I loved reading the last two posts about clothes! I have even heard about that thing called a 'little black dress'. (Though I do wonder if, from a guys perspective is exactly the same.)

For me -- I love having to ask for a bunch of new clothes for Christmas. It's kinda fun wearing clothes that don't fit because they are baggy. AND, it's made it easy for my wife to do Christmas shopping.

Uh, err... I, for one, am not hoping for a little black dress.

Tonight is our Holiday Concert at the school where I teach. I am going to wear a size 4 black dress! That is the BEST feeling. Just knowing that it's that size makes me carry myself more confidently and then I also appear better!

I am pear shape and I have the lovely "saddle bag" thighs. They have always been the same size as my hips. I also always had a 12+ inch difference between my waist and hips (weight always went to hips and waist was first place I lost) making me buy for my hips and sacrificing fitting my waist. I then had to tailor 2" off the waist of all my pants.
The BEST is: I can now buy any style of jeans I want and wear them without tailoring. They do not have to be relaxed fit or curvy and the waist no longer needs to be tailored. My saddle bags are now smaller than my hips and there is a 10 inch difference from waist to hips. :o) And the icing on the cake is that they are size 2!!!
My in laws have never commented as they are all obese or mobidly obese. I have worked hard and I lament that fact. Makes me wonder if I would comment if they lost weight. I even came out and said I lost 40 pounds and my MIL replied "Oh really? I hadn't noticed"

Very nice. On people noticing: my experience has been that the folks who are comfortable in their own skin are the ones who will comment and compliment. The ones who have tried and failed are the folks who never mention it--like the blue monkey in the middle of the room that no one ackowledges. But I understand that. I've been there and been that person, too. (And I'm not good at noticing like some others are--I don't notice when they've gained a little, either, usually).

The best is hard... but today, at this moment -- the best is that wonderful inner satisfaction of knowing I actually did this. Kind of an inner smile. It's my private joy of accomplishment.

I get embarrassed (and happy) when people walk up and notice it. (They often have failed at weight loss and there is no joy in rubbing it in. I usually tell them it must be my haircut. They laugh.) If they open the door I share the Spark... 4 friends have signed up who approached me. Cool!

Second best is stepping out of the shower and seeing what has happened when I glance at the mirror. Who is that skinny guy????

Third-- I am training for my 5th marathon. Words could not describe the difference running almost 30 pounds lighter. I have experienced real runners high... I feel better than 20 years ago running. Yes!

Fourth, best, the fours stages of Spark seem to be 4 really good principles for many other things. I find myself thinking of those.

I really like not getting bent out of shape if someone wants to take pictures. I don't even mind being in the front. I don't worry that someone will want to go swimming.

The best thing, though, is I fit in an airplane seat comfortably now.

I love going into my old age doing things I could not do as a young person - I amaze not only myself, but everyone around me.

As time rolls by at goal, people will forget you used to be fat. I have to keep reminding myself that all that misery is just an afternoon of Reeses and Cheetos away. That's why I'm here on Spark keeping it green.

thing about being at goal is the fun that I can have with my kids. We race around the outside of the house. We ride bikes together.... The list goes on. The best thing is that I am a good role model for my kids!

I have been at goal and maintaining for the last 3 years and I still am amazed that I can go into a clothes store and buy anything I want and know that I will look good in it! It's absolutely the new confidence that feels the best.

We are constantly creating our "karma" or destiny through our intentions, thoughts and deeds in this moment. It is achieved through countless deliberate acts of selflessness.

I love the woman I have become. I am more confident, aware of the people around me, I am more interesting because I do more things and have more subjects I can discuss. I also love to shop and buy smaller sizes. I don't have to take what fits, but what looks good on me.

I am loving reading everyone's replies to this! There are so many positives to our weight loss results that if I thought I got them all listed, you'd get tired of reading, and then I would think of another one anyway! But to add a few...I love that I "fit"--into small clothes, into our airplane seat and the seatbelt, into little spaces when folks are squeezed together in a bunch. I love that my legs, arms, hips, back and shoulders, etc feel so firm, toned, and small. I love that I can bend over, squat down, run a bit, etc without feeling like everybody's thinking "Geez, look at that" or hurting or being out of breath. I love that I can clean house all day without hurting and being completely wore out that evening (not that I love cleaning house, but at least I can). And as I told a friend the other day, I love that I'm back in heels--not 4" spikes, but a nice heel that accentuates the leg and makes a neat "click, click, click" as I walk across the floor. To me it's a sexy sound. It's good to be female, esp when you feel good and believe you look pretty good! And lest someone think not, I, too, am grateful. Grateful for God who would watch over me, esp during the process, for resolve to do this and my family's encouragement, and for support of SP and my friends here.

I believe that people CAN change, and change profoundly. We all change as we get older and more experienced, and we can change by choice if we have the desire...and the direction of people who know more than we do. While busy losing weight those years ago, I learned that I had more control over my actions than I ever thought. I learned that I wasn't a victim of other people's thoughts and actions. I learned that there is no shame in asking for help, and I learned to follow directions. Then I learned that I can help others in the lessons taught to me. I came to believe in God and, sappy as that sounded at the time, He loves me through everything. And, while none of that directly related to weight loss, weight loss was the result.

And I have been able to apply those lessons to all other areas of my life. Being a fat teenager was a terrible misery, but it was worth every minute of that misery because without it, I never would know what I know now. And for all of it, I am grateful.

Interesting question, but of course, I am still me. But I'm a me that is much more comfortable in many situations. I don't mind looking in the mirror, being photographed, and trying on clothes, for example. I have so much more energy, so I'm better able to enjoy life, especially playing with my grandkids. I just feel healthier. And, of course, I am healthier -- blood pressure and cholestrol are now normal. I don't mind going to the doctor for a check up. I love looking at my closet and being able to choose to wear whatever I want, not trying to figure out what I can get into today.

This new person isn't new just because she's at goal. She's new because she's learned that she doesn't have to be perfect. She's new because she knows she's worth taking care of. She's new because she's learned that it's OK to look feelings in the face, even the ugly ones.

And of course, I love feeling fit, strong and healthy!

I was emailing a Spark friend today... she is at goal and was talking about things she really enjoys about this 'new' person.

What about you? What do you like best about this new you? I'll share mine later ...

(Ok, I am new here -- I am flooded with ideas.)
