Absolutely wonderful! Sometimes when I pass by a shop window or glance in the mirror,I still can't believe it's me!

I keep noticing I have RIBS and HIP BONES -- they used to be under so much fat, I never noticed they were there. People keep asking if I've lost more over the summer -- I think I've lost fat, but built muscle, so I look slimmer. And I LOVE it!

I was a happy person before, so, it doesn't make you "happy." I'm not a person who was fat all my life -- weight had crept up on me as I "aged." So -- being slim now makes me feel . . . . HEALTHIER, spring-ier, more confident, more energy, more positive, better outlook. I feel proud of myself that I achieved my goal. I feel DETERMINED to maintain this renewed healthy lifestyle. I just feel GOOD, better than I was feeling over 60 pounds ago. Oh, and I DO love wearing size 4 -- or trying on size 4s that are sometimes too big!--fun!

it took me a long time to realize just how small i really am now. i used to go into this particular designer clothes store and was too afraid to try any of the jeans on because they were made for really skinny ladies. well, let me tell you, i finally got up the courage to go in there and try on some jeans and boy was i ecstatic when i asked for a size 32 and they were much to big for me and i was to able to ask the sales clerk to bring a size 29. YAY ME!!
after being a size 44, a 29 sounds like celebration time. i dont think ive EVER worn a size that small in my life.

and they fit comfortably not tight at allemoticon

I would say at this point it is confusing! Like others, I have to check every morning that my fat hasn't come back. I still don't FEEL skinny, despite my size 2 jeans. I feel fat and confused and frustrated that people don't understand that it takes time for the mind to catch up with the body.

But, it feels wonderful to feel healthy! To be a runner and to enjoy being active and fit. To not struggle on a hike with my family, to be the person saying... "LETS GO!" instead of, "hold on a sec...I need a breather!"

Imperfection is important. If we were all perfect, then there would be no such thing as growth, and everyone would be extremely boring, which is, paradoxically, not that perfect.-- Dr. Matt

Love the way I look in my jeans! With a nice fitting t-shirt. Still have the little belly but jeans hold it in real nice, I am working on it though. No, it's not the body I had at 27, pre-kid, but it's not bad for 46.

I can wear clothes that look nice. I don't have to settle for what's available in my size.

Geina,

I can actually relate to that. While I love being thinner, right now when I pass my reflection in glasses as I walk by buildings, sometimes it amazes me...like I'll think, "Who is that??" But then I end up feeling great that I've accomplished the goal of losing the weight.

That's awesome that you're enjoying wearing your clothes. That's fantastic - and congrats on being a size 0!!!! Wow! That's awesome.

My Nana told me one time that she would walk by the mirror and see her reflection. She would think to herself, "Who is that old woman?" That is kind of where I am right now..."Who IS that thin woman?"
That being said, I LOVE being able to wear just about anything I want to! I have focused on buying quality pieces of clothing, not just anything. My latest acquisition? A pair of size 0 (that's ZERO!) Drew cut pants from the Limited.

Living at my goal weight the past couple of months I'm learning what healthy looks like on my body. Someways it is better than I thought it would be with more energy but I think some of the extra skin and stretch marks from pregnancy don't go away so not "slim" like I dreamed. My DH is great, he is always commenting on his sexy wife and that helps. I can wear a bikini just not brave enough to try it in public yet. Overall I feel much healthier and happier with life!

Honestly, I still don't feel "slim". I feel much healthier (I didn't realize how bad I felt until I lost weight), I don't dread trying on clothes, and I like the way I look more than I did 50 pounds ago, but I still don't feel SLIM. I think that's just something that's going to take time for me to accept.

All of the below! I used to avoid mirrors, but now I probably spend too much time looking at myself in full length mirrors, even after a year of being here, it's still amazing to me that I don't have that big belly anymore!!!

It's nice to know I can wear anything in my closet and know I'm not going to have to take something off because it is uncomfortably tight. Somethings are actually a little too loose.

It is COMFORTABLE is what it is. I will never forget how uncomfortable I was when I was over weight. I still feel sorry when I see people who are way over and I know how uncomfortable that is. I always wish I could just give those people a Spark card. I wouldn't do it unless I know them though because I don't want to offend anyone or have people think I am judging them.

