My days are crazy with work!

I joined a Wellness Committee at work, and we had our first meeting yesterday (Thursday). We are planning a Maintain Campaign through the holidays! We don't yet know what sorts of incentives we'll be able to award participants (it needs to be run by the powers that run the agency), but the idea is to maintain within 4 pounds - or lose! - between Halloween and the New Year.

I did well with eating yesterday, except for 1 candy bar - and that was after the Wellness Committee meeting (!). Mostly, though, I had fruits and veggies and almonds (even the candy bar had almonds!).

Thank you all for liking the posts. I can't get caught up but wrote a blog so you can know what is going on with me. I thought for awhile that God was taking me home. Please forgive me all of you. I haven't even looked at the goodies yet but will get to them when I can and enjoy them.
Friday is busy I will have my hair done Lunch with my friends who are having a trying time and then the nurse comes. I have to do my s.s. lesson. Yes I can make better sense now.
I love you all.

Another CRAZY busy day....worked 7-4(30)....got over to my friends just a few minutes late for our run and did 3.55 miles (she's not done over 3.1 before and wants to do a 10K at the end of October. It's probably a little fast, but she is 14 years my junior, so if we go slow, I think I can help her get there. Came home, made dinner and did dishes and now getting ready for bed. Going to the local homeless shelter with the non profit I help out with to do one last run with the residents before we switch over to the winter program. Wish we were sticking with the running a little longer, but at least I have another running "project" to help me stay accountable. After the run tomorrow morning, I work 9-6 and over lunch have to go shopping to find a gift card for my sisters birthday....life just never slows down. Nutrition was mid range today, but it looks like for the week I am right about where I want to be for calories in and out. Love the HRM to make sure that I am burning enough but not too much. All the machines and even Sparks calculations are always a bit high compared to my HRM so it keeps me accountable.

While in Wisconsin at my parents, I am getting in my walks, and ST. Eating was great the first two days. But today I had two cookies that added an extra 300 calories to the top of my range. I am not going to obsess about that. I will be kind to myself. There's no scale here, so I'll have to wait till Monday to weigh. My curiosity is killing me!

Tomorrow I am thinking about walking in the woods on a path my dad has created. But there are bears in this area, though none sighted recently, they are around more in the spring. Would you take the risk all alone in the woods? I've never done it before.

PHEBESS - have a great trip to New Orleans!

I haven't checked in for a few days 'cause I've been so busy with work, etc, etc... Anyway, all is well -- keeping up with exercise and nutrition tracking, and keeping the calories and nutrients in pretty good balance too.

Eating is in range and on track to end the day well; we worked on errands and things for our travelling all day long, and I'm taking my antibiotics, so things are progressing but not getting in much cardio. We leave for New Orleans tomorrow, so the business end will be finished and we can get in a lot of walking (and dancing!) there!

Yea! I’ve been discharged from rehab!

Still coming back gradually. I’m very patient.
5.25 total this morning with the middle 3 miles run/walk intervals (3 min run, 3 min walk). I think I have a metronome in my head. Each half mile was 5:57 – 6:03

MJZHERE: I also had to eat additional food last night to meet my goals. Are you sure we’re not related?

ONEWEIGH: Good wishes for your FIL

CeliaMiner: Sorry about your back injury, but rehab can work wonders. Good luck.

NancyAnne - sorry about the pain - no fun at all!

After 2 days where it was just too difficult to track accurately due to restaurants, I am back on the wagon today to really work on getting calories to at least my bmr. I can't believe how I am struggling with this - very good at knowing how to lower calories but it is taking work to learn healthy additions. For an "otter" personality, I need to start finding the fun in this - and I think maybe it will be with trying new things. Would love suggestions. Not wanting grains and wondering if there is a dairy allergy - so good substitutions would be helpful. Love steel cut oatmeal. Looking to add good proteins. Also eat lots of fruits and veggies and feel full so maybe higher calorie healthy fats and proteins. Today I am going to plan so that I am not stuck at the end of the day trying to make myself eat something I don't even want.

Good morning everyone. It was in the 40s here, too, this morning, up to about 60 now. The days are getting noticeably shorter. Starting tomorrow the nights will be getting longer than the days. I miss summer already.

Susan, water issues are the worst! Where do you live that you have a humidifier running now? I have two DEhumidifiers running until it's time to turn on the heat.

Laura, I can't imagine too much caffeine! I sip on coffee all day long.

Sue, maintenance is for the rest of your life, so after awhile you will be comfortable being there. Have faith! Even a marriage takes a year or two to settle in.

Have a great stable day everyone!

It's another "eating event" day. Potluck at work, theme: "Comfort Food". I brought a bacon and blue cheese potato salad. I'm having just fruit and coffee for breakfast and have set up some rules of engagement: 1. Don't eat what you brought--you know it's good, but you can make it any time you want. 2. Don't try everything. Just aim for what REALLY looks good. 3. One and done--one plate only, no going back, no grazing. My weight is still up but at least some of it is from the sheer bulk of the fruits and veg I've been eating the last few days. By my usual pattern my weight should be coming down starting tomorrow. My father-in-law is in the hospital, which is a good thing, since he'll be hydrated and cared for. I haven't heard anything since yesterday afternoon. A coworker called in sick today so things should be busy. Make it a great day, all!

