Hello everyone! I'm new here. Just hit my goal weight today!

I changed my ticker to add another 3 lb loss. I'd like to stay in the 110-115 range if possible, but 115 has been my goal from the start.

Calorie intake hasn't changed since I changed my goals for the extra 3lbs. I'm working on becoming a runner! I signed up for my first 5K on Nov 21, so that's my new cardio. I'm trying to run 3 days a week on non-consecutive days, with the ultimate goal of simply improving my distance and speed.

STARTING WEIGHT (7/19/2009) - 131lbs
GOAL MET (10/26/2009) - 115lbs!
2nd GOAL MET - (11/09/2009) 112lbs!

Now in Maintenance!

For some reason, I think when we think of eating "more" it usually means "more crap" and that can be scary for someone who has been contentiously watching what they eat and making healthy choices for some time. It doesn't have to be crap, you can boost your intake of quality, healthy foods too!

Thanks for really good tips! Those sound more do-able than just eating more. I find if I start feeling like "I can eat anything; I've got to increase calories" I go to excess very quickly. Small changes ... just like when I started SparkPeople! I think I was trying to make too big changes too quickly. Another day to live and learn!!!

Susie, one way to boost the calories, but not add more empty ones is to go for higher calorie versions of the food you eat now. Meaning, if you are using skim milk go for 1% or 2% instead. (same for any dairy product, yogurt, cheese etc)

I find adding a handful of nuts or nut butter adds some healthy calories easily. I just have to be careful to portion them out, or I go a little crazy on those. One of my favorite snacks is fruit and nuts.

If you use "fake" sugar go for the real thing (not too much, but it will add some calories back in, without adding more food). Same as the dairy advice above, if your usual yogurt is made with splenda, go for one that is made w/ regular sweetener instead (or just go w/ plain lowfat or full fat yogurt, and add some fresh fruit.)

I think if you can find a way to add just 100 calories to your breakfast, lunch and dinner, you will level off. Good luck!

My original goal weight was 145, but I kept losing so I changed it to 140, then I went under 140 so I changed my goal to 135. I seem now to bounce around a bit from 135 to 138. I would like to stay in this range, and hope I can maintain as long as many of you have. I still feel tenuous at this weight.

Kayotic -- thanks for the encouragement. I'm feeling great; my problem is adding calories -- I've worked hard to stop eating when I'm full and now feel overful if I keep eating. Could always be tempted with junk/sweets -- but that would go against all I've learned. so how do I get the calories up to 2000? I'm barely getting them up to 1450.

If you are still feeling good at 5.5 lbs below your goal, then I wouldn't worry. If you're feeling weak/tired, or are really unhappy where you are now, you can try upping your calories a couple hundred per day, give it a week or 2 and see how that works.

I found after I increased my calories I dropped weight faster than I had when I was trying to lose, and think I was undereating during weight loss for my activity level/body composition. I ended up around the 2000 calorie range before I leveled off, and that was about 400-500 calories over the Spark suggested range even w/ an accurate calorie burn entered into the equation. You have to see what will work for you and your body/circumstances. While the Spark guidelines are a great starting point, don't be afraid to tweak them to fit your individual needs.

Happy Maintaining!

Hi all,
In several weeks I will celebrate 6 years on my journey.. Have been successfully on maintenance since week 9 in 2007.
I used to be scared of weight training, but body building has taken more cms off my hips and I have curves where I should. I am now fitting a european 36...

Hi all!

I am actually 1/2 pound under current weight but waiting till tomorrow to update the ticker. My goal was my happy weight at 110 and then if I could get to 105=108 I would be pretty thrilled. Will see where I go.

Right now, I am looking to getting my abs and arms toned up more and maintaining into the winter months.

Well, after 2 days of celebration (wine + chocolate, yum), I bravely hopped on the scale this morning and found I'm actually down a few lbs to 130.5. This sometimes happens when I eat more calories than usual. It is too funny. I did get in a really good run yesterday, too.

Big sigh of relief to start my day!

We'll see where I am for the official weigh-in on Thursday, but I am indeed maintaining :)

I don't have a special balance ball chair, I do use my swiss ball at home when I'm on my laptop though (like right now!) I like just sitting on the ball while working on my computer, it does keep my in balance mode!

