Funny thing has happened. Sometimes when I am sticking with my "meat, vegs, fruit" meals, I get hungry sooner...3 or 4 hours later. But when I eat meat and a starch (steak and potatoes), I may not be hungry later but I am sooo sleepy! If i have cake and ice cream (fat and sugar), I want more sweets in about 6 hours! So I find that if i stick with meat and vegs (being good...), then have cheese or fruit later ( good fat or glucose), it keeps me satisfied while staying on track... oh, it only took me 3 years to figure this out....listen to your body!
Skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Crystle Lite in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
That's the ticket! I began to see changes in my appetite when I was eating too many packaged food snacks instead of fresh fruit, veggies, and healthy fats. Those processed foods weren't nutritious and weren't keeping me full. I'm starting (again) to make sure that I have fresh snacks readily available when hunger strikes!
That's an important lesson! After you've indulged, get back on program before your weight goes out of control again! I can't tell you how many times I've "started over". I learned to forgive myself for indulging and get right back to being healthy, and I have maintained for 5 years.
I spent a couple weeks drinking more wine than I'd like to, eating more chocolate that I'd like to and snacking on non-healthy foods, and because of this I started feeling lethargic and really moody. So I've been eating WAY more greens, fruits and protein this past week and I feel great again! I think the biggest thing is listening to your body's needs and my body was telling me: Quit it right now! Haha.
