since once long ago I weighed 247, the weight loss goals this year are regain pounds from 117). I am a happy maintainer and if I have to keep losing pounds over and over again, I will (am) doing it.
I don't track on spark but have been here more than this current account and the enthusiasm here and great success stories on the site help me a lot.

Happy Tuesday!
I've been back from vacation for over 24 hours, and I am reflecting on my time away. Being at my parents' was not as hard as I thought it would be, I had a strong resolve. Right away my dad took me to the store so I could buy all the foods I wanted for my healthy eating. I convinced him to switch to oatmeal with blueberries, instead of regular cereal. They saw me grabbing fruit instead of cookies. Veggies with my meal. I did have what they had for suppers, but in moderation.
I was successful over all, but had one afternoon and evening that I had a binge. I didn't beat myself up over it, and blogged about it, to find support, of which I received an abundance.
I exercised on all my scheduled days. Got 10,000 steps most days, and ST 2 days. I feel victorious and happy to see that I didn't give up on my new lifestyle just to "enjoy" myself on vacation. After all, if I'd gone crazy with food or not working out, I really wouldn't have enjoyed that!
I have not weighed myself yet, I am leaving that for a few days, to allow for a little recovery from the fluid retention I get from flying. But I am quite hopeful I haven't gained any weight. I'll let you know if I'm wrong.

It was slow at work yesterday, so I took the afternoon off. Resisted the temptation to take myself out to lunch. Tried a new recipe for lemon "brownies", ate one and brought the rest in to work today. Of course, I had a second one with my coffee this morning! Stayed up too late and woke up before the alarm. Still, I think I'm turning my slump around.

Good morning!
Good day yesterday. Ate within calories and got in a run and ST workout before class. I was down a pound this morning--good to know that good deeds are rewarded just as bad deeds are punished. Today is a rest day, but I want to make sure I stay within my calories. My birthday party's coming up this Saturday, so I need to get down to the bottom of my calorie range in preparation for the party.

Hi, all!
Like Lebo, I had a great yoga class last night, though pain from the inflamed SI joints made it more difficult. I kept pushing through the pain, though I limited the intensity of stretches. My back felt better, and I didn't get the burning ache again until this morning.
Planning to walk and do ST today.

Morning Everyone!
Yoga was INCREDIBLE last night, I'm so glad that I went. I still feel all loosey-goosey. The instructor was the lady who actually owns the studio so she knew her stuff, plus there were 2 students in teacher training walking around, so I got adjusted like 12 times! It felt almost like a private session.
My goals today are 1)Take doggie for a run after work 2) ST this evening at the gym--- why am I paying for membership if I NEVER go?? 3) Make dinner for 2 nights.

Good morning, team!
I'm getting ready to start the work day. Yesterday was stellar. I could have gotten in more water, but I did get 8. Nutrition was good, and I had a great circuit workout.
Since DH is out of town, I got to bed a little earlier and had a really good sleep.

It's suddenly much cooler here. I'm waiting for the temp to rise to the mid 40s before my run/walk. Below that and I need a sweatshirt.
I got 5 miles done yesterday. 3 intense before the funeral (sad, gone too soon, but a lovely service) and 2 miles afterwards with DH (the junk food king of the world). I let him set the pace but secretly timed it to get an idea of his fitness level. 22 min/mile. I haven't had much luck changing his eating habits, but maybe I can get him moving some more.
Have a good day everyone.
Congratulations, Tortoise!

When I was walking this morning, I started playing a mental tape of my daily walk for 6 years in NH. It came back to me so clearly that I got disoriented for about half a minute and felt like I was there! I loved that walk, but, funny, it was HALF the length of my morning walks here!

good morning! still smokey from the wildfires, so we headed north, exploring another 2.5 mile stretch of the country road we've been walking and running. added to a walk to the apple tree after lunch, we got in our 5 miles for the day, taking it easy after sunday's long run.
nutrition went well - calories stayed within limits.
but did not get to ST - i WILL do that today...
