My tracking says my calories are in range - though with grilled shrimp from a restaurant, it's always difficult to tell what they added.

Walked about 4 miles again today. Gotta burn off those beignets! (Good thing we fly out tomorrow though, LOL!)

Walked about 4 miles today, probably experienced too much New Orleans food. Drank more fluid than yesterday, which is good (got a little dehydrated in the humidity).

Rest day so I only did 60 min of intervals on the elliptical trying to ease up my screaming back pain that prevented me from getting much sleep last night. My weight is unintentionally decreasing, down to 116, below my minimum bottom weight of 118. Unusual as I very carefully track my nutrition in relation to my workouts. When I have a four fitness class day, I am way over my calorie range for maintenance as I eat an energy bar before each set of workouts. In fact, I have been struggling to stay UNDER my range for the last month. Being a vegetarian, its a struggle to eat enough to get the calories as I eat LOTS of fruits and veggies and they are stuffing me leaving not much room for anything else. Yes, I eat nuts, and have natural pure almond butter. olive oil for salad dressing, but because of all the fiber I am getting, I can't fit much whole grain in, nothing but 10 whole grain brown rice crackers with my evening meal. I also get protein from cottage cheese, cheese & Greek yogurt. I meet all nutritional requirements every day.

When one door closes, I simply kick down another one!! Never Give up!

Good Afternoon! I have a teen-ager and my house is fully stocked with chips, cookies, ice cream, etc. On the other hand we were never a snacking family. We ate 3 meals and the kids had an evening sweet snack instead of dessert at dinner. Most of the time I have no desire to eat the food I buy for her.

Have a great day!

After a good day yesterday I was able to post a good number for the maintenance challenge. FIL may be going home from the hospital today, but husband is concerned that he's not that much better and there isn't any plan in place to make sure he doesn't wind up back in the hospital in a week. He went to the hospital early to make sure he catches the doctor to make sure that we're getting the full and correct story. While we recognise that Dad isn't going to make any grand improvements at this stage of the game, we do want to make sure that the last stage of his life is as long and comfortable as it can be and that we do our best to care for him. Unfortunately, my beloved has ADHD and particularly under stress starts sounding hysterical, which makes it difficult to convey to his brothers that he's really got valid and rational concerns.
Junk food junkie? Sugar is one of my husband's major food groups, he won't eat fruit and I'm not sure he eats any vegetables that I don't put in front of him. He was a batchelor for a long time and still eats more or less like he did in his 20s...though he says his capacity has diminished considerably. Fortunately for me, he isn't that big on chips (which I can't leave alone) and prefers ice cream (which I can ignore).

Peri, it takes a lot of food to keep up hard exercise. My youngest son hiked the Appalachian Trail, Georgia to Maine, and I had to send him pre-packaged trail food. It was the first time in my life I'd looked at food labels to select the MOST calories, and he STILL lost weight. I have a friend whose son was training for the Olympics in swimming. She said they had seminars for the mothers on how to give their kids 10,000 calories a day. Believe it or not, that takes as much planning as calorie restriction.

Then I have my friend who rode his bicycle across the country, ocean to ocean, twice. We ride those distances with him on our motorcycles, and we were joking that at least he didn't have to pay for gas on the bicycle. He said he spent far more on food than he would have on gas. And he is thin as a whip.

Happy day today. Not weigh-in-wise, which was 131.5, which is on the tippy-top of my range. But I ran a 5k in 28:04, which is a PR by 4 minutes! I was amazed at myself for running 9 minute miles, which I've never done in training before. I guess the adrenaline carried the day! It was a crisp 39 degrees at the start. Oddly enough, I ended up hot!

I was going to buckle down today, but between the pre-race eating and the post-race food tent, I've already consumed 1,000 calories today, and it's only 10:45 am. HELLO! How did THAT happen? Gotta take it easy the rest of the day, esp. since 3 miles is not enough exercise to have burned that off!

I live with a health nut--in fact, were he to participate in a message board, for years he would have been complaining about ME as the junk food addict! He is a marathon runner who regularly eats salads for his main meal. Actually, he could go without meals, just take a pill for his nutrition. He gets no pleasure out of food. I guess I'm luckily--it means there's nothing that he keeps around the house that's tempting to me, and he regularly gets fruits and veggies for himself that I end up nibbling!

Morning everybody! I decided to take it easy on this gorgeous Sunday morning, too. Then Bill pointed out to me that I'd already cleaned the lanai, put in a load of laundry, made the bed, emptied the dishwasher, and put on a pot of coffee. But that's just normal. No WORK work today, which I sometimes fall into because I have a home office.

I'm lucky, Brook. My husband, Bill, isn't into junk food at all (unless beer counts; hm, I guess beer would count, huh?). But, as far as food-food goes, he does all the cooking and the worst he gets is to use heavy cream and cheese sometimes. He's the one who taught me not to eat until I'm hungry and to stop when I'm full and save the leftovers for another meal! I can take credit only for getting him to consume less pizza, hot dogs, heavy cream, and cheese.

Morning all. Iím up and cooking a vegan black bean chili to take to Church for our luncheon after the service. Itís is a beautiful Fall day. Sunny and brisk.

