I went out for French food last night and stayed away from the French fries and bread..but did eat olives and seafood bouillabaise. I am up a pound. I went to the gym and did strength training and the elliptical. Today's goal is to exercise again and work that pound off. I really am happier when I maintain under my goal weight.

Congrats Tanya! You look fantastic!! Celia, I would ditch that trainer -what they are having you do is BAD for your back, I can't believe they think that is safe lifting that way. You always bend at the knees and keep your back straight to lift anything from the floor. Your Dr. and/or pyhsiotherapist should be giving you the proper exercises for your back.
Had to give up my morning bootcamp to go shopping. My favorite protein powder was on sale finally at Costco, so I needed to stock up and also I needed a new printer and some groceries not available at costco. Four stores in four hours, then home and to the bridge club where I came 2nd overall of 28 tables. missing my exercise, I took an advanced step class for an hour this evening. My food was reasonable, but the half of a Polish hot dog I shared with Mom for a speedy lunch and the iced tea put me over me calories for the day.

When one door closes, I simply kick down another one!! Never Give up!

Very light run this morning - last of the season with the residents of the homeless shelter that we work with. Then work from 9-6 and lunch out with a coworker.....pumpkin pecan pancakes! Was pretty good, brought my own syrup...only 1 TBLSP whipped butter and egg beaters for the eggs. Ate light for dinner. A H*U*G*E honeycrisp apple (3/4pound), very filling. Had a very healthy breakfast and snack and made sure it was all lean protein and veggies, so doing good still nutrition wise. Only a little time to catch up on correspondence sitting on the swiss ball at the computer and working in some abs in between responding to e-mails and sparking. Work 7-4 tomorrow and then day off Sunday! YEAH!!!

TanyaP71, congrats on 11 months of maintenance!

I'm having a good day - eating in range, and walking all over exploring a new city. We'll see what the evening brings.

Surprisingly, I came in mid-range with my calories (despite sampling New Orleans traditional foods) - plus we walked 8 miles. I was so hot and tired when we got back to our hotel at 8:30 PM, I really didn't even want dinner - DH insisted I needed something (and he was right) so I had most of a "big salad" and a small small piece of cheesecake. (Hey, it was a really limited menu and we had no energy to go exploring for another restaurant.)

11 months of maintenance for me today. Good day yesterday. Got in a 5K and Centergy class. Splurged on a glass of hardonnay with my salmon for dinner.

Happily at 1 1/2 pounds below goal and inching down towards 20% body fat.

Peri- Your weight this morning isn't fat. It's bulk from what you ate last night and should.... er.... pass within the next couple of days.

Hi everyone! Just finishing up a pretty good day. Did well on calories and today was a day off from the gym, so I just got in a bit of walking. Weight is where it should be, so I'm happy! The next week will present a bit more of a problem because my birthday is coming up and I've got three meals out on tap. I plan to enjoy them, stick to my usual plan for the rest of the week, try to work in a little extra exercise where I can to offset a bit of the damage then go back to my usual plan once the week's done. Two out of the three meals would ordinarily be part of my maintenance plan, so I'll really just have to deal with the consequences of the one extra meal out. I don't plan to cut back on what I eat when I go out but may have to make some adjustments next week depending on what the scale says. I'll just do a few days of weight loss level calories if need be.

My name's Tina. I lost more than 90 pounds between March 2010 and March 2012 and have been keeping if off ever since.

Ate a TON last night at my book club. Luckily I gorged on food I brought--raw veggies and fruit salad. I came home to tally the damage and was pleased to see that I was only 50 cal. over my limit for the day, since i had skimped earlier and stuck to healthy snacks.

Tonight we are having people over for dinner. They are bringing dessert, which is dangerous. We're making pizza, too. And it's a rest day for me, so I don't have many calories to play with. Looking forward to a good workout tomorrow to try to make up for it.

I'm getting the sense that maintaining is all about being a rubber band--you stretch too much one way (eating too much) and you need to stretch the other way (limiting calories or working out more). It's a constant balancing act.

Lo and behold, I gained 2 pounds after last night, though I have to believe some of that is water/fiber content since I was eating broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, apples, etc. I miss those days when the scale just kept inching down predictably. Guessing how much I'm going to gain from an indulgent night is not fun.

What I would really wish for is a "clean" week--without distractions, social engagements, and with plenty of time to get in full workouts. If I could have that, I could get on the low end of my range so I didn't feel so nervous like I do now, 1 pound away from the upper limit.

Good news is that I signed up for a 10-mile run at the end of October. Running is what is going to keep me from ballooning. Crossing my fingers that I don't get injured!

What a beautiful day in Virginia! Equal day and night today, then the nights will start getting longer. I am grateful for electric light, cfl or incandescant, either one. Just light!

