I weighed in at WW today at 131.4, my lowest point with WW ever, the lowest weight I've been in 32 years. That was after having a 3 pound gain in the middle of the week and having to rein it back in. I'm going to aim for 2 pounds plus or minus, but sometimes might go a little more....

I would look at how big an increase in calories you had. If it was more than 100-200 per day, you may want to drop it back to that level, and give it a week or two and see where you are. Sounds like you gave it a month already, and 6 lbs is close to what I gained after Christmas (just from one day of eating differently than I normally do) but after a few days back to my normal routine, it dropped back to my comfort zone. I think for me it was water/sodium etc, and just eating foods I'm not used to, like sugar laden candies...

So if part of your gain was holiday related, then try cleaning it up, and dropping your calories to the lower end of your maintenance suggested range, and see how that goes.

The other thing you might look at is your workouts, have you stayed at the same level with those? If not, you may want to drop the calories because of that too.

Good luck, and Happy New Year!

Dennis, as we age our calorie requirements drop. Doesn't seem fair, but there it is. You can read all the charts out there, but in the end your body will decide what your intake should be, and the scale is the only way it can tell you. I read about drinking lots of water, or eating certain foods can "fool" your body into being what it isn't, but it hasn't worked for me.

For me staying at goal is being willing to accept what my body tells me and eat accordingly. My comfort with that comes with learning how to make the best of those limitations.

Nell

No one ever got up in the morning wishing she'd eaten more the night before.

My official weight for the first day of 2010 is 192 lbs. That is up 6 lbs since around Dec. 4, 2009 moving from losing to maintaining stage--(I trust that the increase is temporary). SP (and livestrong.com) estimated my maximum calorie need for maintaining at 2200, which is much higher than I was eating during the losing stage.

Admittedly, I do not like the increase in weight, but that doesn't deter me from pursuing my objectives. However, I will re-think about SP's calorie increase and may lower it so that I'm back on the losing and not experiencing the steady increase that I have been. The increase also increases my resolve to get back on track with whatever my true calorie needs are. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I have maintained this month and with the help of Spark, shall I go on maintaining! I think the walks every day, including after Christmas dinner, really help keep me on track.

Congratulations to all who continue to maintain -- and to all those who are working on it!

Happy New Year to All!

I reached my goal of 206 at the end of Oct.2009. I started Sept.2008 at 296. I'm currently at 199. I did it through Weight Watchers. So far so good weighted in yesterday and lost 0.2 and I can say I enjoyed myself over the Christmas Holidays. I like so many of you have lost weight countless times the problem is keeping it off. I hope that with the life style changes I made I won't have to do this anymore. emoticon

The few days after Christmas I creeped up to 5 lbs over my range, but with cleaning up my eating I'm gratefully back in my range. I'm sure it was more a water retention/bloating thing, but still alarming! I'm glad to be back in range, and feeling good for the coming New Year!

Still in range weight-wise, but also in the sense that Seaglassqueen set out, and Carolejean pointed out. Making good choices, and living a healthy lifestyle are keeping me focused on the goal of health, not just the number.

I am at goal and December will be my first month maintaining! I'm very happy about it, but I have a few challenges ahead - I will be moving to a different country next month (won't have a kitchen to cook in for the first two months), and I also have a slipped disk which has been preventing my usual exercise in the last week. I hope when the acute phase of my disc problems passes soon so I can restart my program.

Congrats to all of yoU!

At I am goal! However I don't identify this with a number on a scale but by my choices I make each day to be healthy and more importantly at peace with my self. The weight on the scale can fluctuate so wildly for me that it drives me insane and then I throw my hands in the air and then go on a binge. I work my program knowing that it works and trust in my daily choices to keep my at my goal- which is to be healthy and fit!

My personal affirmation that I created for myself when I was 300+ pounds-"I am a person of value regardless of what I weigh. I am here to make a difference!" Using the power of love, I lost 173 pounds.

I am below goal, but in a way I have reset my goal 5 lbs. less than originally stated 4 years ago cause I like the way my clothes fit. I'm trying to get 5 below that before we leave home for 2 weeks of family travel and celebration. I'm 2 lbs away and we leave in 5 days. But my daughter-in-law has invited me to do hot yoga on Sunday. emoticon

55 years!!! What an inspiration!!! Congratulations! You put together three important ingredients for such a successful maintenance "recipe"!

My favorite ingredient is diligence.

Earnest and persistent application to an undertaking; steady effort; assiduity.

Still on crutches, still living a life like I'm maintaining (being mindful, etc). Finally allowed minimal exercise... so I say YES I AM!!

Also, can you believe it? Here I am, on crutches, allowed to put no more than 25lbs of weight down on my right leg... but getting on that exercise bike, leg brace and all, regularly. This is per the doctors orders, mind. If I can do it, there's no excuse for those who "don't have time" or "aren't sure where to start." It's NOT easy but no one who can exercises, thinks they should start, but hasn't yet has ANY excuse next to me!

Not yet, but I'm getting there...if things go well, I'll be joining you for the party at the first of the New Year. 4.4 pounds to go to top of my maintenance range, then another 4.4 to get to goal.

I've been in losing mode again the past month or so after a loooong time of maintaining about 10 pounds above my goal range.

WooHOO to all the maintainers!

My Weds weigh-in was just at the top of my goal range, so YES! My goal for the month is to stay in range, and get closer to the bottom of the range, I've been hovering right at the top and a little above for too long now...

highest weight ever:202, SP starting weight: 143

New goal: more practical new goal, 129, update ticker to reflect that goal.

Yes, I am at goal. What I need is to build confidence that I can actually stay here. Working on building muscle and reducing fat percentage is one of my strategies.

I lost 60 lbs. and kept it off for almost 3 years until I broke my leg summer of 2008 in bike accident. By Christmas had added on almost 20 to top of maintenance goal. Using Wii Fit, a personal trainer and patience, I am not almost at the bottom of my maintenance range and plan to stay close to it through the holidays... 3+lbs at Thanksgiving, 1 gone already! emoticon

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Yes, indeed! 17 months!

Congrats to all who are maintaining!!!

I am a MARATHONER!!!
Tacoma City Marathon (3 May 09) - 3:49:13
... and I'm BOSTON BOUND!!!!
Capital City Marathon (16 May 10) - 3:36:52

...and instead of running Boston, I had a kid! And then 2.5 years later I had another one.
BUT, I've never stopped running or racing!

One of these days, I'll re-qualify for Boston. And tackle Goofy's Race and a Half. Maybe an ultra. Or a half Ironman...

Maintaining, healthily pregnant, or healthily breastfeeding since

I am at the very top of my range. I actually bought a new scale and it weighs different then my old fashioned one by over five pounds. I changed my ticker to reflect my readings from my new scale. Sigh.... My clothes are still fitting pretty good though. I plan to be at the bottom of my range before Christmas!
