I use the tracker, but I am not perfect.... I know what my goal range is and I find after 6 years I am fairly good at knowing where I am. I like using the tracker, because I believe it keeps me honest.

I don't use the spark nutrition tracker. It takes too long to type in all 20 ingredients for each dinner, and the tracker doesn't even have a lot of them. I did try for awhile but gave up, and just copy the days forward for the Sparkpoints. As an exchange counter, all I have to do is weigh or measure each ingredient and it slots in with my plan, very easy. I've been doing it for so long, exchanges are a second language, and just require a quick checklist. The problem comes with eating out. I need to know exactly how many teaspoons of oil are in the serving, the exact weight of the dry ingredients before the dish was made. It's easy at home (I'm the cook) but impossible in a restaurant, which is why I avoid them like the proverbial plague. It's kept me at goal for over 4 decades now. If my weight is up a little on any given day, I know exactly why, and therefore what to do next.

I don't track, I don't feel I need it. When I first started low-carb I roughly tracked carbs and now I just eat low-carb foods as much as I feel hungry, usually between 2000-2500 calories from my guess.

I'm trying out the spark coach thing, and it is underscoring something I already knew... I'm generally pretty darned good about being physically active, but when I'm stressed, I often take it out on myself in the way of food. Just helping me be mindful, and reminding me where I need to focus my efforts.

yesterday's restaurant meal was really salty and today's morning weight showed it - 107, when i had been 104 on monday. but, i took two 3-mile walks today, one with DH, and a second when DD said let's go (we went), plus i did my ST routine (a streak of 3 weeks, every other day now - i think i have a habit). and hopefully all that zeroed out today's restaurant meal, where i had a few more french fries AND garlic bread. and then we stopped for coffee.... and a pastry. ah well. saturday is official weigh-in day, and somehow i don't think it will be that great - unless tomorrow's 10 mile run does its magic.

i still track on SP - i may be a bit looser but it's close enough to represent what i eat. the fitness tracker is spot on. keeps me accountable, and keeps me going.

Yesterdays munchies led to a pound on the scale :(

Today I seem to have hit a bit of a slump. my son woke me up at 4am he had wet his bed. I decided not to go to my weightlifting class since I never did manage to get back to sleep but now I feel crumby like I'm letting myself down...maybe its all just PMS... maybe I need more sleep! lol.

I'm going to try to hit the gym after my sons appointment this afternoon maybe that will lift my spirits.

Just wondering how many of you still track? do you use SP or something else? I'm trying to find a way to simplify it but I cant make up my mind.

I did okay with the party yesterday, and am definitely glad I ate beforehand.

Today will be crazy busy. My challenge will be keeping calm and not spazzing just because my family keeps telling me to spaz like them. LOL Handling events that way never seemed to work for them, after all, so why should I follow suit?

Doing better on eating now that I'm back into my routine, but exercise has still gotten pushed aside as work piles up. I just feel chained to my desk sometimes, like this morning, when for the second time this week, the boss handed me a short-suspense projects just as I was getting ready to take my lunch break and go for a walk. Grrrr. I WILL leave on time today, and maybe a few minutes early, since I didn't get much of a lunch break (ate at my desk while wordsmithing the final project write-up).

I have managed to stay under 130 this week and I think my weight will continue to come down a little more very slowly.
With low-carb it's fairly easy to eat at restaurants. I order salads with meat, eggs, cheese, bacon, and olive oil vinaigrette and order my burgers with cheese and lettuce/side salad instead of a bun. When I feel like tomato sauce I have them put it on or mushrooms instead of on pasta. Life is good. emoticon

Weekends used to be my downfall, but the longer I'm into this maintenance thing the better it gets. It took several years, but slowly but surely food takes a less prominent place in my life.

I hike on one of my weekend days, so there is lots of calorie expenditure, plus the exercise curbs my appetite. Have a 12-miler planned for tomorrow, but the proposed high temps have me worried a bit. I'll be taking extra water and electrolytes.

Just started back on low carb this week (Monday) to try to get my carb cravings under control. Continuing yesterday's peri-menopause discusion: I got to 241 days and then the dam broke. Needless to say I was angry, confused and hormonal!! Hoping low carb will address the cravings before I gain all of my weight back. I went from 137 to 149 in just a few weeks. Have lost 4.5 lbs since Monday's weigh-in( water weight is crazy, isn't it) and feel so much better. Trying to stay close to 75gm net carbs and get in at least 90 gm protein each day. So far so good. Needless to say exercise has been much better. Long walks, weights and stretching are all helping me feel better.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

I do pretty good eating out, too. Don't mind eating out a couple times a month. Will have a trip to visit my mom, leaving on Monday. She's living in assisted living and we won't be cooking, so I know there will be some challenges.

My biggest disappointment right now is I cut my feet (dropped a bowl of chili between 2 feet and cut the tops of both of them) and I'm suppose to run 6.5miles tomorrow with my Galloway group tomorrow as part of my half marathon training. I just tried to put on a shoe and it hurt awful. Don't know what I can do. I've put 2 months into this training already. So hope I can get back on track. I may try water running or maybe run on treadmill in socks. Not sure.

@Nell... yeah, I am way more comfy in my own kitchen, but like Carol Jean, I am pretty good at figuring out the menu, and I try to compensate the rest of the day.

I forgot to mention in my first post how thrilled I am with everyone's participation! I am making new SparkFriends and getting great advice from you guys for succeeding at this maintenance journey. Thank you all so much!

I have learned to enjoy eating out by looking at the menu and then ordering what I want. For instance, DH loves to go out for breakfast.... bacon, eggs, etc. I routinely order 2 poached eggs, one piece whole wheat toast and fruit. I have never had any problem having the order filled and have found some great egg poachers in this area.
However, Sunday is our wedding anniversary (45th) and I know we both want a nice dinner out. I can almost always find salmon on the menu, pair it with a salad, steamed veggies and eat 1/3 or less of the dessert we will split.
BTW, yesterday I had a great yoga lesson/practice with a dear friend. And... in 10 days I get to do a semi-private lesson with her and our favorite teacher.

I don't envy your eating out. So much easier in the comfort of my own safe kitchen.

Good morning, losers and maintainers. It's finally Friday!!!

I had a pretty good day yesterday. Eating was good and I managed to fit in a short strength-training DVD. I hit my target on water and freggies.

Weekends are harder for me. I tend to slack off a bit on my healthy eating, and I usually have a few drinks. The hubs is off tomorrow, and he likes to go out for breakfast, lunch, etc., which can be a little challenging. I do have my workouts planned (cardio tonight and circuit training tomorrow) and I am committing myself to be as healthy as I can this weekend.

What challenges (if any) do you face on the weekends?

Have a fabulous Friday!
