MuffinTop, we seem to be our own worst enemies. I too, get mad at myself easily, as I am a perfectionist and I want to do everything right the first time. However, I also can think realistically. I did not get the way I am overnight; therefore, I won't change all of my bad habits overnight. Perhaps you are putting too much on yourself at once. I like dogtraining and one thing I've learned through that activity is that if my dog doesn't get it the first time...I'm not gonna give up on her. I might have to move back to a level that she understands and perfect that and then reintroduce her to what I am trying to get her to learn. Generally, she is readier for it the second time around.
Perhaps, you should try downsizing your goals into babysteps. Instead of saying you're gonna cut out all sugar perhaps Wk 1 you could be aware of the sugars that enter your body. Wk 2 you could cut out sugar 2 days and allow yourself sugar 5 days. Wk 3 allow yourself sugar 3 days. You get the picture. Take baby steps instead of trying to throw everything out the window all at once. You can do it!

Wow , you guys are awesome. So much support from all of you . Thank you so much.
I started my morning off right. I had a bowl of special K with 2% milk with almonds and a
orange. I plan on making the rest of my day good too. I have had 2 sets of cortizone shots, and 1 nerve block, and just 4 days ago I had the nerves burnt in my back. So I have to
be real careful with exercise just now. I have the final burning of my nerves in a week and half. Hopefully that will take care of everything and I can go on with my life .

Again , thank you all for all the support. luv you guys.

Hi Muffintop,

Been there...done that. I am my worst critic and enemy. It is easy to treat others more kindly then we would consider treating ourselves. Growing up with a perfectionist father, I have had to teach myself that IT IS OKAY NOT TO BE PERFECT. I also have learned there are times when my goals need to be small and obtainable to boost my self esteem. Each day is a new day and another chance to start again. Just don't quit trying. We all have years of bad habits that we have developed.

Somewhere on SP there was information about it takes 21 days to build a new habit. So, I have set up a goal of exercise (doesn't matter length of time, Coach Nicole's 10 sparks are great) and am committing to this on my SP daily comments. Thought public accountability might kick me into follow-through mode. We will see.

Be kind to yourself. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. Treat yourself like you would a good friend.

To MuffinTop, I hope you are under a physician's care for that OCD because it is a serious illness and needs rearrangement of your neurotransmitters. Many people have done well with meds. You would not tell a diabetic just to tough it out, would you? To the person who quit smoking, you are a winner! I quit about 25 yrs. ago and am still amazed that I was able to accomplish this very difficult feat. And I still would not touch a cigarette as I would be afraid of starting up again.

As Mardi Gras kicks into full gear here in New Orleans, one of the highlights was the Mystic Krewe of Barkus that marched through the French Quarter yesterday. Nearly 600 dogs and their people creatively costumed gave onlookers one of the most fun parades of the season. Gracie and I were bumble bees - which din't fit in with the theme of the parade in any way but we were darn cute. (Also managed to walk four miles without even noticing it!)

Welcome! You've taken the first step but this is not a smooth level journey; it has ups and downs. That's why we're here, to support each other through the downs and cheer for our ups.

Rather than getting mad at yourself, sit down and try to remember what you felt when you were eating things you hadn't planned on. Often we overeat because we're upset, stressed, or bored. Make plans for times when you will feel that way again so you won't reach for comfort food. Maybe have healthy snacks on hand, do a quick SP video, or play with your dog.

Another common mistake is to banish favourite foods. That just sets you up for cravings. Try to eat healthy most of the time and have your less healthy favourites in moderation, and make sure to log what you eat. Over time your taste will change and you won't even miss foods that you may be craving today.

Everybody is different but for most of us it's the small sustainable changes that add up to big results.

Tomorrow is a new day. I tried to quit smoking for years with no success. A little over a year ago I quit. I just did it. Don't give up. Like me one day you just will. If something doesn't work, something else will. Keep trying. Tomorrow is a new day. emoticon emoticon

don't be mad at your self. we all have bad days in the begining. never give up.

find foods that work with YOUR body chemistry.

i make this mixture for breakfast , lunch and dinner. i have lost 34 pounds .

i cook 4 large portabella mushrooms sliced, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, 4 large onions sliced, 2 large green peppers, 3 cans green beans, 1 can rutabaga and 5 sliced chicken sausages. find foods that work with your chemistry. i created this meal on my own. i can't seem to loose weight if i eat any grain products. so one day i experimented.

it makes enough for at least 4 days, three meals a day. total cost is 12 dollars. i buy the mushrooms and chicken at sams club. sounds crazy but it taste good and most importantly it's working. i'm not hungry . if i feel the urge to cheat i go get a fork full of my mixture. i chew very slowly as to enjoy my meal.

i have added a small banana and grapes for my snacks and to be a fix for my sweet tooth.

you can add other foods into your menu. just know what works with your body chemistry.

I have gone from 198 to 164 pounds. i can now fit into a size 14 comfortably. i feel so much better. think of carrying a 2 year old around your waist every minute of every day. no i am not done. on the obese chart i have gone from being obese to just plain fat. my goal is to drop another 22 pounds. then i will be happy, healthy and never allow myself to get in this condition again.

one might say eating the same food every day would get boring. not true. when you look in the mirror and can see the difference it's worth

i went to the doctor. for the first time in a long time i was not ashamed to get on the scale. i did not have to get beet red because doctor said i was over weight. it felt GREAT.

I have had a horrible week. I have OCD so I dwell on things. So the last two days I have ate comfort food. I hate myself for this. I came here to get the weight off, not to tell y ou what a failure I have been the last two day. I was giving up soda, have had 5 in the last few days.
NO sugar, have had 3 dilly bars. I will put this aside and have a fresh start tomorrow, I figure that 's all I can do.

I am so mad at myself. emoticon
