Hello: My current weight was 183 (up 5-7 lbs) at the beginning of last week! So, now its almost Sunday and I've been in the middle of what I call a "lock-down"!!.....I have been doing 2 a days all week and won't get on the scale until this Monday night. In my case, I know that some of my weight gain is actually muscle but I am going to nip it in the bud!
My blood pressure is also a little high for me (145/85)......I'll report in after my weigh in on Monday.......So long til then.....swalerroe7

Good for you, Claudia. Glad you picked a handsome trainer! I wish you much success.

I'm still in my maintenance range of 115-120. I am 115.4 this morning! emoticon

No, I'm below goal and still losing weight. I'm trying to increase my carbs a little (diabetic) and adding some nuts because I'm not getting enough protein.

I'm happy to announce that I've had my first personal weight training session. After declaring it as a "trouble goal" in my signature, I put it off for 5 weeks until I got sick of this and booked a training session. It felt good, and the guy turned out to be the type that understands back and neck problems and said I performed better than I said I could. I had to pretend because he was young and handsome. Have homework to do until next session, will do weights every second day. Treadmill continues suspended until DH recovers to do at least 1/4 of the work. Tomorrow is my weigh in day and I'm shaking, had a bit of a problem with melting moments today, visitors for convalescing DH mean cakes around, and I like them!

I am still in range...had a bit of a blip upwards last weekend, but managed to get back to healthy eating since Monday. I'll see what the scale says on Saturday AM. I only weigh myself once a week. (cautiously optimistic)

Well, hit 185 on Thursday morning after playing racquetball on Wednesday night (so I'm sure part of it was water weight), and then proceeded to pig out on Thursday thru Sunday, eating all kinds of munchies (Doritos, Cheetos) and desserts. I did jog 4 miles on Saturday and Monday, and did 3 miles on the elliptical on Sunday to help offset it (although the scale was showing 191 Monday morning. Got back on track eating wise on Monday, and was back to 188 today, so hopefully I halted the insanity before it got too out of control.

Even though I have had some "bad" weekends, I have been able to keep myself in check with the help of my nutrition tracker.. so I tend to go up a couple pounds over the weekend, but it melts off by about Wednesday :) So I am pretty much staying between 103 and 108, with my goal being 105. So I am happy, happy, happy! All I need to do now is get better at working out, so I have a TIGHT body and not just a small one.

Well I weighed myself today and lost 3.5 pounds in spite of no exercise but having been on a diet for food poisoning last saturday. I was nervous because I can't do exercise too busy with DH recovering from surgery and the cattery. I feel very relieved, I haven't been in this weight for 35 years and that was when I was taking dieting pills. 9 pounds below my goal weight of 167.

Claudia - great news about your dh. I hope your nerves have had time to settle and that you're feeling more at peace today! Cereals are definitely comfort foods - healthy ones, but you sure gotta watch the portions! While I was in the US last, I discovered the Kashi brand - yum! I even brought a box back to Germany with me :)

I peeked at the scale this morning (Monday is my normal weigh-in day) and my extra poundage seem to be gone - still at the top of maintenance range, though, and I'd like to be closer to the bottom. So I'm planning and tracking my meals again, back to the basics.

Blessings, Michelle

My weight has crept up a bit above maintenance range but I'm not going to change my ticker just yet. I've been getting in LOTS of cardio in prep for a race on May 31st, and I'm just hungrier! But I have overdone it a bit. One problem is that the healthy homemade granola bars I've been making are TOO GOOD!

Have already lost one of the pounds and hope to be back to fighting weight by Monday.

Blessings, Michelle

Here's a little story I want to share with you folks....

ONLY ONE POUND

Hello, do you know me?
If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat,
And I'm the HAPPIEST pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.
Want to know why?
It's because no one ever wants to lose me;
I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!
Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.
So I just stick around and happily keep you fat.
Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it.
That is, until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.
Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.
So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound."
For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.
And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.
Happy Days!!!
After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

Claudia,
Positive Healthy thoughts your way for YOU & DH....I have learned in my journey that not only do we need to eat healthy & properly & exercise, we also NEED the proper amount of rest for our precious bodies....I hope you are able to get the rest you need to tackle your days....Our bodies get along for awhile but then they get run down & our weight loss/maintenance
becomes compromised...

