I am back safe and sound, picked up a prescription and bought four cards. Lots going on this month.

Corky, you have to create your own sparkpage. You'll get a bunch of sparkpoints for doing it, and it tells everyone a little more about you.

I tried Metrecal back in the 60s, and Ayds reducing candy, and everything else. I joined Weight Watchers and lost weight by learning to eat real food. And I DID need to learn what to eat, when to eat, and how to prepare it. Who knew that "diet" food could taste so good? And it's because it is the same food everyone else eats, just done my way. The only reason I have been able to keep it off: you can't live the rest of your life on "meal replacements". I suppose that one of these days I'll be in a home drinking Ensure, and I'll wait till then for a canned meal. Until that time, I want real, yummy food.

Sorry to say, but that last post sounds like a sales pitch and I notice there's no sparkpage. What's up, Corkeny95? Why wouldn't we just want to eat a meal of real food of the same calories?

I'm not at goal, and my weight is fluctuating about 4 pounds, but the trend is downward.

Isabellet I'm with you there! We shouldn't preach anyway, no sooner than I get on my soapbox and WHAM! I have to be picked up off the floor because I forgot to practice what I preached! I went to a rally this weekend myself and had a good time making some really bad choices. Today I am back on track!

Yes! I am going on month two maintaining. I actually went 7 lbs under my goal and I'm maintaining at that weight. I give myself about two pounds to fluctuate. This way I can gain and lose and still be under my goal weight.

Or you might find you LIKE the lower weight. I went under my goal from stress this last year, and I find that I enjoy it. I never would have made it a conscious goal. Now I just have to decide if I am willing to live with the constraints of maintaining it, and that's a different question. Sometimes you have to try on different weights to see how they fit.

CLARKBAR01, just keep doing what you are comfortable doing, sometimes it takes a bit to stabilize. Reduce your exercise a bit, or increase your calories but don't do both at once or you will end up having the opposite problem!

Success consists of a series of little daily victories.

Clark, your body is the ultimate chemical lab. No matter what is 'supposed" to happen, our bodies determine what food we need. If you're unhappy with your lower weight, go ahead and have those few more bites. That might be all it takes. But if you don't have to stress over food to stay where you are, go with it. Do what you can sustain consistently. emoticon

Today. May 16, I weighed in at 169.5 with a 22.69 BMI. My goal was 170. That's 35.5 pounds in 16 weeks. I must tell you that I had a hard time of maintaining 1600-1800 calories a day. I was usually on the low side. I did my cardio and strength training. But around Jan 19, I started the walk/run program and then the running program. I believe that is when my weight started declining more.

Now I must get educated into maintenance mode.

Made it back into goal range yesterday, 139.

Working hard tracking everything again, since when I stopped tracking is when I started struggling with the yo-yo between October and May. Found my protein and fat were too low, and my sodium was higher than I thought.

At Goal ,
And I Should complain
I am concern about the yo yo effect after reaching my goal. The odds are against us to maintain. This is my 6th month of maintaining. Well as you know raising the Calories and balancing with the output is continuing part of our lives. I think I over compensated this last month and lost 2.5 pounds. Or my metabolism has finally get in.
So considering upping my calories 200 more a day to stabilize. This is not suppose to happen, when your at my age. Any suggestion.
Still working at this.

Congratulations on your maintenance for almost 30 years? or more? Amazing!!!

VERY HEALTHY GREEN SMOOTHIE (VEGAN)

2 servings

I don't like vegetables as much as I like fruits, especially all green leaf vegies.
I got the recipe from two people who eat the vegan way. They drink it every day.

I'll use my VitaMix machine (a very high power blender and worth every penny) , but I'm sure it can be done in a strong blender.
The VitaMix machine liquify everything.
I've made it (in the VitaMix) and I like it a lot. I'm drinking it now every day, changing the dark leaf vegetables every week.

Ingredients

About 6 cups of veriety of greens (aragula, spinach, swiss chard, kale, collard..etc.....
2 cups of unsweeten ALMOND milk
1 apple
fresh piece of ginger root, peeled
cinamon to taste
Allspice to taste
Maple syrup, to taste
Stevia, to taste (as sweet as you like it to be)

Yes I am!!!! Since starting a challenge on another of my teams, I've incorporated sit ups, crunches, lunges and squats into my daily routine. (depending on the score of the Chicago Cubs game). I've noticed a difference, especially around my mid section.

Still under goal. I have 5 more pounds to play with to get up to my goal. Wonder if I want to?

I can firm up more by gardening, and goodness knows there is a lot of gardening to do. Hoeing, weeking, digging, pushing that wheelbarrow, are all very heavy work. Why do I hate it so much?