Brooklyn, I do. My husband! Well not junk in the case of sweets or fast food places, but loves good Southern cooking with plenty of salt and butter! But since he also loves to cook we each do our own things for the most part. He, of course, is very thin and picky about food. More meat and potatoes, less fruits and vegetables.

Hi everyone! Had the first of my three meals out last night and went a bit more overboard than I had initially planned. I just couldn't resist all of the wonderful cheese. I'm back on track today and am planning a long walk/run to undo some of the damage. I also think that I'm going to generally scale my calories back the days of the week where I'm not eating out this week. I had initially planned to do that next week but think doing it this week as well will help to minimize any gains that might come from so many meals out. Wish me luck! Hope everyone else has a great start to their week as well.

My name's Tina. I lost more than 90 pounds between March 2010 and March 2012 and have been keeping if off ever since.

My hubby was a junk food eater until he was diagnosed with diabetes. Now there is no junk food in the house. You mentioned coupons; most of the coupons I see are for stuff I wouldn't have in my house, so I rarely if ever use them. Hubby has to be careful not to overdo the fruit, though. And he can keep dark chocolate around because I can't stand it. We are retired so Sunday is just another day. I go to church on Saturday night in order to leave my wonderful mornings my own.

Speaking of which, I need to clean up the breakfast dishes. I hate having dishes sit in the sink.

Good morning, team!

I did okay yesterday, but ended up a little snacky and short on water. That resulted in some water weight this morning. I did manage to get in a pretty good circuit workout which has me feeling a little sore this morning. Cardio later will work some of that out.

As for BROOKLYN's question, my hubs has been making a concerted effort to eat better. He has never had a weight problem, but just wants to be healthier. His son is living with us now. He loves junk food, but he doesn't have money to spend on it, and we don't buy it.

I hope everyone has a beautiful day. =)

Good for you, Brooklyn, starting us out. Made quiches yesterday creating own recipe and they came out great. Then I got up this morning and found I had left them out on counter overnight.
Amazing when you google how many people have done this - like me in the quandary of do we eat or not (please don't say cuz dh or both of us might just do it).
My dh is a junk food addict (you probably already figured this, Brooklyn). He was definitely not on the support side when I started eating better. But then, gasp, I stopped cutting the coupons and buying the stuff for him. Not to change him, but because of things changing with me. On his own, he started asking about "my" foods, and I had to increase my purchases because he started eating "my" foods also. Well, some really good sales lately (with coupons :) and our pantry is filled with his treats (and freezer). They are not things that really tempt me and he has cut way down since eating healthier foods (I think or he just doesn't eat in front of me). Only item that I wish weren't in the house is the diet soda - I leave it alone and then find myself back at a glass or two.

Good morning all - I DO LOVE Sunday mornings! I'm with you, BROOKLYN. Sunday is my day of "rest" too. Not that I don't do anything, next Sunday I will run a 5K race, today I will shoot of a resume and letter of a potential employer, but no matter what else I am doing, it is something to contribute to my overall spiritual, mental, physical and emotional health and well being and it always begins with extra quiet time and church to go and worship with my church family. Really helps me keep everything in proper perspective.

Does anyone else share a house or a life with a person addicted to junk food?
OH MY GOSH - Y*E*S!!! I live with my sister who is partly disabled, and thankfully I do most of the cooking, but she will eat from the moment she gets up all through the day and has NO regard for the amount of junk that she puts in her body. It doesn't matter that I have fresh fruit and veggies etc etc etc easily accessible. She does eat the fruit sometimes, but the amount of cereal and milk and chips and quantities even of healthy food....plus her "treats", well, that is why she weighs one and a half times what I do. I keep trying to get her to understand that she will hurt less and her body will quit falling apart as quickly if she will just lose some of the weight, but she is still searching for the magic pill.

Finally decided on my weight goal. I will and can live with any number under 140, so, as of this morning, I am within 2.8 lbs - going to do my check-in measurements and set up the tracker etc etc etc today. Church this morning and got to get the items set off for the potential new job. Was hoping to get to the gym this morning before church, but I know that nothing else would get done then, so I do my ab/back work while doing computer work and go for a short run after church. Tonight is a dinner for the tech arts team at church (I do the stage lighting), so I'm going to be careful today so that I don't have to stress about tonight.

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A PEACEFUL, RELAXING AND REFRESHING SUNDAY!!!

still dark here in WA at 4:30. yesterday we took a long walk on a country road we've been exploring, a few miles at a time. 7 miles in the a.m., then a couple more miles later that day.

nutrition seemed to be ok, but weight is up today. but with a 12 mile run planned, it shouldn't stay that way. last long run before the half marathon in 2 weeks...

not a junk food addict in this house, but one who still has his chips and cheese around. luckily not my favorite types of chips (or at least i've been able to resist), and he is active enough that they haven't had a negative impact on his weight (and he controls the quantities too).

Itís almost 7am and Iím watching the sun rise higher over the lake. A beautiful start to a Sunday which is always my day of rest.

At yesterdayís picnic I behaved myself foodwise. There were actually more healthy options than last year. One older guy made a healthy coleslaw himself! Good for him. Heís sending me the recipe. DH didnít behave himself which prompted my blog for today.

Does anyone else share a house or a life with a person addicted to junk food?