Mimi,
I have learned that more cardio exercise & a bit of reduction in caloric intake is helpful...Keeping in mind that a 5-lb range to goal, be it low-end or high-end, is a healthy maintenance goal...We must ALWAYS be aware of our wt. to keep abreast of any excessive losses or gains...I fluctuate from 123 to 127 most weeks...Occasionally I will go as high as 128.8. Still w/in my goal of 125 but I must continuously keep track of food consumption-what I ate more of throughout the past few days-cut back-eat more fruits/veggies etc.. As you well know, this is a LIFELONG journey which is basically no different than "everyday" living...Hope this helps....

Peace,
Betsy

I'm working this month on losing 1-2 pounds.
Still in my goal range, but I rather be in the middle or low range instead of the high one.

It's much harder for me to lose 1-2 pounds on maintenance.
Do you experience the same?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thank you

Mimi

Haven't been able to post because DH had liver surgery today , all is well and lump was benign. Food fine and only unable to motivate other people. Weighed today and lost a pound in spite of various dinners out pre surgery to make the most of it before hospital food.
Tracking food, no time for exercise, but cleaning the cattery should keep me going. Lower end of maintenance range.

Hello Everyone!
I have been maintaining for 4 months now & am HAPPY to say that I have fluctuated w/in the 5-lb range of my goal weight while never exceeding 3+ lbs. I am still struggling through an actual routine as I lost 35 lbs doing a 12 week challenge with Jillian Michaels' book Winning By Losing & it was very structured on a daily basis...I know I don't need to bust my buttocks like I did when losing but DO SO NEED to get a good exercise routine going & up my cardio too..Slacker is what I have become! Looking forward to getting to know you all better...
Make it a wonderful evening...

Peace....

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a Happy Mother's Day.
I just went to my monthly meeting today and found I am below my original goal of 120. For my tracker to show it, I had to lower my goal to 118. I am at 118.4. That was great news this month. I lost 4.2 pounds since April 14. I need to bump it up a tad so I don't lose too much. I'd like 118 to be my lowest. We'll see what happens. emoticon I weigh less now than on my wedding day 32 yrs. ago when I was 120.

emoticon for me too! It's been 2 years this month of maintaining, and although it hasn't always been pretty (sometimes pretty sad w/ the eating frenzy!) I have been really doing well these past few months, especially since November, when I really got it down, and have been pretty much in my range since then. It feels good to say I am at goal and maintaining, and staying that way for good!

I weighed on Sunday and was happy to see I'm back in my "range". It's still on the high side, but it isn't over any more. I still find it difficult to get in the few extra calories I need to maintain, so I'm trying to remember to have an extra glass of milk to see if that will get me to where I need to be. We'll see.

I'm like Windsurfnerd, where I'm hanging on by a fingernail... but my clothing fits as well as ever! Nonetheless, I'm taking the bull by the horn and taking care of myself and my eating. I refuse to cry over gaining weight and I refuse to feel sorry for myself. It's much easier to do the best I can and get it moving again!

But I consider myself at goal anyway. :D

I'm hanging onto maintenance by a fingernail! I'm in my "range", but i've had issues keeping up my exercise program, eating too much "good stuff" and my clothes feel a bit tight. time to get back to it...

Personally I think there is such a thing as exercising too much. I know of a couple times when I did the circuit, treadmill, yoga and elliptical all in one day at the Y and I got really dizzy and about 1/2 sick. :( I didn't realize it was that and the next time I did it the same thing happened and I got a migraine too. Yikes! Yep, I was well hydrated too. I sure don't do that much anymore!

I am in the same place as you, I put on a few pounds and I'm going to back to the Spark basics, going through the SparkDiet stage 2 again to re-learn portion control, etc. Good work jumping back into it!

