I get e-mail from Flylady.com, and wanted to share this with you today. We are all Worthy of these 11 things. A very Merry Christmas to you all from Elayne. "Angelbeliever "

Food for Thought - 11 Worthy Things

Dear Friends,

There is an enormous underlying principle that gets neglected in a lot
of women's lives. And that is that each person reading this right now
is worthy of being loved and merits exquisite care. Each and every
woman is worthy of being comfortable in her own skin, worthy of giving
herself tender loving care and worthy of treating her own body like
the treasure it is.

We love to complain about our stretch marks, zits, spider veins and
other imperfections that seem to relentlessly grace our bodies. The
older we get, the more plentiful the imperfections. I am guilty of
reciting my long list of complaints, too. However, I am starting to
realize with every step and every breath I take, that my life is a
gift and that my body is my "transportation" for my life here on
earth. This body is what houses my soul. In the bible, the body is
referred to as a temple for the Holy Spirit.

It is worth everything I have to give the best care to the only body I
will ever have. I'm not talking plastic surgery and that kind of
thing—I'm talking about the basics: reducing stress, living a life of
gratitude, eating well, moving. I am worth more than nutritionally
negative food, a sluggish, sedentary life, and holding on to
resentment, anger and grudges that result in a cold, bitter heart. I
am worthy of loving self care and so are you.

So in that same spirit of worthiness, here are 11 things to help you
take care of every inch of yourself—you deserve the best:

1) Understanding that your life is a gift; the care you give your body
is how you show your thankfulness for that gift.

2) Recognizing that you are a child of God. You are precious in His sight.

3) Knowing that when you take care of yourself, there is room to take
care of others.

4) Taking care of yourself helps your insides match up with your outsides.

5) Moving increases endorphins, wonderful hormones that help you feel
good. A natural high!

6) One of the joys in eating real food means no more brain cramps
trying to figure out what di-sodium phosphates and other scary
additives are and what they are doing to your body.

7) Eating real food means you will no longer have to remove your
children from the ceiling with a spatchula. Your children are calmer.
(just how much fruit is in "fruity cereal" anyway and why are "sports
drinks" the color of anti-freeze and toilet bowl cleaner?)

8) Moving with music will help you not only burn calories, but help
you "shake your groove thing" and show you that you can still move
with the best of them! (turn on some Motown and see what I mean—LOL)

9) Drinking water is going to give you pretty skin. Sure, more trips
to the potty, but definitely prettier skin!

10) Not hitting the drive thru will mean more money in your pocket.
Stash some of that cash and go get a pedicure!

11) Recognizing that you are worthy of tender self care means you are
FLYing! (Finally Loving Yourself)

Love, Leanne

Friendship is a very special gift we can give to another person who we meet in our life. Imagine getting such a beautiful letter as this from a friend. What can we do to become such a friend to another person or persons?

Letter From a Friend

Dear Friend,

You are living proof that God lives and shows himself through our relationships! Thank you!!

Thank you for making my 30th special. Thank you for all the presents and time and love you continually give me. I will never forget that you came by on my 30th even though I was sick and you baked my favorite dessert.

Your friendship, support, and unconditional love bring tears to my eyes. I am so blessed to be a part of your family and so blessed that I have a best friend who loves my children and loves my husband and inspires us all. I am blessed by your marriage and the way you love each other and our Savior.

Thank you for being on the journey with me.

I love you,

Something to think about:

Is there someone in your life right now that you can write a letter to thank him or her?

Great advice, Angel. There's no need to let the holidays stress us out, they should be the time to have fun!

We also do #4 at Thanksgiving, Sarbah. We visit family in the town where I grew up, and we try to visit places that we don't normally get to see.

I love doing #4! Each year, my town has their holiday shopping nights where stores stay open later and the lights are on and all kinds of fun stuff. We go wandering through at least once... we may not buy anything, but it's just a time to do something different and a little fun.

Doing the same this year... am at my parents already for Thanksgiving, so we're going to go play tourist in Boston for a couple of days, despite the fact that we can nearly get around the city with our eyes closed. We always find time to walk through the Garden and Quincy Market, too. :)

Glad you enjoyed the quotes by Dr. Peals, Jazzy. I love reading his material.

Want to have more energy during the upcoming holidays?

Be Like and Elf!

How can you change how worn out you felt by the end of the holidays? last year? Remember those exhausted feelings? Think of how much fun the holidays were when you were a kid. What made the difference? Well, here are 6 tips to take us back to those days.

1.Be like Santa. Pretend you're filling your lungs to say "Ho, ho, ho." When you're feeling stressed, take deep breaths. Why? Because when we are feeling stressed we take more shallow breaths , and even hold our breath. What happens the is there is less oxygen entering our brain and body. This puts more stress on our system. So remember, take deep breaths and breathe easier.

2.Be like Mom. Or at least take her advice and eat breakfast. By not eating breakfast our body will try and save energy rather than producing it.

