I do at least 60 minutes of cardio every day, usually getting to 120 minutes or more. Strength training is on hiatus due to elbow replacement surgery and the problem with that being is I am now limited to only 5 lbs lifting :(

I walk the dogs for a minimum of one hour every night, which is much less active than I was while I was actively losing weight. :-)

Reached my goal November 2009!

I am doing 1 1/2 to 2 hours of cardio each week, spread over 3 or 4 days. I do strength once or maybe twice each week. Typically I am doing strength on the days when I don't do cardio.

There is a workout from Fitness Magazine that I really like b/c it combines cardio with weights (strength would be targeted to arms in this one.) But it is a quicker workout for the days when I don't have a lot of extra time.

Here is a link to the workout:

Hope that helps!

Wow, you guys really workout! I do strength training, everyday but I do core one day, lower one and upper another. I am having a hard time to fitting it all in. thats what worries me. I am at maintainence and I'm doing well, but I am lacking the time in for cardio. I eat healthy and I keep say weight loss is 80% of what you eat, so i am eating very good!! But dam I am having a hard time fitting cardio. I can't get up any earlier (3:45am), I get home from work by 3:00pm, and I have to fix dinner by 4:00, by the time thats all through it's six and I hate working out on a full stomach. I know boo hoo, everyone can do it. thats why I asked how much you fit int to your daily life where you can keep it up.

I love to walk. So I walk with different people everyday. With my cardio tapes I average 14 hours a week. But I love to walk so it doesn't feel like work to me.

I too am a dog walker. 3-5 days a week depending on weather. We walk very fast. The rain has been non-stop here in Seattle for April this year so am slacking a bit I'm afraid.

Cardio is the easy part for me, I get between 10-15 hours of walking (mostly with my dogs) and another 4 hours of running in per week. I'm always having to work on finding time for strength training and stretching.

My goal is 30 min. cardio 5 days a week. I Jazzercise 3 days a week, which is part cardio and part strength training. I walk outdoors 30 min. a day and do 30 min. yoga each morning.
I enjoy all these activities immensely and have been staying right at my goal weight for about 4 years now, so feel I've settled down to a lifestyle I can live with for the rest of my life, thanks to Sparkpeople. emoticon

I try to run 3 times a week. Right now I am at a 3 miles in 40 minutes including warm up and cool down.
I try to get to Curves 3 times a week, two of which are Zumba classes.
I want to get my bike out and bike on my non run days.
I also have a horse I try to ride a few times a week.
I power walk at lunch when the weather is great 1.6 miles around the office buildings.

Guess my cardio is way up there still emoticon

I haven't done a lot lately. I have had two problems: one, a UTI; two, a fall which left my left foot swollen & black & blue. I am recovering, however, & usually I try to get in 90 minutes a week or a little more. That's probably all Ineed to do, because of my age. But, use it or lose it....as they say!

I do 45-60 minutes a day of cardio and or strength depending on the day. I think that if you want to decrease exercise that's okay you may just have to adjust your intake. Play with it and see what works for you!

Some of the info you read about maintenance (here and elsewhere) states that you may have to do as much or more to maintain than what you were doing to lose. I think that depends on the person, their activity level other than exercise, and how much that person expects to be able to eat. I was working out ALOT, but have come to the realization that I need to find a more happy medium. I want to land at a level where I can do this forever, and a large amount of exercise everyday is not really sustainable for a lifetime for most of us.

My cardio is walking (outside when possible, but on the treadmill if I can't be outside). I probably get 30 min 5x/week. I don't push it -- a moderate 20 min/mile pace. Hope you get feeling better!

I might mention that I haven't changed exercise patterns since going to maintenance. I started this journey thinking, "What can I do for the rest of my life?" and I've just kept the same pace. My habit is 2x/week at the gym for strength, and about 5x/week walking.

As far as official cardio, I hardly do any. Maybe once twice a week for 20 min and then I walk with my family for about 1/2 hour to 1 hour at a moderate pace maybe 2-3 week. I don't really push the cardio too much. I am maintaining and I am looking to build muscle as my current goal.

Since your at maintenace has your exercise gone down or have you kept up with it? I was doing 45 - 60 minutes of cardio a day, but I have been reading that 20 minutes of hard cardio is good to maintain weight, plus I do strength training 3 times a week to keep the metabolism going.

Just curious to what kind and how much cardio you do. Honestly, as some of you know, I have been slacking on the carido, but have been walking and still do the strength training, however I have been sick for a week, so I know that is part of the reason for slacking.