I have a question for anyone out there reading this: Do you think there is such a thing as exercising too much?

There are two kinds of people, those that take the stairs and those that take the elevator. I will always strive to take the stairs!

I'm trying to stay in my range. I've been on the high side since reaching goal just a little over a month ago.

I've been absent from the gym for a while too, so it's no surprise that I gained some. My daily routine was disrupted for about 3 weeks and I had a hard time working in gym time...well, I pretty much didn't try hard enough to get it done. But May will be different. I've gone back to the Spark Basics and taking baby steps once again.

I'm on the higher range of my goal so I'm working on lowering it at least to the middle range.

Yes ma'am, I am! Let's call this one year and one month!

AND I'm back down in the middle of my range instead of at the high end this month!

one month on maintenance! I basically watched myself go up and down 2 pounds which was fine by me. emoticon

7 Months tomorrow for me! And I reached 100 days in my exercise streak on April 30. I agree, Mimi --- any excuse for a party!
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

But I'm still at the top of my maintenance range and I'd like to get back down to the bottom.

I've been really hungry lately! Not sure how to explain it except that I'm running more often than walking these days, in preparation for a race on the 31st - my first road race in over 30 years.

The result is that I'm eating more in the evening and sabotaging my calorie counts. I think I may need to eat a heartier breakfast and maybe get more protein than I have been.

LOL @ BEEJAY'S arguments with the chocolate chip cookies - would love to hear that dialogue! :)

Claudia, your new photo is beeeooootiful!

I'm up for a emoticon ! God knows we've worked hard to get here and sure deserve it! :) I've had arguments the past few days with the chocolate chip cookies because hubby got stuck on evening shift and I'm a boredom eater. :( This is a new week though and the cookies have got to go, but not into my tummy! LOL! With that said, I gained less than a pound because of them, due to the fact that I went to the gym and worked them off. :)

This week in spite of the big nights out celebrating my birthday, I lost another pound. Can't believe it. All I did was be a bit careful the rest of the week and only got to the treadmill 3 times and it happened.
My selected "trouble goal" of starting weight training and back Alexander Technique exercises this week wasn't achieved, it's not called "trouble goal" for nothing. Will endeavour to do it this coming week.
Having trouble with the ticker, wanted to put my maint range between 75 and 77kg but I'm 2 kg down and it won't let me put my original goal of 76. There should be a ticker for maintaining or loosing beyond your goal.
Off to read the paper in the sun, lovely autumn day.

Claudia

Pounds originally lost 29. Maintain weight between 73Kg (161lb) and 75Kg (167lb): ongoing.
My current goal is 75kg (167lb)

Cardio 5 times a week; Pilates once a week.
Mindfulness meditation 6 times a week at least.

I really needed this thread. I've had some slips this past couple of weeks. So, I'm working at getting back on track. I had just gotten sloppy and need to get serious again. With work, I haven't been able to track on Spark, but with Spark on my cellphone I think I'll be getting back into tracking. Also keeping track of cardio will help. I'll get back.

Great idea!...Its real difficult to achieve your goals. After investing time and a lot of money (personal trainers, equipment, etc. ) , I have to maintain. I can't even watch tv without feeling guilty or picking up weights. I'd like to lose 5- 8 lbs this month , but I'll settle for not gaining at all!. My declared weight is listed as 176 but this week I'm really 180 . Its not easy keeping it off, I don't care who you are!.......See ya........at the party!!!

How about having a fun "Staying at goal and maintaining" party during each month, right here, on this thread.
A NEW thread will start at the beginning of each month.

If you're within your maintenance range, WONDERFUL!
Celebrate it!

If not, ABSOLUTELY GREAT, because you cought it just in time! NOW! in MAY, 2008.
Evaluate what caused you to slip, the situation, and where it might have occured.
See that you can learn from your slip.

REMEMBER!!!
Slips should teach you, not defeat you!

Forgive! Forget! and Move on!

========================================

Important note!

If you're within any goals that you've set up for yourself for maintenance, it's time for a party!