I still stare at myself in the mirror and can't believe this is me. I think for me that slim is as much a state of mind as it is a lack of pudge. I feel fit and healthy when I am at this weight and activity level, and that makes my overall outlook more positive and energetic. When I eat less healthy, slack off on the exercise and inevitably gain weight, I don't feel mentally as well.

Being thinner means I can walk by a mirror and actually look at myself. Before, I actually avoided mirrors altogether. Another feeling about being thin is just plain feeling good about how I look, the clothes I wear, and being healthier. I love exercising and the new journey of thinness.

Today it feels pretty. I actually feel pretty this spring. I means wanting to find attractive clothes that fit perfectly instead of what I can get by with. I still do a double take sometimes when I look in the mirror but not near as often

I'll be honest. Sometimes it feels alien, even years later. This is as much a mental thing as a weight/bmi/body comp/clothes fitting thing.

Years passed and sometimes I don't recognize myself in the mirror, which freaks me out. It's much more rare now, but I still will panic when I try on some clothes, or try some activity where my inner fat kid is screaming "you can't! you mustn't!" Or the disconnect I get sometimes when people are talking to me and I realize who they see isn't who I am.

And yet there's the simple things: not worrying about sitting in a chair, realizing I can go a couple rounds on the speed bags, all the fun discoveries: I have knees and veins, I can actually sprint for 2 minutes at the 10.5 setting on the treadmill, that no matter who I was, what I looked like doesn't have any bearing on who I am now.

So all that taken together *laughs*, when I actively think about it I lean back and think "jesus god, what a wild ride."

It's one that wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

I'd also be really curious to know which web site you were also on -- would love to check out the responses there!

Best,
Russ Lane

It is so different to go clothes shopping and not be disgusted with the image in the mirror. Before, even if the clothes fit the way they were supposed to, I couldn't stand that I even needed to wear clothes that allowed for "all the extra me". Now I can usually choose between 2 sizes and know one is going to fit. There is always the loose skin under the upper arms and elsewhere to contend with, but I can live with that!

Now, to see my whole life ahead of me and know I must keep up a good attitude about the new life style can be overwhelming at times. People have told me I stand straighter and walk with better posture and that makes me feel good. Now that the thighs don't rub together, I found out I'm knock-kneed! emoticon

My "outsides" feel much more like my "insides" now that I'm at a healthy weight. I'm grateful to have accomplished this now because it is making the inevitable and undeniable aging changes much easier to cope with. I don't look like "me at 25" anymore, but I still can bound up a flight of stairs, run 3 miles, and look stylish in clothes.

I also feel brave. For example...I just bought a bikini for the first time in 14 years -- yikes! It's a more modest competition-type suit, but it is a 2-piece. My husband liked it on me better than a one-piece suit.

Now to summon up the courage to wear it outside when the weather gets warmer. Only a few months to go. I better stick with those ab exercises a la Jillian. I'm going to do it!

I feel so unbelievably proud of myself! I didn't think I would ever get back to this weight and I did, and it was not that hard!

I run my hand over my stomach in the morning when I wake up and smile that my pooch is really gone, I was not dreaming.

I stand in front of the mirror and analyze what areas need toning instead of going 'blah'.

I'm amazed how slender my thighs have become.

I look forward to exercise and healthy food choices.

I am happy w/ myself, my accomplishments, my life. And I go forward and spread good will and hope to inspire others.

I'll be honest here. I feel better than I ever felt when I was fat. I'm more confident, more assertive, and more at ease with myself. I was happy with my marriage, family, career and life in general before, but now it's all a bit better because I'm happy with me.

I have been under 130 lbs since October. I was there only once before when I lost weight about 6 years ago and stayed there only a few weeks after becoming a WW lifetime member. I have been fat my whole life but even as a kid I was not as fat as I thought I was. Now that I am about 115 lbs, when I look down at my body I too see extra fat yet when I look in the mirror I look at a very slim body.
I have also learned there is a difference between fat and flab. Flab is just loose skin and since I have gained and lost so many times, although it is unsightly the flab remains. It is still better than having it filled in with fat.

