Had a great ST workout yesterday which led to a major aching body today. That's a good thing. The not so good thing is that we had 17 people including 6 kids at the house today which equaled lots of food and major stress for me which led to grazing all day.

My son had bought us a fire pit last week and though it wasn't even 40 out, the guys were all out trying it out tonight. They went through a bag of marshmallows, and didn't even touch the rest of the s'mores ingredients. At least I stayed out of the marshmallows. They all had fun.

So I did some backsliding today. This week we won't have anybody around so I expect to get myself under control. I plan on a good day tomorrow and I've cut off food intake from 5:30 on tonight.

I hope you all are having a very decent weekend!

Today was great I finished 90" of cardio, and just got back from a walk outside.

My CICO (calories in & out) are working out for another pound gone.

Thanks for all your support and friendship, I could not have done it without you.

Stress eating at night last night after a long wait for answers to a breast lump scare. Finally got diagnosed with dense breast tissue, and am relieved, but all the stress culminated in a binge. 1000 extra calories. My weight is stable, but still, binges are the bane of my existence. I really am trying to break myself of this.

Last night was NOT pretty. It was such a stressful day...fourteen hours of commute, work, work, work, offsite, work, commute, shop for groceries, finish commute. Not a minute to catch my breath. So glad it's Friday!

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm not backsliding but am 3 pounds above goal. I've changed to a Vegan food plan and haven't taken the time to really figure out the calories in the meals I'm preparing. While I'm eating very healthy, calories are calories and don't want to put weight back on. All part of the transition! Have a great day, Pat

Yesterday was just a "too much" day. Had too much at a meeting, had WAY too much at dinner (even though I boxed and brought 1/2 my portion home) and did NOT do too much exercise.

That was yesterday--today, I did an hour at the gym, ate a yogurt and 2 pieces of fruit and will have a healthy lunch. I want to get to goal in Feb since I didn't make it in Jan. (Did hit it in Dec but then it got away again.)

I've been taking the time to do the math CICO (calories in - calories out)

DIFFERENTIAL: -62.75 fat gone (by the hair of my chin)

Yesterday was cut close, I wanted another brownie but knew it would put me over so I controlled myself; it was HARD the voice in my head was loader then the TV. We are eating out again today and for some reason, throughout the day, that makes me hungrier. I know it just not hidden sugar and sodium but a free-for-all button that gets turned on I will need to train. Welcome to SP emoticon

Sooo tired yesterday. Had to force myself to get dressed and go to yoga, but I'm glad I did, because the class both energized me and centered me. I think I was having a delayed reaction to last week's awful work stress.

Thanks Dianne! I needed your input of thinking maybe a break from her MIL might be appreciated. We are close, she even wanted me in the changing room while she tried on maternity clothes with a 20 week belly. I just think I'd be rude to run off on her!

I would ask her but I'm guessing she might like a bit of a breather from spending all her time with her MIL! You can likely still go to the gym--maybe get her a day pass and let 2yo visit the child care and play with someone? Or put on some music and dance with the little one? Just depends how silly/crazy you want to be!

I'm trying to figure out how to get some exercise in while I'm entertaining for a month. My son goes to the college to work on his dissertation while his wife and 2yo stay home with me. I feel like I have to keep her company. We're without a car for another day and then when we get the car back from the shop, maybe we will go to the mall to walk every day. We don't have a stroller, so it will be a very slow walk. What good is that?

Hey Dianne!
It sounds like you're on the right track. Insure you're eating the good calories and as little processed foods as possible. The bad stuff will kill good nutrition. Doing your water is huge as it's a natural flushing system. I would also set a "fixed" time to your cardio, insuring a healthy heart rate. (20-30 min minimum) I see a lot of people out there "walking" too casually, not realizing a proper "burn rate." Your dining out strategy is spot on. DSSECRETS & I always try to share a meal as well. If we don't, we follow suit, and bring home another meal. Stay strong, focused, and be well!

I'm still trying to lose some weight (the stuff I HAD lost but found over Christmas--didn't get to the gym as often as usual either) and then I need to maintain. Since I get stuck on a plateau fairly easily, I am hoping to just keep doing what I have been doing. That means 3-4 classes at the gym and some walking/running every day. When we eat out, 1/2 the meal comes home--boxed right away. So I expect the stay with my weight loss regimen but grab an extra bite here and there.

Does that sound like it will work?

Smoothies full of veggies have helped control my mindless eating. I fill up on smoothies right before dinner; last night, for 150 calories, it was 3 cups of water, celery, tomato, green pepper, apple then added flavor with dry Kool-Aid.

just read on SP to try 1tb. of dry sugar-free pudding for flavoring

I know I can't pronounce all the ingredients in the Kool-Aid or pudding so I will need to find other ways to flavor but for now this is helping.

We do know how to neutralized the damage of going slightly beyond our daily intake. In fact, I'm in damage control today. Because of that, we still stay in our safe range and continue in our maintaining state. I defy anyone to tell me I deprive myself because I eat healthy. It's all about portion control...sometime a lil' bite more!

Monty,
Thanks for the Stay strong, train well, and run with the wind!

I am back to my daily 60" of cardio on my Bowflex Treadclimber and counting veggies/fruit aiming for 10 daily serving.
this has been working for me and leaving no room for cake or late night eating.

My nutrition is the area I will need to change as I get older. I enjoy food to much and will need to tweak the input so the output formula works.

happy wind with the wind,

When I started learning how to run after I walk/jogged a 5K, I trained bad in the nutrition area. I didn't eat enough. I ended up running 2 5Ks with pneumonia, and caused havoc to my immune system. After that 2nd 5K, I went to the emergency room then won a 5 day stay in the hospital. I've been very good on my training nutrition and eat all kinds of food rebuilding my system back. I'm waiting for my doctor to give me a thumbs up on a Marathon one of these days. That's why I'm emphatic about other runners becoming educated on fuel properly. Do NOT take all the out-of-date tales as gospel. See a doctor and a nutritionist before you start. I'm fortunate to have runners as both. Stay strong, train well, and run with the wind!

