Eep, Linda! Might a hospital supply store have devices to attach to your tub to make the in/out easier?

I have been maintaining a year and a half. The only time I gained weight back was when I was recovering from elbow replacement surgery at my Mom's where the food was higher carb (her husband doesn't eat fruits and veggies) then I was used to. I have another long surgical recovery coming up in August, but would like to stay home for this one as I can fix my own meals this time. Only drawback is I have an unsafe bathtub to crawl over at home, and a walk in shower at Mom's. I am having foot surgery where I have to deal with pins sticking out of my toes for two months :((

I'm reporting in after a long absence. It was due to the severe storms in our area. No phone or no internet or both no phone & no internet for ages. I'm in my goal range of 18 - 25 on the BMI scale. But I missed visiting the Spark teams & getting motivation!!!!

YES! I weighed in today and even though I gained 8/10th of a pound, I'm still 3 pounds under my goal weight. It shows that you can eat a little of the "not so good stuff" as long as it is in moderation and you keep track of it.

MISSLINDSEY29 Great you reached your goal weight. I would say for the first week or two keep eating like you were. Then if you lose weight try eating 100 calories less and keep on till you find your calorie range.

Today, I am 168.4 lbs with a 22.81 BMI. After two weeks, I continue to maintain in my 165-170 range. My high for the past week was 168.9 and started at 165. I'm still learning how to maintain but feel more comfortable now.
Since I bought a lot of new clothes this past weekend, I have extra incentive to maintain. I will also step up my cardio and strength training this week as my energy level has increased.

Nell, Thank you. You know you are a very interesting writer. I went to your Page to see if you had any blogs. You didn't but you should. I loved what you wrote about the Yoplait. There are aisles I don't walk down either or if I do it is because something healthy is hiding in all that gross stuff. Like I found dark chocolate at the very end of the candy aisle. I didn't want candy but I did want dark Chocolate. I also found the Wasa Crisp Bread among the cracker and other stuff I didn't like. I wish they had an all healthy aise. Yes the is lurking among the but we can say REESES PEANUT BUTTER CUPS. I got to my highest weight when I would go for Avalanches almost every night and even the small ones were huge. Sometimes I did eat just half of one and the other half the next night. And what did I have them with? REESES PEANUT BUTTER CUPS. I still have sweets but have learned to stay under goal. Irene

The Pentagon is the huge 5 sided office building in Arlington, Virginia that houses the Department of Defense. I think it's the largest office building in the world; it has it's own shopping center that requires a security clearance to get in. There are enough DOD employees there every day to make it worthwhile. It was hit on 9-11 by one of the terrorist planes. My youngest bought a townhouse condo near there last year, and prices never went down in that part of Arlington. In his condo complex of 600 units, there have been no foreclosures or short sales. There is always someone to buy or rent.
I'm not terrified of being "struck fat", but of giving in to temptation, which leads to more giving in, which leads to.......well we all know how it works.
We have been talking on another thread about the Yoplait ad that was pulled this week. There is a woman who opens the fridge at work and is confronted with a raspberry cheesecake. You can see on her face the internal dialogue that we all know so well: maybe I can have a small piece, or a large piece with 4 celery sticks. Or a medium piece with 8 celery sticks. Or maybe I can run in place while I have a large piece. Then another woman reaches in past her and grabs a raspberry cheesecake Yoplait. The first woman comments that the second woman has lost weight. She says yes and thanks for noticing. Then the first woman reaches for the Raspberry Cheesecake Yoplait. It seems that come "food abusers" called Yoplait and accused them of using their disease to make money because the dialogue was so accurate, and Yoplait apologized and pulled the ad. Well, I go through that internal dialogue a dozen times a day, it's just that it doesn't show on my face (I'm not making an ad), and no one can see it. I just walk right on by. Just because no one can see the devil on one of my shoulders and the angel on the other doesn't mean they aren't there. I always get people telling me that because I am thin now that I don't know what it's like to have to lose weight. But one of the things I learned well back when I was fat was to never let anyone see my anguish EVER. I kept my hurt invisible when I was insulted for my size, and I kept my struggle invisible when I tried to lose (WW was the only place I could open up), and now I keep my continuing effort to maintain invisible. I wish everyone would remember that when they envy a thin person. It isn't as effortless as they imagine.
There are still certain aisles in the grocery store that I won't walk down. Why tempt myself if I don't have to? I can window shop for clothes and shoes without ever even come close to giving in to temptation. But fruit tarts? Oh my. It's easier to just avoid it because unless I make it myself (the WW way) I can't have it. Fortunately, WW has enough recipes that there is little I have to actually avoid forever.
But I still have those moments when I walk past the bin of teeny tiny Reeses!

