Wow, I never envisioned Coach purses and Harleys in the same paragraph. I hope you do get them both!

I've always been a goal oriented person. For me, my long term goal is to maintain healthy habits intuitively. I don't want to have to "think" conciously about staying healthy. I want it to be a natural aspect of my life. The reward for this goal is the benefits of the goal itself...feeling good and no worrying about weight.

Flylady helped me get more self-disciplined about housekeeping and laundry, especially. And, to be willing to do 15 minutes of something rather than continue to put it off - I'm bad to procrastinate when left to my own devices. My house is much cleaner and ready for drop-by visitors since a friend told me about Flylady. And I don't spend every Saturday cleaning.

Decluttering is one of my goals for the first part of this year, in anticipation of moving in May or June. We cleared 40 square feet of the basement in a Habitat for Humanity thrift store donation last weekend. This morning, I pared down years of accumulated craft materials and have four big bags to donate to an inner city craft project. I wish I'd weighed it all for Flylady's site!

I follow Flylady.net for housekeeping/decluttering advice. Ever since I found out about it, it has made keeping up with things SO much easier. She has little challenges like weighing all your give away stuff and then people post how many pounds they gave away. LOL My personal favorites are the missions they give you. By doing a little mission a day, it is amazing how clean the house remains.

I've backslidden... I reached my goal and was now maintaining, but now I need to lose 10 pounds and firm up.

JHTATROE: my friend de-cluttered her house for Lent last year. She's Catholic and usually gives something more traditional up, but figured that a thorough house cleaning and getting rid of stuff she doesn't need would work, too! I thought that was kinda nifty.

And Colleen, thanks. It's kind of a daunting surgery to face! Ugh.

What a great idea to give yourself a big reward for each year of maintenance! I think that's absolutely brilliant. I still reward myself right now by putting small amounts of money in my wardrobe fund for staying in my calorie range and burning calories.

Besides maintaining my weight, I have longterm goals that I set at the beginning of each year. This year, I'm working on decluttering and maintaining my house better and on taking steps to establish a career I can follow once my son is in school full-time.

My goal is to get back to 168 (within my healthy weight range) after a stressful relocation.

Wow, Sarah, that does sound painful! I hope you are able to put it off. Thanks for letting me know what it is.

Colleen,

In short, an osteotomy is surgery to straighten a bone. In my case, I'm severely bow legged which is causing arthritis in my right knee. An osteotomy would change how - or where - the impact is on my knee. Right now, all the weight bearing is on the inside of my knee. This would fix that and slow down the number of knee replacements I will need.

(Yeah, it sounds PAINFUL - the fix, that is!)

I haven't let myself really think long term yet. Of course I want to maintain and become even healthier, but just month to month for me is good right now. I set goals in September when I joined and they are on my page. I am ahead of the 1/2 marathon which is now scheduled in May before the 10 mile race. I think I would like to see what I can do with my running. It is the link for me. I think long term I would like to see my husband join in more with me on the eating and weights.

Don't set your limits until you have tested them...

I don't have any concrete goals, but I would, of course, like to maintain, and I want to build my strength.

SARBAH77 - What is an osteotomy?

I never really had any weighloss or maintenance goals till I found SP, so this is all new for me. But it really has given me focus to have it written down and to know it's something I really want.

I don't have any good concrete long term goals, other than "maintain!" which I think will be at least as hard as "lose the weight!" In a sense, one of them is to stay as healthy as possible to put off the osteotomy my doctor says I will need!

I guess I'm like Shani and Angela - I have the goal of maintaining weight within my maintenance range, and continuing to improve/maintain my strength and fitness.

Achieving those are rewarding enough that I don't have any additional rewards planned.

Every year in November I set long term goals for myself. Some are fitness related, like getting to 18% bodyfat and some are work related.

I do not set rewards with them, like Shani said, reaching the goal IS the reward for me.

I haven't in the sense of weight loss. I have set some family goals though (family night once a week and memorizing one bible verse a week as a family). But I haven't tied them to any reward since honestly the reward will be the results of doing them. LOL... So far we are having fun at it.

Hi All! I am wondering if anyone has set any lon term goals and if anyone has met any of them. I have two. If I maintain for ONE YEAR (the November) I am going to buy myself a REAL Coach purse. If I maintain for TWO years, I am going to buy myself a Harley.

How about you all?