3.Be like a reindeer. What do they do? They graze. So can we. eat smaller meals more often to keep our selves on an even keel all day long. This will also help us to avoid overeating at parties. If you have a long day of errands to do or shopping, take a bag of almonds and raisins portioned out into a snack all ready to eat. Get that good extra energy.

4. Act like a tourist even in your own town. Go for walks, taking in the sights as you go. Look at all the pretty lights, notice other decorations, stop and watch children play or ice skate. You will also be exercising, which we al know relieves stress, boosts energy and lifts our mood. Exercising is as effective as medication for treating mild depression or "the holiday blues."

5. Be like the nice girl or guy you are. If you let another person get under your skin because they took the parking space you were waiting for, or take the last "it" toy on the shelf, you are only causing yourself to become stressed out and give yourself negative energy. Remember the spirit of the season and make a real sincere effort to share positive energy with others. Wait 'til you see how much different you will feel about yourself and the rest of the world.

6. Be like an elf. How does one do that? By laughing and playing games. Laughter not only lowers your blood pressure, it just plain makes you feel good!

These tips were from a magazine called Positive Thinking.

I also find music to be very calming. I try to listen to music when I am stressed, because it really does help.

I enjoyed the quotes by Norman Vincent Peale. We get so caught up in our daily routine that I think we forget to focus on what is really important in life.

Funny, just before reading this I was overcome by the need to sing a song that has been running thru my head this morning after a beautiful sunrise!

Like you, I've been neglecting my music lately, I listen to CD's at work (instrumental, or w/ singing only if I'm working on mindless work), but at home I usually just turn on the TV. I feel so much calmer and peaceful when I put the music on, I don't really know why I don't do it more often.

Thanks for the reminder!

How To Cultivate Joy

These are tips from Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, author of The Power of Positive Thinking.

* Make a list of your joys and blessings. Don't leave out things that are small or commonplace--you'd miss them if you didn't have them!
* Step outside after you finish your list and take 5 deep breaths of fresh air. Take note of every beautiful thing around you.
* Do an unexpected favor for someone. The look of happy surprise in his or her eyes will fill you with joy.
* Overcome something: a fear, jealousy, grudge or temptation. True joy does not consist of giving in but getting over.
* Sing at least one song every day. In the shower, in the car, to your kids.

Personal note: Music has always been my passion and I realized that I have for some reason stopped playing my CD's for awhile now at home for some reason. Well, that has stopped and today our home was filled with music. My DH even remarked how nice it was to hear music again!

Here is another Positive Thought for today:

" Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world."...Arthur Schopenhauer

When I was overeating, did I ever imagine that life would be any different than it was? No; there was no way out, I was sure of it. Sometimes in a dilemma, I still tend to think there's no way out. I accept that feeling, but today I know that it is only that--a feeling, not a fact. My experience tells me there is a solution and it will come in time, as I become willing to let go and let a Power outside myself take charge. Giving up control means, growing up: my experience broadens, my pleasures expand, my horizon, like God's world, is limitless.

For Today: I turn over to God the concerns of the moment, knowing that the answers will come, and with them, a new awareness and greater depth of understanding.

My BF's dad served in WWII, and he mentioned all the walking too. It was tough times back then. Tough now. I'm loving that blog post GirlinMotion. As a member currently serving, it warms my heart that some people don't think of us in a negative light.

I am very thankful to our Veterans. Our family goes to our local Veterans Club November 11 for their service.

I posted this as my blog for November 11 Veterans Day / Rememberance Day

It is the Veteran, not the preacher,
Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Veteran, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Veteran, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Veteran, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the Veteran, not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Veteran, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the veteran, who salutes the flag,
It is the veteran, who serves under the flag.

Eternal rest grant them O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.

According to the Air Force, my dad is technically a Vietnam Vet, though he doesn't view it that way (he was in the US the entire time). I was born in an Air Force hospital and my dad was in the AF until I was 7.

Hats off to your Dad, too. Dad never talks about it much. I watched the special on the PBS station a month ago on WW II, and when I saw all that my Dad went through and all the others...Yes, we all can be proud of our Heroes. Dad did tell me they rarely got a ride anywhere...they walked, and walked, and walked....I often wonder how many miles they would have tracked if possible.

Monday, November 12 already! Where is this month going?

"Reach Back With Gratitude"

If you are successful remember that somewhere. sometime, someone gave you a lift or an idea that started you in the right direction. Remember, also, that you are indebted to life until you help some less fortunate person, just as you were helped.
-----Napoleon Hill, Motivational writer

Note: What a wonderful message for this month of Thanksgiving. We also owe a lot of gratitude to our Veterans for their sacrifice so we can continue to live free. These days are very difficult, and my prayer of Thanksgiving goes up to the lord for all of those fighting around the globe, and to all of those whoa have fought in earlier battles so we may have the freedom we have today.

I want to personally thank my Dad. He was in the US ARMY and was in England, France, Germany, Ireland and Scotland in the 22 division, I believe. He said his legs are still strong today at 88 yrs. young because of all the walking he did back then! He now enjoys playing golf as often as the Pa. weather will allow him to do so. I love my Dad so much!!!! emoticon