Nell, I just turned 61, You can check to see what I did. I'm hoping you were being a bit dramatic when you said you were terrified of getting fat again. I had a slight fear last week but I know I can maintain. Now if you had said you were getting stressed out living in Northern Virginia, I would fully understand! I lived there for almost 50 years! I had a home in Fairfax County. ( My dad was in the State Dept and I was in the Pentagon for 24 years!)
Now I'm living in Paradise on the Florida Gulf Coast by the beach!
Do not live in fear! Just pay attention to maintaining and have fun with the grandkids!.

Irene, it IS amazing to hear people say that older people can't lose weight. My back handspring days may be behind me, but I can sure manage my weight. Sometimes I think that's the ONLY thing over which I have control!

SILVERVANILLA84 You look great. I will never look like that again but I did have my day.
to the team.
You can read my story on my Spark Page if you like. Some people past 40 even say they can't lose. Well, I lost and got to goal in my 70's so there. Sometimes we just make excuses.
I also went to TOPS and had weigh in and personal group support which helped me a lot.

Hello Everyone!!!
I'm new to this SparkTeam because I'm fairly new to maintaining. About a month ago, I hit my goal weight and I am striving to maintain a morning weight between 122 and 127 and a night weight of under 130lbs. Four years ago I weighed 160lbs. I lost 15lbs on my own and then joined SparkPeople about two years ago. SparkPeople helped me lose another 20lbs for a total of 35lbs - Woohoo!
Right now I'm 126lbs in the morning (within my range). Since I'm off work (I'm a teacher), I will be spending more time exercising and cooking healthy meals. I hope and plan to drop a little more weight even though I am in a good range. I'm hoping to have a lower weight range if my body allows it.
The hardest thing for me is tracking/journaling when I eat outside of my home - especially things that are hard to account for. I can be a perfectionist at times and I don't like when I track and it tells me I'm outside of my range of calories and nutrients. So rather than tracking or journaling, I just overeat (which is worse). I'm also working on making sure I drink enough water. Just because we reached our goals doesn't mean we are perfect, right?
Looking forward to talking with you all :)

Hi all, I'm just joining this group, since yesterday I hit my GOAL WEIGHT of 145lbs!! So, my biggest problem now is adding more calories to my diet (not right away, but slowly) I am going to have to really plan and execute. Being a new vegetarian has been easy for me to reduce my intake and stay on track but now to increase is going to take some extra thought. I thought when I saw the calorie count increase on my nutrient track I was going to stroke out. But now that I have had time to process it all I'm good with the numbers and excited about my new maintence journey. Any help and tips will be greatly appreciated. Good luck to all who have made it as well and big HUGS. jackie

weighed in at TOPS tonight and am 4 pounds below goal. That is good. We can go 7 pounds below or 3 pounds over and be in leeway but I don't want to go over goal as you receive awards if you don't for a year. I don't know how many years it has been since I was in the 140's.

I'm feeling good, I'm at my goal weight . . . . want to get more fitness minutes in. I wouldn't mind getting "down" a couple of pounds just to have a little room to play at vacation time in August. We'll be at fairs and I like to be able to have a HotDog with everything on it . . . . and a Gyro . . . . and a great big ice cream cone. (Deep fat-fried junk at fairs hold no attraction for me, not even tempted.) But, the above treats would be a treat! AND, I still intend to do a couple of 5Ks this summer. I'll let you know how it goes!!

Congratulations to everyone! I'm within my goal range. My main project is to add a healthy habit, one at a time, untill it becomes natural. Somehow, exercise is a habit that I've been working on for 8 years and if I was told today that "exercise is not good for me and even dangerous for my health" , I would drop it in a second...smile... I do exercise 5-6 days a week and always feel wonderful AFTER I'm done.

