I gained several pounds after surgery since I couldn't get out and walk. I am working now to get back to goal. Only 4 more pounds. I can do it.

Hi Annie,
Love to see a pic. Of Joey in his pet basket. Bet he looks cute. They have the most amazing things for pets now so they can be safe outside.

It's raining here in Fl this am too. Looks like an all day rain which is unusual for us. We have to go vote today and then make a food run at Walmart. Have a good day everyone. Time to go give Thor his insulin shot. He does so well with that twice a day..Noon and Midnight.

Hey Slenderella! Good job. I lost three below my original goal, just so I wasn't always fighting to stay at a specific number. I selected a 4 pound range. If I get to the top of my range, I really buckle down for a day or two to get back in the middle.

We were up early for DH to go to the lab for fasting blood work. Then we went for a bike ride. I even took Joey in his pet bike basket for about 20 minutes. It is a new thing and he is still getting comfortable with it. I know he likes being with us rather than home alone. He generally doesn't bark when we leave and the last two times I put him in the house after a bike ride, he barked. He didn't want to be left behind. I got to the bank and now it is raining. We may not get much done that requires going outside as it looks like it may rain the rest of the day so I am pleased we got things done this morning.

Have a great day everyone.

I'm currently 1.6 pounds away from goal and have PMS this week. I just need to get through these next two weeks then I'll hit goal. I'd really like to stay here this time. It took me quite a while to lose the weight this time since I turned 35. So maintenance here I come!

Happy Monday. I played pickleball this morning for 2.5 hours. I usually play for 1.5 hours but both groups I sub for needed me today. I played with one for an hour and then immediately went and played with the other for 1.5 hours. It was a lot of fun. I stayed hydrated and it was good. DH and I just returned from 30 minutes on our bikes. I took mine out to show one of my pickleball friends and then we got a short ride in. We are having a lot of rain so we need to get out when we can.

Have a great week everyone.

Thank you Victoria and Nell. I appreciate your hugs and prayers.

Annie, Congratulations on maintaining your loss. Remember you will fluctuate, so allow yourself a maintance range of 2 pounds. That's what I do and it makes it easier and less stressful. I don't think it's possible to stay exactly the same day after day due to what we eat or water retention or whatever.

HI everyone. I got back into my Curves routine on Monday after I got back from Pa last Sat. for my dear Mom's funeral. She died in her sleep at the age of 84 on Aug. 6. That was also my 4 year Spark anniversary. Needless to say that day will be one of mixed feelings from now on. But I'm doing ok. My Dad is 91 and he's doing as well as can be expected. he is in the house alone but my brother checks in on him on his way to and from work each day.

I go to Curves 5 days a week and work out for 30 minutes. I get extra exercise mopping the floors and other cleaning during the week. I have to keep moving every day not only to maintain in my goal range, but because of my fibro and arthritis. I was quite sore from not having much exercise the week I was at Dad's. My soreness is getting better now.

Just hangin' out today on Spark and I want to read a book and watch some golf or football..whatever I can find on TV this afternoon and evening.

Yes.

I am having a great day. I played pickleball this morning and had such a good time. My friend Donna and I are the weakest players in the group of 5 who played today. The others are much better than we are. We won a game playing together. It went into extra points and we won 13 to 11 (normally 11 is a game but you have to win by 2 points). It was the only game Donna won today and it was such a wonderful feeling to be able to play so well. I really don't care if a win I just want to play well but it was so rewarding to see Donna win against such tough competition.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I put on 6 lbs total between April (when I hit my goal) and August. It was gradual once that I introduced carbs back in to my meals. I just did a 2 day protein boost, with almost no carbs and so far 4 lbs fell off! I love feeling that I'm in control of my body and adjusting when it falls off goal.

Me, too, Carrie. Kind of depressing to think we'll have to put in 90 min a day forever! Still optimistic that it can go down to just an hour, maybe.

I am only a walker, except for the work of cleaning (hauling buckets and vacuums up and down stairs, moving furniture, etc.)

I maintain by limiting calorie intake. These days I find it easier to just eat less, just new habits, I guess. I seldom eat out, never eat between meals, seldom eat a dessert, never have seconds.

But I am the Cook, so I make sure the portions I CAN eat are spectacular.

That's what I'm experiencing. However, with a back injury, walking is all I can do, so I find myself walking just about everywhere. In fact, I go to the supermarket each day, just to get in the 3 miles.

I just hope at some point I can stop having to do 2 or more hours a day.

