Thanks for the advice guys!

ENUTRITION - I am so glad you posted about the muscle fiber tearing and retaining water. I always notice a weight gain when beginning or increasing a workout then a drop later. I never knew why and now I do. Thanks!

Great job dropping the baby weight so quickly! Your goal to lose the 3-5 extra pounds in 5 weeks is very doable. I agree with previous posts that more strength training will be beneficial, but want to give you a little warning. Expect an initial weight gain if you do not currently lift. As you build muscle, the muscle fiber tears and retains water as part of the process. If you are "obsessive" about weighing yourself daily, this water can cause "false" signs of weight gain. Also, as you build muscle your weight will increase since muscle weighs more than fat. As long as the number doesn't bother you, the problem areas should be in the shape you desire! Have a great time!

I'll second the strength training suggestion!

Muscle on your shoulders will help visually balance a larger bottom half (you will not get huge, especially in five weeks, just attractively toned). I'm speaking from experience here, also being a more of a pear by nature than anything else, sigh.

Overall, moving past the bikini (and why NOT enjoy looking great???) strength training will help your metabolism to add muscle to balance out all that cardio, which will help you with maintenance. Plus, strength training is a blast :)

I would recommend getting some strength training in or some pilates/yoga type exercises in addition to the cardio. In 5 weeks you could see a change in the amount of definition in your abs/arms/legs if you do it consistently several times a week.

I agree that I should not care what people think. I just had a baby 10 months ago so I think I look pretty good. But, I am going with some friends and everyone analizes each other. I want to feel HOT! It's kind of vain but I worked hard for it!

That does sound acheivable and doable in that time, Momto4 gives good advice on the diet, eat really cleanly, and you should see good results, but also, just try to enjoy the beach! Who cares if there is a "thin layer of fat" on your stomach, lots of others have that too (or more), and still can enjoy themselves!

I would say it is possible to see results in 5 weeks. I would continue with the cardio 5/6 days a week and really watch your diet. Eat enough calories, but make sure they are good calories. That should cut down on the fat. I will be taking my own advise this month. Good luck!

In 35 days I am going to be on the beach… Yea!

OH NO! emoticon

I’m at my goal weight but want to lose around 3-5lbs of fat and gain some muscle! My trouble areas are my thighs and I also have a thin layer of fat on my stomach that I did not have before the baby. Is it possible to get this in shape in 5 weeks!? I am currently doing a half hour to hour of cardio 5 times a week and lots of squats.

Any suggestions?
