I have never thought of myself as a maintainer before, because I'm almost never content with where I am...but after reading 4A-HEALTHY-BMI's recent blog, I guess a maintainer is what I am. I was over 200 lbs in my 20s, but over a 2 or 3-year period, and with a LOT of help, I lost down to the 140s. I'm 43 now. In the last 20 years, I got married, finished school, had two kids, completed 4 years of training for my profession, moved halfway across the country...and have spent most of that time (except, of course, for the pregnancies) in the 140s. I consider being over 150 a call to action. I'm hovering now in my call-to-action range, but I have also ramped up my exercise and have far more muscle than I have at any other time in my adult I'm ok with it. Mostly. Well, ok, I'm a little freaked out, but mostly ok. I don't own a scale because I'd be a slave to it. I weigh occasionally, at the gym or at my fitness class. I hope that thinking in terms of "maintenance" will help me deal with food a little better than I currently do.

Okay day, but broke the no snooze streak....only snoozed once, but starting over again. My nutrition was a bit light until dinner, but I made up for it. Still on the low end of the scale though and today I got ALL my micro's too!!! WOOHOO! Going to bed early tonight and will have to catch up on everything tomorrow. Got to get back on the no snooze streak and we have a meeting at 6:30 AM tomorrow at work, so sleep tight all! "See" you tomorrow!

Good day. Picking up trash on our adopt-a-road section kept me walking, bending, reaching, and carrying for 4 hours. Also, I'm again within my calorie range. Think that makes 5 days in a row, which is a real streak for me lately!

A bit of a crazy day yesterday. I had a great breakfast. Lunch was a CLIF builder bar on the run (not ideal as I have one post-workout too). Dinner was, unexpectedly, at chipotle because we had to cancel the homecooked meal to get DD to Children's for a surprise sleep study. So food... not so great.... but I did exercise! Sleep was BAD. Horrible bed for me. I'm exhausted today.

Today was family date day. Good breakfast. Restaurant meal for our big meal. Olives, beer, and white bread for dinner tonight. Definitely a splurge day but planned (and I wasn't cancelling it just because yesterday got discombobulated).

Tomorrow I'll have to eat clean and drink a LOT of water because of all the salt today. Should probably go for an outside run as well since my 5K is a week from tomorrow!

There is no secret. Eat less. Move more. Love yourself.

Ok Brooklyn, parallel lives - I too am nursing an injury (a real sore tailbone from rollerskating). Love your sense of humor.

So down 2 lbs in the last 2 days - finally a weight loss - really think undereating was the problem and maybe not enough fat also. So now I am tracking to make sure I eat enough - boy, if that isn't a change! Not liking not being able to really exercise but doing all I can - except for working out the upper body which is what I should truly be doing (serious injury now causing both shoulders scapula). I am really trying to get myself there - I think I feel so inadequate in what exactly I should be doing, etc. that I am just not pushing thru (even though I was in physical therapy for at least half a year - ought to at least find that exercise sheet and start there). Nice to see so many posting.

Brooklyn - you seem like you have a sense of humor... So I will let you know from another clumsy person - I laughed at your entry but I am truly sorry you got seriously hurt!!

My first full day as a team member after years of quietly lurking on SP. I just didn't feel I really fit in anywhere. I love tracking my food and all the data and charts.

4 miles (1 running and 3 walking) this morning and will probably "stroll" another 2 later with my DH. It's a beautiful day to be outside.

Here's my confession: I'm rehabbing an injury - a FOOD related injury. Yes, on the last day of our vacation I tripped on a step while checking out the buffet! Pulled a tendon on the inside of my knee. But, I'm coming back now. See, running didn't hurt my knees, eating did. Plus some clumsiness, of course.

Some time ago, I mentioned a 5% challenge that also accept maintainers. It is time to sign up for the Fall Challenge. This will be my 3rd challenge with the group. Having a great Saturday. I'm down 5 lbs in the last two weeks. Loving this cool weather. After walking with the dogs, I did Zumba on my Wii for the first time this morning. Lots of fun even if they did say my technique was non-existent, LOL.