I love catching up with all of you...makes it seem like our own personal kaffeeklatsch.

Nancy, sorry to hear your injury is acting up. Susan, our humidifier did that once, too, and it was unnerving...but we didn't have the added issues of a simultaneous leak in the water heater. Hope everything is fixed today.

Well, I took my sore back to the doctor yesterday and told him I'd tried it all: yoga, chiropractic, massage, heating pad, warm baths, and nothing has helped the pain that is becoming more disruptive. He diagnosed sacroiliitis, inflammation of my sacroiliac joints and gave me some physical therapy stretches and exercises to try. I hope they work, because the burning, aching, sometimes sharp, catching pain affects everything: sitting, standing, walking, running, bending, and sleeping.

On a positive note, we loved the temperatures in the 40s this morning and will be making one of our favorite Vegetarian Times recipes this evening: Sherried Kabocha Squash Soup with Spiced Pepitas. The best part is the smoked paprika. Yummmm.

Nancy, sorry about your injury. I struggle with my shoulder, so I know how you feel.

Leb, I run short some days too, but it has a way of balancing out.

Suzy, I allow myself a range. When I inch towards the upper end, I pay more attention.

Peri, when I hit goal, I kept losing (without trying) for a few weeks until my body settled in.

I, too, am still figuring out my maintenance range. I've been eating in the calorie range set by my nutritionist, but this week I lost 2 pounds. Down to 129.5 this morning! Finally met my "goal weight" but I won't be staying here for long if I keep losing like this.

I've been so white-knuckled about losing that I haven't gone over my calories at all. I wonder if the maintenance range is really set to take into account occasional slip ups and splurge days? I know those are coming, but I am just too focused right now to let them happen. I've had some treats but kept it all within my calorie range so far.

Going to run 6 miles and then lift today after class. That means I'll be all set for pizza night tonight!

Have a great day, everyone!

~Peri

I'm waffling again over whether I'm really AT my maintenance weight or not. _LINDA, one of my SparkFriends, has a maintenance range between 118-125, so it's possible that I do, too. But I don't care for being at the high end of the range and am starting by clamping down on my wine consumption. Success last night!

Hope the massage fixes you up, Nancy!

BeckyAnne, maybe it was your BODY telling you to slow down on that run. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether it's the body or the brain talking.

Argh, Sue! The only good thing about your flood was that cardio was involved in dealing with it.

Good Morning!

Yesterday I didn't eat enough calories, I was about 250 short. I met the girls for our biweekly "coffee talk" and I had had so much caffeine throughout the day that I skipped my usual latte and got a glass of red wine instead. Thus, I was short on cals, calcium, and fat. But that was yesterday and I'm moving on!

My CSA box was beautiful, as usual. They gave me the most gorgeous butternut squash! I've never cooked with it before, and I was thinking about making a complicated soup, but I think now I'll end up just roasting it so I can REALLY taste what it's all about. Can't wait to get off work and get in the kitchen!

Have a great day meeting your goals :)

Yesterday I had a higher calorie, high-carb day and was down 1 1/2 pounds this morning. Go figure.

My old injury in my back and shoulder kept me awake last night, so no workout today. Instead, I'll be scheduling a therapeutic massage. Wish it was covered by insurance! My massage gal heals me better than medical doctors ever have been able to. Wish I could afford to see her every couple of weeks.

Good morning, team!

Susan, so sorry about the water issue... been there, done that! WTG getting right back on this morning.

Beckyanne1, some days are like that. At least you were moving. =)

Hi to Mennoly, Theis58 and all who follow!

I didn't get to workout yesterday. Hubs is back in town and took me out to dinner. After that, I decided to spend time with him when we got home. I had planned today for a rest day, so I'll just make the switch.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning!

A run yesterday ended up being a walk. Just couldn't get into it. The weather wasn't the greatest. Neither was my mood. Today the weather should be better. Not sure about the mood yet though. Will try and get out for that run.

good morning all,
we were back to stressful mode yesterday. just getting dressed and ready to get out on the morning walk when DH discovered water pouring onto the utility room floor from the humidifier. it happens occasionally, but we thought we had fixed a system to deal with it, and the floor was worse than usual, water reaching areas it had never reached before. turned out the hot water heater in the opposite corner of the room also decided to spring a leak. so the morning exercise turned into cleaning up the floor, weight lifting all the stuff that had accumulated out, and running up and down two flights of stairs for dry towels and to put wet towels in the washer. fixed for now, with a plumber coming to replace the parts that are also likely to cause problems.

feeling antsy at the end of the day, we went for a 4 mile walk along the river once the temps started cooling down. we needed it. went to a restaurant (again - 3rd time this week, we usually don't do this...), and overdid it with guacamole and chips. oh well. still wiggle room. weight up a bit this morning, and time to get back on track.

and i did a video for ST so that is getting back on track. hoping for a better day today!
