Loved the part about wanting to be the grandma with muscles! My trainer is my idol. Both of us are in our mid-50s, but she is a former competitive body builder and still has great abs (with no tummy tuck) after two kids. Unfortunately, unless I have the tummy tuck, the abs I know are under all that loose skin will never be worth showcasing, but I like having a strong core and defined arms.

Thanks for sharing these, Nancy. I think it's great to have the perspective of a personal trainer here.

From the Vlog: "I'm eating cleaner now than when I was losing weight."
Me, too. I wasn't ever an "eat clean" type of person, and I'm still not totally that way; but I'm eating a lot cleaner than I was a year ago. I'm buying (and eating) stuff now that I would have sworn I'd never buy; and I'm not done changing.

Thanks NancyAnne for the blog and vblog links. I've been maintaining for about a year now, and know what you mean about keeping with tracking everything and execise. I keep gaining the same 5 to 6 pounds, then lose it again and thought that it was more water weight or that TOM thing, which it could very well be, but if I don't eat clean, I can feel it the next day and work to exercise it off before I gain. It is an on going process. I'm thankful that you have spoken out about maintenance so that more people can see and read what it's like.

Thank you all so much for the information. If we had half as much information and support maintaining our weight loss and getting to the goal, no one would ever gain the weight back! SO glad I found you all!

There was a link to them in the "welcome" email, so you can always go back there to find them.
Or if you're on the AG&M+TM page reading this message board, look at the box on the right with all the little scrolling topics.
Below that box there is a line that says "See All Team: Blogs | Links Photos | Announcements"
Click on the word "Links."

Never, ever, EVER give up!
From BMI 52+ (335+ lbs) to BMI under 30. Now aiming for less than 19% body fat.
...and anyone reading this who browses the team links, if you could "like" the links you find the most useful, helpful, or interesting, that would be great because it will help sort them by how popular they are. The most popular ones end up at the front.
...and yeah, welcome to the club. RUSSLANE and I have frequently discussed the topic of feeling "orphaned" by the weight-loss industry.
It's like they pull the bus up at your stop when you reach goal and then kick you out the door, saying "Congratulations! You're here! You've got all the tools! Goodbye! Good luck!" And then drive off, leaving you standing there, wondering what, exactly, you're supposed to do now, and where you're supposed to go.

I'm glad you found it worthwhile!
I have the same doubts sometimes. I have to push them out of my head.
I really have been thinking since joining this team how little attention, literature, and instruction goes into maintaining. Always felt like I was flailing around, trying to make it all work, but never really connected the dots before.
Thanks NancyAnne. I hadn't seen the blog entry. It's from before I became active again at Spark. It struck a chord in me. I slip in maintenance when I stop thinking I am worth it. I may just blog about that tomorrow.... with a link back to your inspiring blog.
I also just wanted to say how impressed I am that there are people here who are trying to bring maintenance into the spotlight. It's not only part of the journey, it's the BIGGEST part, since more time is spent trying to maintain your results than was spent getting there.
