I've been at goal or below since December 1, 2006. Actually, I'm usually around 3 pounds below my goal weight and feel nervous if I get near my goal.

I will have to check that out. It sounds like a great idea for a total life change. And 37? It has been my best year. I turn 38 in September. The changes in my life make me excited to see waht I can do in my late 30's and bring on 40. It doesn't scare me.

I have maintained my 100lb loss for 9 months now....WAY more difficult than the losing phase! I want to lose about 6 more, putting me solidly at a size 6. Right now I am, annoyingly, between an 8 and a 6 in most clothes! emoticon

Hey Laura! I lost my weight through a group called Trevose behavior Modifiaction- it is a GREAT idea for people who have tried every "diet" and yo-yoed around with their weight. I learned behavior and lifestyle changes that have nothing to do with dieting. the website is www.tbmp.org - It really changed my life- every aspect! My whole family(husband, two kids 7 and 4) got healthy and better focused on the important things!!! I cannot say enough! When i was at goal four months, I started a group closer to my home, since I drove almost an HOUR each week to attend my own mtg!!! I am turning 37 and am so happy to be where I am!! emoticon

I've been between 140 and 142 since the beginning of December. It's very inspiring to hear about all of you who have been at goal for a year or more.

Hi...been at goal for 9 months...with a 100 lb total loss. To stay motivated, I started my own group under the same program and now hold weekly behavior miodification classes to help 12 newbies reach their weight loss/lifestyle goals. It is a GREAT way to keep me focused! I am also a rookie runner, started running 6 months ago and do about 3 miles/day.

I have been within 2 pounds of goal consistently since 27 Dec 03...3+ years. There has been ice on my walking paths for almost 8 weeks now so I have traded my walking shoes for a snow shovel. Come on Spring!

I am working on the balance for eating and working out. I have entered a 1/2 marathon on Memorial weekend so I have chosen a hard time to go into maintenance. I am running longer every weekend so I never get a similar week to guage my calories. I have run lighter in the last 2 weeks with the weather so this should help me track my calorie needs better. I also know I will need to put on a few pounds to help me during my race. This will be hard to swallow, but I know I can get it back off.

It is just such a wierd sensation to know I can workout a little bit less and eat a little bit more and be ok. It think the mental end is harder to grasp for maintaining than physically doing it.

That is what I'm hoping for in the winter! Right now I can't exercise as much as I'd like. It would be nice not to worry about what I eat as long as it is healthy!

I have been at my weight loss goal since September of 06.

I still track occasionally to see how I am doing, but I am more focused on my exercising than my eating at this point. I have discovered if you do the right combination and duration of exercise per week you can pretty much eat what you want...as long as it is healthy stuff of course.

I like your idea JH. taper slowly and see how it goes. Today was not a taper day. I knew today was going to be bad, but I just put it all in and WOW! I had an unexpected lunch with my husband and I just can not force myself to be good when it comes to mexican food. Any other food I can. And I had girls night out for dinner. I guess I am getting better about maintenance because I am not horribly freaked out and I am not beating myself up over 2958 calories. Every bite was very good. Some days just have to happen and I have good habits now that will be back in place tomorrow. I feel pretty good about what I have learned and how to progress.

I still track at 5 years out. The accuracy varies with my goal at the time. If I am OK with my weight I remember what I eat and record it at the end of the day. If I am trying to lose i carry a small notebook and record every bite I eat, including condiments like catsup and mustard. It only takes a few minutes a day and makes me more conscious of what I put in my mouth each day.

I've been in my goal range for about six weeks. I'm still very much tracking everything because I'm still in that stage of trying to find the calorie range that lets me maintain without gaining or losing. I'd really like to move away from all the tracking... maybe cut down slowly, going to 6 days a week for a month or so, then 5, etc. but I'm worried about slipping back into old habits if I don't force myself to be accountable. I mean, yes, I lost 60 pounds without depriving myself or going on a restrictive diet, but I still REALLY like french fries.

My goal is to get back to 168 (within my healthy weight range) after a stressful relocation.

Only officially for 2 weeks, but have been in the range of 110-115 for 6 weeks. So far, so good. I will still track and weigh in just to stay on top of it. A day may come when I cut the ties, but I am not worried about it.

I still track. It is too easy to up my calories by 150-300 calories a day and gradually work my way up to higher weight.

I lost my weight with South Beach Diet and little to no exercise. Tracking was not required so I didn't do it. So I maintained from January until August before coming to Sparkpeople. This is where I learned about tracking. I tried it and I lost a couple of pounds and then I started gaining and about reached 130. Enough was enough so I stopped tracking and went back to my SBD ways. Weight came back off. The only problem is SBD and exercise don't mix well - at least not for me. So I'm trying the tracker again to develop new menus for myself so I have energy to exercise without going insane with calories. If my weight shoots up again, I'll probably abandon tracking for good.

I'm pretty recent - reached my goal in December. So far so good, I haven't strayed out of my healthy range yet (120-125). I'm still mostly entering all my foods, keeping track of my exercise. To the other more longer-term maintainers, did you stop tracking after a while? Or do you still keep it up?

Wow! Congratulations to you all. I was curious if there were any long term mainainers and there are.

I can't tell you exactly when I hit my goal as I didn't have one at first. I started losing weight in December 2001. I was happy when I got to 170 lbs and could wear a size 14. That was in April 2002 or thereabouts. However, I contimued to lose after that till I got to my current size 10. Sometimes size 8 if the clothes are better quality. That is apparently where my body wants to be since I have leveled out there.

I used a program called FitDay and I still use it. SP has most of the same features, but I am very comfortable with FitDay and it is not dependent on whether I have internet access. FitDay is my weight loss partner and my method of accountability. There is a free web version, but I have the stand alone version. However, I find that SP helps keep me motivated. There is a lot of enthusiasm here. I wish I had it back in 2001/2002. While my focus is different now that I have reached my goals, I still have a lot in common with those trying to lose.

Anyway - great to see so many successful folks here. May our success continue.

Michele

Since Oct 06 - I met my initial goal but then lowered it. My ticker looks like I am still losing weight, but I am not trying very hard. I am getting into building muscle and precision body sculpting, so the weighloss will take care of itself. I am living a very healthy lifestyle right now and for me, that counts more than the weight. As long as I can wear my new size 4 pants, I am happy!
