Nice blog, sums up the essentials well. I also could not participate because I don't have any before pictures. It's been too long. emoticon

You can talk to God all you want and that's great, but the changes happen when you start listening to him.

I have certainly had my ups and downs, I just manage to keep them to one or two pounds, the bounce range. It's why I weigh every day. I had a tough time during menopause when my body no longer seemed my own, but got to the other side and quickly lost those 10 pounds and more. For me it's the daily awareness, and the absolute knowledge that I can not eat something and survive just fine. I know absolutely that the urge to eat something I shouldn't, no matter how powerful, will pass if I don't eat it. And I have found that the gratitude for not giving in always exceeds the craving. I think for me the most important concept has been One Day At A Time. I haven't given up Reeses forever, just for Today. After awhile all those Todays add up to a successful maintenance.

NellJOnes..In the 40 years you have maintained, have you ever had slips? Have you always been stable..and have totally turned your life around? I am inspired as I have been a yo-yo person all of my life. This time I am determined to make it. What has helped you the most? Thanks

I registered last year, and they sent me a long questionnaire. That was when I found out I had to have before and after photos which I don't have. Without all that I couldn't actually get on the register, even though I've been at goal for over 40 years. At least I know for a fact that it's possible to keep weight off.

I had not heard of NWCR and probably will sign up in about a month, at about my one year anniversary. :)

I thought about registering, but I don't have any fat pictures left. I lost my weight in 1970 and I fear that I was pretty good about throwing out my fat teen pics. There's only a head shot in my high school yearbooks to tell the story. They want the before and after shots.

There's a new blog post by Coach Nancy about maintenance.

Yay for visibility to this overlooked topic!

Besides the column being interesting and mentioning the NWCR, the comments are also good.

Some of the folks on there sound like they're new maintainers and trying to find their way. If you happen to see one on there that looks like he or she might benefit from our team, feel free to invite them over here!