So glad to see this thread and our team so active! Welcome, all new members. I'm really glad to see you here.

I ran 11 miles this morn (run -walk-run) with Galloway group. Feel good now. Shouldn't be hard to have a calorie deficit today, but for the week it is a challenge for me.

I would like so much for the healthy eating to come easier. I'm delighted that I've maintained an 80 pound lose for more than 3.5 years, but I suspect that it could be done with less struggle than I'm having. Beck talks about strengthening the resistence muscle, and I think I need to get tough with myself and do that. I'm doing a fair job of tracking, but can do better. Also, not doing much meal pre-planning and I do better when I do it. So I need to set some goals -- and achieve them. I can do it!!

My Keys to Success = Tracking! Super Foods! Step Up Cardio! And most important: Quit Quitting!!

As expected my weight is up from the indulgence of the past two days. My ring gauge tells me that sodium in the Reuben was partly to blame--if my wedding ring spins, I'm OK, if it doesn't, I'm sodium-puffy. Meeting some friends this afternoon at the horse races. We're enjoying the last of the summer sunshine. emoticon

Weight was down a tad today from yesterday, but up just a touch from where I want it to be. So today will be more diligence with eating clean and piling on the water.

No exercise- I take the weekends off. My body needs that to heal, since I lift so heavy during the week.

Hi all! I just joined this team and expect to learn a great deal more about maintenance here. It's a lifelong experiment, as far as I can see, but at least I've been in a healthy range for the past 7 years. At my lowest weight, I was too low for my height and age but seduced by the idea of having a BMI in the below-normal range. Now I maintain between 120-125 by walking 5 miles or more a day, swimming a little, doing upper-body work with 10lb weights every other day, and a short daily pilates routine. Where I go astray is with weekend and nighttime wine, bloody maries, etc. Florida is sometimes one big happy hour!

Hi all!

New to the team. Holding my own since April 2011. I travel a lot and I am happy to report that despite a gain of a few pounds every trip I have always been able to get back to goal in a few weeks. I leave for 25 days in Ukraine, Russia, Estonia and Finland tomorrow and I am 2 pounds BELOW goal, so I have a bit of wiggle room! I've never been this far below, so it's a new sensation! I plan on doing Nicole's 25 minute resistance band workout every day along with my usual 25 minutes of stretching. Hopefully I can work it all in despite the touring schedule. I'll miss my Curves workout but hopefully the resistance bands will be a good replacement.

hi everyone!
slept all night (no work!), always a luxury to wake up in daylight.

edie: welcome!
carol: enjoy the seminar!
christie: a walk with dog(s) on a fall day sounds great!

yesterday was packed - we woke up early enough to fit in a run before leaving first for the small town of laconner to take care of old bank business, and then to seattle, where we will take care of new house business! i brought a chickpea salad and sliced peaches to eat in the car while driving over the mountains, and we had dinner with DD and her BF. spent the night with a friend and colleague, and actually slept all night - no work, yay!

today we have some errands to run, and then will drive home, back over the mountains. we'll probably take a walk this morning. the challenge - finding the right food while traveling today, but we'll manage!

Hi team,

Today is day 1 of a 2 day seminar - I will be in class from 9-6 on "change your brain, change your body" and book and classes from Dr. Amen (he has been on PBS many times). After the 2 day, we have class online or I can go back to the center every wednesday evening for 1.5 hrs until Nov.

Bringing water and piece of fruit, they are supplying lunch.

Good morning, team!

I had a pretty good day. I ended up driving into Charlotte to pick up my stepdaughter after an hour drive home. So it was after 7:30pm when I finally got home. We went out for Mexican, so no workout. it was probably for the best, since I really needed a rest day. I did okay eating. No damage on the scale yet this morning.

I plan to drink tons of water today. I have my meals and a long workout planned. There will be lots of football watched today. I need to rein in the snacking there.

It is a gorgeous fall day, so I'm going to try to get the SD to go for a walk with me and one or both of the dogs. They are huge, so I can't manage both.
