I am trying to find any new ideas of how you might go about finding a lost dog.
Brief history, Maddie and I were on a walk last Thursday (5/3) in the park that is 1 block from our house. It was 9:30am, only 2 ladies in the park jogging together. Maddie was not on a leash but she has never ever ran away or gotten more than 12 feet from me and POW she just darted off. I tried to run after her but she got into some trees half way across the park (about a block long) and when I got up there she was gone.
She is tagged, microchipped. I have been walking and handing out fliers. We have HUGE neon pink Lost posters we are making all over our side of town. I have an ad in the newspaper, on craigslist, facebook, 2 local lost dog sites. We have called into the only station in town (oldies) that will mention lost/found dogs. I (or a friend of mine) have been to the shelter everyday to check as well and logging on about once an hour to their site for animal control. I've been to all the local vets, pet food stores and groomers.
Any other ideas I am missing besides selling my car to pay for radio advertisements? I am desperate.
Maddie has hip dysplasia and bad knees on top of her separation anxiety which causes her to freak out and destroy things when left alone. If someone took her she would freak. She would dig her way out of a yard and whine constantly.
Do people really steal other people's dogs? If so, if someone took her and went to a vet to register her as theirs would they scan her first? Or can they put someone else's information into her chip over mine?
I'm so tired and feel like I am loosing my mind. I have taken off work the past week besides about 10 hours of busy time and couldn't miss.
Any thoughts are awesome, thanks for reading my too long post.