Lost 3/4 lb last week -- keep trying to stabilize, but still going down. I'm going to be in the 140s before I know it. Not sure I want to -- but I sure do enjoy these size 10 jeans!

Ordered a gaiam balance ball chair for use at the computer ... might come tomorrow. Can't wait. The ball itself it a little low, but sitting on the ball is sure more comfortable than the chair we have here. And the balance/stability/strenght for my core muscles is a nice bonus! Anyone already have one?

Yes indeed! Fifteen months! Although I'm still weighing in at the higher end of my range more often than I'd like. Perhaps that's not a bad thing... it might keep me more honest as all of these fall and winter holidays arrive. =D

I am a MARATHONER!!!
Tacoma City Marathon (3 May 09) - 3:49:13
... and I'm BOSTON BOUND!!!!
Capital City Marathon (16 May 10) - 3:36:52

...and instead of running Boston, I had a kid! And then 2.5 years later I had another one.
BUT, I've never stopped running or racing!

One of these days, I'll re-qualify for Boston. And tackle Goofy's Race and a Half. Maybe an ultra. Or a half Ironman...

I had been holding my weight down (within range)pretty much until Oct. came in.

I gained 3 lbs. so now I have to hussle to work it back off. I went for a few Indulges and couldn't stop myself.

I still have been Exercising. seems like my will to track threw me way off.

I do have a few personal issues going on, so Stress plays a big part. Today is a new day so far I'm on track with my nutrition and exercising.

I am a couple of pounds over the maintenance weight that I had been maintaining since early 2005 but still within my "ok" range - this year the pounds I gained in May will not go away! My eating is 90% ok but exercise during the week is suffering due to work demands and I am not sure that the circumstances will change for the new few months. What troubles me is that I used to feel the "need" to fit in exercise "no matter what" but I have lost that drive -- hmmmm....

my first "official" weigh in for October and I'm .2 lbs above my range, so need to kick it back into gear, and stop snacking at night, that worked in August and Sept, to get into my range again.

Also, getting in a workout today, after I hit the store to look for some new trail runners, mine are worn out!

My goals was always to be in my healthy weight range which I reached last spring. I have lost a few more pounds and now my BMI is 24 most days sometimes just under or just over and I am still thinking about losing but I am waffling. I just started truly telling myself I am maintaining. I am a little scared of the thought shift.
For damotivation I have lost about 120 pounds and I am cold all the time. I have attributed it to my thyroid function and I am sure that contributed but I think a lot of it is just less insulation.

Congrats to all the long-term maintainers in the group! You give me inspiration and courage. I've been holding steady since mid August.

Other than feeling way more cold and having too few sweaters that fit (brrr... must be the loss of all that extra body fat) as the weather changes, I'm enjoying every single minute of the accomplishment.

After 2 years, I have finally found what works to be able to keep the plan, splurge, be back on plan, and get within lee-way within a couple weeks, and continue the routine......since just staying the same doesn't work.
Now I can quit stressing every week!

Over the past week or so (thus, my late Septmeber post!), I've had person after person tell me I look good and that I look like I've lost weight.

I haven't. I've been working out, toning up, and so on... so, despite my weight, I'm AT GOAL! Next month, November, marks THREE YEARS!!

emoticon emoticon

... however, in 12 days I'm going in for a high tibeal osteotomy. I will be on crutches for up to 12 weeks. I will be non-weight bearing on my right leg for 6 weeks. This is going to be difficult and I'll see how I do.

But this time next year, I should be healthier and more active than I am now!

Weighed in yesterday about in the middle of my goal range. I think I can stay in range this month, and hope to get closer to the bottom of it.

highest weight ever:202, SP starting weight: 143

New goal: more practical new goal, 129, update ticker to reflect that goal.

How about having a fun "Staying at goal and maintaining" party during each month, right here, on this thread.
A NEW thread will start at the beginning of each month.

If you're within your maintenance range, WONDERFUL!
Celebrate it!

If not, ABSOLUTELY GREAT, because you cought it just in time! NOW! in OCTOBER 2009.
Evaluate what caused you to slip, the situation, and where it might have occured.
See that you can learn from your slip.

REMEMBER!!!
Slips should teach you, not defeat you!

Forgive! Forget! and Move on!

========================================

Important note!

If you're within any goals that you've set up for yourself for maintenance, it's time for a party!