It's funny, but I seem to be slowly gaining, not much a couple of pounds. I'm eating cleaner and exercising more, yet the scale is going up. Strange! But I am just going to keep doing what I am doing because it's healthy. Maybe my body is more happy around 137, then 133, 135? I'm 5'11, so being in the low 130's is probably a little low for me. But between you and I, if I got to 132 I would be jumping for joy, but I don't think that will happen. Oh well, enjoy life, and enjoy good healthy food is my motto!!

Two months into the maintenance stage and I'm staying within the range i set for myself of keeping my weight within 101-105. i feel better when i'm closer to the 101 mark but did see 104.5 once this month. ate a little too much over memorial day weekend but i got right back on it and got weight back down to 101.5 withing 4 days.

I am still below goal and maintaining, although I did have a small bump of a few pounds recently, so I took away my extra maintenance points for a little while and got back to my usual weight. It is all part of the journey. :-)

I guess within maintaining. I was at 133 for like a minute, then 135 seemed to be my average, which I'm happy with, but as of today, I'm 137, I seem to be slowly gaining, but I am unsure why. I'm exercising more and I'm trying to eat a little more, since I wasn't eating enough. I think my body maybe readjusting, well see how it goes in a week or so.

I have spent my entire life either desperately trying to lose weight or working like crazy to keep it off. To find myself suddenly "underweight" and being told to gain a few pounds is astonishing. I go back and forth between "yes you CAN eat the Reeses" and mortal fear of reminding my taste buds of what took me so long to forget. I'm putting a little extra oil in the pan when I cook now, but that's all I can let myself do right now. I also had a bad thyroid test, so I have to have in re-done in a few weeks. The results of that test will tell me what (or what not) to do next.
This getting old stuff is a pain.

Belita: My husband saw a dietician for gaining weight and she recommended nuts, avocado, sesame seeds, etc. There are many healthy things that you can add a tad more to your diet to gain weight. One shouldn't gain weight by eating junk food. (Not that I think one should never eat junk food though!)

I did too much partying during the Easter season & it got the best of me! However, I am still (barely) within the goal I set myself...to be within the 18 - 25 range on the BMI & am reporting a .5 lb loss this week. Not a lot, but re-assuring! Maintaining is a new ball game for me...my pattern has been to lose weight & gain it all back. I want it to be different this time!
P. S. I thought I'd better add that I am TALL...at 5'8'' I can carry some weight & don't look too heavy at my present weight...I could call it my "fighting weight," couldn't I???? LOL

Interesting how stress causes some people to gain, some to lose. I have been under terrible stress this last 6 months with my hubby's stroke and broken leg and infections, and the weight just fell off. Yet others gain. Wonder why?

Hi 's Well we had a nice meeting at TOPS. I gained some but am still 3 pounds under goal. I was swollen. We had a special celebration for our wonderful weight recorder who has been a KOP for 5 years. We had snacks and it was the healthiest thing we have had at a get together. I took WASA krispbread with laughing cow cheese to spread on it. They seemed to like it and I took the nutritional information. It has no fat and no sugar and low sodium and has fiber. A very good snack introduced to me by a friend. God bless all of you. Keep up the good work. Irene

I am below my goal, and my doctor says I am slightly into the "unhealthy" BMI range, but I am loathe to try to gain weight. I figure it will come back on all by itself.

I actually haven't been on the scale for about a month (it was making me crazy), but my clothes still fit so that's good. Would like them to be a little more loose though!
Great job everyone!!!

Today I am in the middle of my range. Since I continually go up and down one or two pounds, I am happy with this. I am upping my exercise and taking time to have nutritious snacks so I hope I stay right where I am.

I started off at 146.8 and ended at 143.2 for a total loss of 103.8 lbs. My goal weight was 155 but am still playing with it. Am in the correct BMI but am thinking my new goal weight should be that 100 lb milestone marker. That would be 147 lbs. No matter what the numbers, I am feeling absolutely wonderful. Love shopping for clothes. Feeling like I am in control of my body and what goes in it. Run three times a week and power walk the rest.

I was in my range of 124-129.9 the entire month of May. I weighed 127 this morning. So, I'm feeling pretty good.
