It isn't actually all my personal info, but if that's an overwhelming number of links, then you can look at just these.

They are all online places where you just put in your weight every day and see what the trend line (the moving average number) does. No need to know anything about how spreadsheets work, or the formulas in them, etc.

(Just some options in case the spreadsheet is too confusing - I don't actually know what it's doing.)

@4AHealthyBMI ... I clicked on the link & those on Hackers Diet Team, and they all have lots of personal info already filled in. They have far more info than I have a clue what to do with or make sense of ... But thanks for sharing. Guess you have to have read the book for any of it to make any sense...

@ BESTSUSIEYET
I think you probably want to use the number in column F (Moving Average) for today.
I'm not really sure what they're doing there, or why you'd have numbers showing up for days ahead of now, unless they are projecting what your average would be if your weight for the days in the future were zero (because you haven't filled them in yet).

@All: for more tools, try the links at the hacker's diet team. Which is all about using a moving average.

The Moving average is more than just the "mean" (which is what you get if you add the last few entries & divide the sum by the number of entries.). MathDude had an explanation ... But I sure couldn't explain it! Here is the link to the moving average tool I downloaded and have been tracking on for a few weeks. (It's an Excel spreadsheet and opens with the QuickOffice app on my iPad.)

I would use the one that shows up after you weigh for the day. I think what's important is to use the same most recent number. BTW, I use a phone app called Libra.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Okay I am super confused. What do you mean moving average tool? Do you take the mean of what you weigh?

Hi all. I can't seem to find the thread that had the link to the moving average calculator for weight loss & for maintenance, so I'll ask my question here. I started tracking on that spreadsheet a little over 2 weeks ago and am going to adjust my ticker to reflect this from now on. (the gym I used for 3+ years had a good scale and I weighed weekly there & counted it as my "official" weight. It was generally a couple pounds heavier than my bathroom digital scale reads in the morning. Now that the gym closed, I'm going to have to rely on the bathroom scale.) so, here is my question ... On the chart, the moving average doesn't show until day 15, and then has numbers that column for each day for the coming 2 weeks. Which number do I use? The one for today ( which showed up 14 days ago) or the most recent number in that column (which showed up after I posted today's weight)? The new one is lower than the old, since I have been trending downward ever so slowly. I like this idea because it takes out the daily fluctuations ... But want to be accurate in what I post, too!