I was working out between 70 and 90 minutes a day during the week, and about 2 hrs/day on the weekends. Sometimes threw in another 2 mile walk 2X a week. I have cut out the additional walks, and about an hour on Sunday. So far, that's all I've cut out unless we have plans for the evening and can't get the second workout of the day in. I've read that you need to keep up your weight loss type workouts for awhile while upping the calories, so your body will realize you don't need to store those calories. I guess it depends on how much you had to exercise to lose the weight.

Farmgirl is right, and what a wonderful way to look at it. Maintaining just means "not gaining it back". You don't have to be at goal yet for that.

And whereever you are "not gaining" is a good thing.

Thanks for the encouragement. I never thought of "maintaining" where I'm at. I am trying different cardio and more strength training. I track everything I eat and stay within my calories on most days. I'm hoping my body will eventually let the excess go!

You're still maintaining the loss you've had so far :)! Keep at it; don't give up. Change things around a bit and maybe ramp up your cardio a bit. See if you can get off your "stuck". You'll get there.

I feel I may have joined this team too quickly. I was 146, when I joined with a goal of 140-145. Now I have been stuck between 146-148 for over a month. You all seem to do so well so it's very encouraging to know it can be done, but I feel like I haven't earned this yet. You should all be very proud of all you've done. Should I rejoin the team when I lose a little more or stay in?

After many months of being a few pounds over, I am finally back in range. We had a solid month of company (family) which usually means weight gain, but I guess all the extra activity of cooking, cleaning, and playing with grandkids did the trick. Now I must monitor more strictly -- I was a yo-yo and know how it can come back quickly.
Michelle, hope to see you back soon!

Leaving the team for awhile. I have been maintaining, but at about 10-13 pounds ABOVE goal. I won't go into the long story of the slow gain but you can check my blog if you're interested.

I WILL RETURN - when I'm back to goal and within my maintenance range. Christmas maybe? Rejoining the team will be a mini-reward for getting back to where I want to be.

Keep Sparkin', y'all!

I've been maintaining for over a year now. I can't believe it. I have never done that before. Even now, when I do laundry, I think it's been nice wearing this size. I keep waiting for myself to get too big for them again. That's how it has always worked in the past.

this makes me laugh. i'm a dancer and burn 2k plus a week, altho spark thinks I only burn 1k. this is to make me feel better (read I also have disordered eating). so I usually eat in a calorie range of 1600 even tho spark already says up to 1900 without the additional exercise.. so the last week or so I've been eating between 1600-1900 and I've lost 3 pounds. this makes me laugh.... I need to listen to spark and trust my body that when it's truly hungry, it needs to eat!

I'm in my maintenance range of 5 pounds, but would like to lose 2 pounds. It doesn't matter to me how long it will take to lose it.
6 years and one month and 4 days on maintenance for life! (I do not count the hours.....smile.....)

Congratulations to all the members for reaching or wanting to reach their individual goals.

I'll celebrate 10 years of maintenance on July 2nd, 2014!

They gave me benadryl in a shot and some other antihistamine. and whew about prednisone and side effects. man I really was hating that they told me that. my eyes and lips are a bit swollen still today and they said my husband had to stay home with me for 24 hours to make sure it didn't come back since it was from my allergy shot.

Did they give you Benadryl. I know all about Prednisone..It is what I call the miracle drug to get the swelling down in my lungs so I can breathe. Four days shouldn't cause any side affects. Hope you feel better soon.

I had to go to the ER once when my tongue swelled up for some apparent reason. Some allergy. Never happened again, than goodness. That was scary.

it worked out fine because i ended up in the ER for 2 hours with a severe allergic reaction to my allergy shot (of all things) so by the time I got home and had a small dinner I was still at the low end of my range. heh.

and yes Im feelng somewhat better but because I was injected I may have symptoms for a few days so they gave me PREDNISONE for four days! ARGH

Yes, get back on track now. You don't have to wait until tomorrow. We've all "been there, done that." Don't worry about it. It's over and move on! I wouldn't have been able to resist your banana bread either! emoticon

Congrats on 20 years married. That is always so wonderful to hear.

I am just concentrating on not fixating on weight, exercise, etc anymore. I have been struggling with my weight almost all my life, so learning to relax about it is hard work. But I am getting better.

I am a bit over my "happy" weight right now, but back to tracking and not eating sweets. But the great thing is that I am not all bent out of shape over it. I AM learning.

Not sure if I'm at my goal weight, but I'm at a realistically healthy weight that my body doesn't seem to want to change so I stopped trying to make it change!!

I am a couple of pounds over my goal weight, but so happy with progress maintained since 2008.