My self image continues to think I am overweight. So I am usually surprised when someone refers to me as slim. But I feel great and hope to maintain my current weight as the top of my range. But comfort is the big feeling, in clothes, in airplane seats, squeezing between people or things in aisles. It is being aware of how precious good health is and wanting to maintain it. It is worth every minute of exercise and foregoing desserts.

I am only just getting used to being slim but it's great to feel comfortable in my own skin. The health benefits are the biggest bonus. I FEEL healthy (after illness)and I've been able to reduce prescription medication.

Other things - today when I had a bath, there were no red marks where my clothes had been. Thighs don't rub. Rings fit. Boots and shoes feel more comfortable. The list of comfortable feelings is long. It's great to put on jeans and a T-shirt and feel 'free' of my rolls of fat.

Like Marsha, OLMOM3,I still have to check every morning that my fat has still gone!

Good luck with making your own discoveries!

hmm... i have been "at goal" for only 2 months... but have been on my weight loss journey for quite awhile... i have felt healthy and happy for at least a year because that is when i started caring about my health and taking care of myself... regardless of what the weight on the scale says.

but now that the bmi says im "healthy" it honestly feels pretty weird. i have been obese since i was in kindergarten... ultimately reaching 323 pounds at my heaviest. i have never been thin, never even been just "heavy" ive always been obese... so my body feels very foreign to me. my bones stick out, chairs are uncomfortable, i cant lay on the ground anymore... im always cold... lol but i can exercise, i can fit into cute clothes, i am not seen as the heavy girl... those things are great : )

I stand in front of the mirror -- in clothes and naked -- and I smile. I feel light. Yesterday I tried on a size 4 that was too big and laughed.

Today my husband said with all my muscles I should go do the digging and I grimaced. Then he said, well maybe I couldn't, because I don't have enough weight to step on the shovel and make it go down.

Sometimes I sit and a little pooch appears. Especially if the waist is snug, it pooches over and I feel fat again. Or I try on a size 6 that is too small and I feel fat again.

When I wake up in the morning first thing I don't remember if I'm fat or thin and have to feel.

I guess I'm only feeling slim part of the time. I'll get there. -Marsha

Obviously it feels good. But it also feels natural even though I had never ever been slim before.

It is nice knowing that you can find clothing that will fit and I have more bounce in my walk, most of the time.

Mostly I still feel like me. I am always aware that this is a lifestyle change and if I ever go back to the old ways I will also go back to the old weighs.

As I am not slim but am trying hard for last over a year to reach the target weight and waist-Hip ratio.
I am sure it must be very satisfying and motivating to see self as fit and slim.

I have been at goal for 5 years with one "slip" as a result of inactivity due to a broken leg. I came back and actually went a little below by original goal. Feeling slimmer and more about feeling healthy. Looking forward to the 3 block walk to the car after a ball game rather than dreading it, enjoying clothes shopping and knowing I can deal with eating out and enjoying myself.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

I know what being healthy feels like, does that count? I am healthy. I am at a healthy weight. I am happy. I am happy with my weight and my body. Lately, when we go out to eat, I keep looking around for what I am missing...thinking maybe I left my purse...only to realize the only thing I am missing is my belly in my lap when I sit.

I am not really sure what slim feels like. I have a hard time seeing myself as slim....even at goal...even when my oldest sister calls me "the skinny sister." Ironically, I think our other sister is slimmer than I am! LOL

Reached my goal November 2009!

Weight Watchers worked for me and now I work for Weight Watchers.

It is a life style, not a life sentence.

I have been at goal for a long time so I know how it feels to be slim.

It feels the same as reaching any other goal. I am glad I can wear slim clothes, but it isn't magic. It didn't make my life perfect. Happiness is a result of the lessons I learned in losing weight, in being able to find joy in life, and none of it has to do necessarily with being thin, but with finally being able to be what I want to be.

If you can find joy in the journey to goal weight, you can find joy in life after goal. Thin is what other people see, not what I feel.

I saw a similar thread like this on another weight loss forum, and was amazing to read for people like me who are still on our way.

Have you ever thought about it? What does being slim feel like? Or just say whatever words come into your head.

Start: May 1st 2006, 200lbs, 53% body fat

Finish: January 16th 2016, 110lbs, 17% body fat