OneWeigh- I am SO GLAD your FIL is feeling a little improvement. What blood type is he? He can have some of mine! :-)

MZHHERE- Told you! emoticon

As for me, no exercise again today. Massage scheduled here in a bit. Back isn't quite as bad today, but I knew better than to exercise until I feel like it's out of the woods. Made an apple cake I'd been wanting to try the recipe for yesterday and ate too much of it. Leaving the rest for my skinny 15-year old!

Weight still up...Laura, I need to get some of your weight loss mode going here! I've got no one to blame but myself and no one can change it but me. I'm afraid I'll be out of the challenge this week unless I do a real quick deflate in the next two days. I didn't do too badly at the potluck--I should have chosen one dessert instead of a bit of three, though. I'm really annoyed at waking up at 4 am when the alarm doesn't go off until 6. Once the kitten knows I'm awake it's game time, so it's hard to get any meaningful sleep after that. My FIL is feeling a bit perkier after being given two units of blood, but they're still not sure why he can't eat. His CT showed old news--a severely enlarged heart and extensive arterial disease. Nothing they can do about that. We're going ahead with our plans for the weekend--a trip to a film festival in Port Townsend. Enjoy the last day of summer, everyone! emoticon

Got out of bed this morning...and didn't notice my tailbone! Pain is much better this morning - will try a walk today. Every time I get pretty close to almost eating to bmr the scale drops the next day. It still amazes me that to lose I needed to eat more. About l lb away from goal. Since I am still working to eat at bmr, I won't be surprised if I lose more than goal. Once I reach it, I plan on continuing to track just to be sure I am at least to bmr.
Still struggling to force myself to work on shoulders, arms - I don't think it is just the pain deterring me. I don't like to feel weak and it makes me face how limited upper body has become. Need to put my eyes on the prize - having that strength back!

OMG, Celia, I would have thought a PT would have you using your legs, i.e., SQUATTING, to pick up the barbell and put it back down, not bending! Do I hear you right?

Yes, as Brooklyn said, it's a beautiful day here in Virginia, and we've had a very good run on nice weather lately. I haven't gotten much cardio in the last few days, but I plan to walk today. I had ST yesterday and told my trainer about the sacroiliitis and the stretches/physical therapy exercises my doctor gave me. So my trainer had me doing a lot of back exercises yesterday. The worst part, though, was picking up the barbell for curls. It was only about 30 pounds, but bending to lift the barbell up to my waist and then bending to lower it after each set was VERY painful. After the third set, my trainer took the bar from me to put it back on the floor, saying it was painful watching me. Well, dearie, it was painful to do it!

That's right, it is the last day of summer... so tomorrow is first day of Autumn. My favorite! I will celebrate by roasting a sugar pumpkin and digging up a bunch of recipes.

I was below cals yesterday too :( STOP THINKING YOU'RE STILL IN WEIGHT-LOSS MODE LAURA!! To compensate, this morning I treated myself to a McD's Sausage McMuffin. Yes, yes I know they're loaded with preservitives and inorganic materials, but it was a treat. I noticed they're listing the calories next to their menu items at the drive-thru now, which is helpful!

Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

We're entering our "paradise" time of year, when the temps are just about perfect all the time. In the winter, we'll have a few days when I'll have to wear a heavier coat and hat, but never again a day too snowy or icy to take a walk!

Did well two nights in a row on keeping myself below 5 oz. of wine, but no impact on my weight yet. Tonight, though, we have our Friday night out with friends, and the stupid restaurant has happy hour. I plan to refuse the second glass and ask for half price on the first. (Bill thinks I've joined the WCTU, lol!)

Arriving at first weekend in maintenance feeling calm and confident. I didn't gain it all back in a few days--lol! Really i am comfortable in calorie range I have been eating, so I am moving on thinking I want to be a couple of pounds less to allow some flex in eating. Next week I will figure out new goals all around. I know that in a few years i want to be a successful maintainer and will need to be vigilant. For me that will mean tracking weight and no ducking it!

A beautiful day here too. Summers can be hot and sticky here in Virginia.
I'm still adding back the running gradually so today is a walking day. 4-6 miles is the plan, probably split am and pm.

Food won't be a problem until this evening at a HS football game (pizza, nachos, hotdogs etc).
I'll stop at subway first. Their oven roasted chicken should fill me up so I can ignore the offerings.

We attend the games to see 2 grandsons in the marching band. None of my grandkids have enough bulk or muscle for football.

Have a good day everyone.

The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running.

and so it is the last day of summer - we are still enjoying temps in the 80s (finally, after a cold summer in sweden where we barely saw the 70s). the good part is that the mornings stay cool, and the late afternoons cool off, so we are able to get our walks and runs in anyway. yesterday we walked 3.75 in the morning before my doctor's appointment (yay, only two tries needed to find a vein for my blood test!), and another 1.6 in the late afternoon, right before dinner. pelle the BC loved the swimming down by the river. still smokey from the forest fires farther south.

nutrition was good, probably on the low side of my calories, though my weight doesn't seem to know it, a bit high this a.m. (still within range, though). and i did crunches, so ST is up to date - yay!

enjoy this last day of summer!
