Hi everyone, imagine my surprise when I was told that Bruno was the star of the week here. His cheeky picture is the teams pic this week as well.
In 2005 my previous dog Tramp came down with steroid induced acute diabetes. At the time we didn't have the money to spend on prolonged vet treatment and wasn't assured by the vet that it would have succeeded, so we unfortunately had to put him to sleep. To say we were devastated would be an understatement. Over the next couple of weeks the little things we missed like a head resting in our hands or a belly needing a rub kept us grieving.
Our vet wanted to know if we'd consider taking a dog that had been rescued and needed a home. We weren't sure if we could take a dog so soon, but said yes. Well the day came for us to pick him up we were unsure about how he was going to act and how he'd fit in at home. The nurse came through the door with Bruno on a lead, I swear he was smiling, he had, for a dog, the most happiest of faces and he didn't walk out he pranced!!
The first thing I did is offer him a liver chip and asked him to sit, this was the first of many commands he learnt happily. That night, when I hung my hand over the chair arm, I felt this furry face come and rest in my hand. Our house was complete again.
He's a Lhasa Apso/Shi tzu and he is one of the most attractive dogs I've ever seen, he's smart, fun to have around and is great with people and has a perfect temperament.
Even though we have 3 dogs Bruno remains the one that helped heal our broken hearts and he will always be the number one dog.
Thanks for picking him for the star this week, he's always been a star to me.
