Congratulations on four years of maintenance. What a great achievement.
You're right! Some days, weeks, months, or years, are better than others.
Out of my 7+ years at maintenance, my worst year and the most difficult one was the forth year.

One thing for sure! When we reach maintenance, any issues, problems, etc, we've had... don't disappear like magic. The world does not become rosy and 100% sweet and without any struggles and obstacles when we reach maintenance.
The only difference is that we have better tools to handle life's realities and we can do it while staying at maintenance.

I love reading this forum. It is such a great way to remember that we are all working all the time , but enjoying it because we know it keeps us healthy.

This is inspiring! It is not easy and is def ongoing and always will be. It is work and takes determination and thoughtful choice making. I will be 2 years in healthy range in Jan. Can't wait...

I think the first year or so that we maintain, we feel as if we are in "remission" from our unhealthy habits. We are worried that we might relapse at any time. I think by 4 years, we can declare a "cure."

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Thank you everyone - it is great to have the support! I would love to say it gets easier every day but it is more a matter of it being easier some days and still really hard on others. But SparkPeople has been wonderful and I do credit a lot of my continued success with the support I get from others on the site!