Today I feel good and have been changing up my exercises with planks, triceps dips, and lunges. Cardio is done daily on my treadclimber so 45" should round up my day nicely.

My original goal weight came about because i was trying to lower my BMI. I started at 35, ended between 22.1 and 22.4. The weight I hit was 170. The day I hit it, I was 169.8. Since then I've run a lot. "I am a runner!" My muscles started taking on definition not bulky when I played linebacker when I was in college. I lost a lot of body fat. Today, lots of runners have said I have a runner's physique, even a "marathon" body. (I've been advised by my doctor to stay with Halfs) I still am trying to get used to hearing that. My weight runs from 162-165 now. I've very happy with this cargo when I'm in flight at races! I've been successfully maintaining since May 16, 2011. I'm blessed to say I have no issues physically, mentally, or spiritually affecting my maintaining. I'm totally in the healthy lifestyle for me, my wife, and my granddaughter.

Lost two pounds! I was only trying to maintain. But since I've not had a binge for two weeks, which I usually have once a week, I am helping myself along. I'll never refuse a weight loss!

This motivates me to continue with the monetary reward system!

I was doing so so well, but at least I got another learning experience. I run a lot, so if I'm trying to lose a few pounds and some body fat, a great strategy is to limit what I eat after a long run. If I were to run 20 miles, that's 2000 calories and in order to get by and not feel like I'm starving, I might eat 1800 calories, which at the end of the day leaves me with a huge calorie deficit. If I run 10 miles the next day (1000 calories) and eat 1500 calories, I'm again continuing a deficit. By the third day I can't do it because I'll run out of fuel and won't be able to finish my run (regardless of how long), but then by about day 5 there's going to be a little bit more visible leanness and a fraction gone off the scale. I can eat 1200-1400 calories a day for six weeks and only lose weight on that 6th week, so I like doing it this way. Plus because I'm running long so frequently, it really isn't possible to eat all the extra calories unless you're eating fast food or something. Anyway, long story short, I'm standing on the scales every morning, feeling a little lighter, seeing a more defined waistline and waiting for my magic number to be a little lower, and then we had a food day at work. With continued motivation to eat healthily I hit the store, spotted my all time favorite cake (pineapple upside down) and couldn't see much else so I bought it. I figured I'd just have a small piece and that'd be it. 5 pieces later (as I also took the remaining home with me)...and McDonalds the day after that...wham bam thank you mam my weight is higher than it was. The other stinky part is that I have an ultra in two weeks, so no more runs over 12 miles, so I have to suck it up and eat less calories.... or at least attempt to emoticon

It's nearing two months since I gave up my 15 year + addiction to soda and caffeine, and just as diet coke is on my 'you can't have any because you can't have just one' list, pineapple upside down cake is on there also. I need to be a little smarter, and not expect my motivation at the time to help me make smart eating decisions. Does anyone else do dumb stuff like that?

Maintaining is going well at this point. My "dollar system" is serving me well in motivating me to get exercise each day but usually my most recent struggle was to with having binges. By giving myself a dollar a day each day I keep within calorie range, I have avoided binges for 13 days in a row. I also get a dollar for each workout i do. If I have two in a day, that's $2. I am very motivated by money. I'm sure that doesn't work for some but I thrive on it. I am tempted to get a heart rate monitor, to have more accuracy in my workout calorie counts. So that's what I'm saving for. But then, what I'm doing with my exercise is working for me, so maybe it would be a waste for me. It would just get me obsessing about number, which I'm prone to do. I'm always planning trips, so I could save it as spending money for when I get to go next time. I also could save for clothes. Or craft supplies, which I love.

Happy Birthday Karen! It's also my 28 year old daughter's birthday today!

I don't remember if I told anybody or not but I'm waiting for a diagnostic mammogram next week. I have a lump and had been obsessing about it, but I decided to stop listening to the negative thoughts Satan was feeding me and have been at peace about it since then. I've had a much better day and a better sleep last night because of this.

Lost a half pound over the last week. I'll take that!

I have been backsliding for months and gained 14 pounds of the 26 I lost.
Today I'm here with new resolve to release those 14 pounds, get to goal, and stay there for good! I'm hoping that reaching out to this amazingly inspiration group will help give me an extra push in the right direction!

Hi Everybody, I've been sitting at 120/121 for a couple of weeks ago and already I'm much more lean in my midsection (only down a couple of pounds) - it really shows when you're short. I measured my BF% yesterday and it's 18.1%. One thing I've been doing well with lately is toning exercises with some resistance bands I got for Christmas. Because I do zero weights or toning, my body responds pretty quickly to it.

Hopefully everyone is having a nice week, it's awfully cold in Kansas right now.

Hi Everybody, welcome Ann!

I need to come on here more often, it helps me to stay focussed.

I'm working on really cutting the calories right now and keeping my mileage high, I can only do that for two days in a row before it impacts my ability to finish a run, but when I do it really zaps the scale and shows on my BF analyzer. This is day two so by tomorrow I can up the calories a bit - good news because right now I'm hungry.

I look 'ok' as is, but much more toned and fit when my body fat is down a few more percent and I feel so much better. Heading out to Texas next month to pace my friend through the last 40 miles of her first 100 miler, so I didn't have a chance to slack off at all over Christmas.

emoticon Hi, Ann! I hope 2013 is YOUR year!

So glad to be back to routine after holidays and travel. Even if the scale doesn't look much different, my waist band says otherwise.
