I baby them if they're sick & spoil them when they're well!! I call them my babies all the time. They haven't talked to me yet like in the cute video but my Jake does make a grumbling noise that's pretty funny!

When Kodak hears the word bath, she hides. She used to hide behind the couch, until I placed it against the wall. Now, she curls up in the back of her kennel and won't come out. Once I get her into the bathroom she will get into the tub on command but she hates getting wet. She's my little princess and princesses don't get wet, dirty or muddy. LOL

I don't treat my dogs like babies, BUT I do talk to them as I would my children... though they ( the real children) are grown and out of the nest, LOL My boy Jack, a lab mix, has such human qualities. I can have conversations with him and he understands completely. He also does that twisty head thing when you talk to him, so cute.
Once I told my BF that I was going to give Jack a bath. I went about my way, getting everything I needed. Shortly thereafter, I was ready but I could not find Jack. Looked all over the house. Asked BF if he let the dog outside. Nope. Couldn't find Jack at all!
Walked in the bathroom to start the water getting warm .... pulled the shower curtain back and there sat Jack!!!
He just looked at me as if to say "what took you so long!"
The dog was nowhere near me when I mentioned I was going to give him a bath. He just heard me mention it and put himself in the tub!
Such a smart boy!

I loved that video. Our two dogs get babied--the (16 y.o) human baby accuses us of loving them more than her. Not true--but they will always be baby/toddlers, while she grows up and away. So they stand for the babying better.

My dog is currently my chid until I have some of my own. Whereas I do not necessarily talk BABY to her, I do have entire conversations with her and do act very young and goofy. While not a subject of this forum per se I did just adopt a cat as well. Don't talk with Jasper in baby talk but do talk to him as much as I do to the dog.

Kirby is my 6 yr old baby boy boxer mix and he is SPOILED rotten. I can't really treat him like a baby because he is 55 lbs and i can't pick him up. Ziggy is my 3 yr old baby girl beagle mix and i CAN pick her up. However, she doesn't like being babied like that. So, they get LOTS of treats, I do talk baby talk to them, as well as adult talk. i do think they understand a lot of what i am saying because of my tone of voice. I don't have any human children, probably never will. so, these 2 and all my future furry kids will be babied as much as they let me.

I tend to baby mine more when they are sick. I never talk baby talk to them but if taking car rides, trips to McDonalds for nuggets or ice cream, going to the park, taking them on vacation, taking them to Grammas or Doggy Day Care, having play dates and doggy birthday parties, taking trips to the pet store, giving them treats before I leave the house and telling them "I'll be back...momma loves you" is considered babying, then why yes, of course! Doesn't everyone treat theirs that way?

The Dobie mixed pair are too big to baby a lot but the bigger of the two "Annie" likes to meet us when we come home & when the driver door opens she stands with her big paws on whom ever's lap is there & leans her big head against Paul or I. It is so sweet & affectionate with all her love shining in those beautiful brown eyes & her big doggy smile. Heidi (her sister) is more demanding of attention. She is high maintenance, hyperactive. She likes to to put her paw up and drag your arm or hand free to pet her or scratch her! The little Chihuahua however likes attention even more & gives them both heck & tries to prevent any showing of affection to any other pooch but her royal highness! She is with me all day so when Paul comes home she is right in his lap trying to give him kisses welcoming him home! They are so individual & special & loving! Then there are the kitties who like to go on walks with us...all 5 of them....ooops, wrong forum! LOL Rhonda

We don't baby Finch, as much as spoil him! He is our granddog...was only going to live with us temporarily... has been 2 1/2 yrs now! LOL! But at times he wants to be babied a bit...Last night after having our 3 (2 legged) grandsons here for a visit, they left to drive home, and Finch degectedly sat on the back of the loveseat, with his head on the window sill, looking sad and lonely...then, come over to me and tried to fit his 44 lbs in my shrinking lap, to cuddle.

Well, since Lucy IS my baby === I do treat her like a baby; albeit, with dignity.
I talk human talk to her (not baby talk) and I swear, she understands 90% of what I say!! For instance, when I'm getting her dinner....she's so excited, she whimpers. I don't like that....so i say, "Lucy, go play with your toy".... and, darn it, she trots to her toychest and pulls out a squeaky toy and plays until I put her bowl down. I tell her "I love you".... all the time. She looks at me with her big, black eyes.....and slowly blinks them...and acknowledgement that she loves me too, And finally, when she's sleepy, I put her on my lap....and she snuggles against my chest as I give her a belly rub (oh boy!!).....she closes her eyes in ecstasy!
Yes.....she's my baby, and I'm her mom!
(she's also a bossy little bitch - literally and figuratively)......she wants what she wants WHEN she wants it!! You can almost hear her tapping her toe in impatience....while I do her bidding. She barks (one very meaningful bark) at my doorman to open the door when we come in from our walks. It's as if she's saying -- "open this door, and NOW!!". Cracks us up. Luckily, he loves her a lot (as does everyone).
Yes.........Lucy is my baby, and I'm not ashamed at all to treat her as such. She has given me sooooooo much - it's the least I can do!!
Hugs, Libby

Monty is my canine baby boy. Believe me, I live with my three grown children and my canine baby give me more love then all three put together. It seems he is the only one who truley appreciates me. By the way, the kids treat him like a baby too. Monty is spoiled. We wouldn't have it any other way.

My youngest dog, a one-year-old whippet has been treated like a baby more than any other. It's just fun to spoil them at times. But she does know when I mean business and needs to because she's naturally more dominant. I've had other dogs that I could have spoiled and treated like a baby all the time and they would have never challenged me. It's interesting to see how some dogs are naturally very verbal and others aren't. Huskies, Beagles and some other hounds as well as many small breeds like to talk a lot. Then there are other dogs that mostly use body language. I know dogs that have virtually never vocalized at all.

All the kids are grown up, so yes, we do treat our Dalmatian like a baby. In the past few months, we've had her in training school, and her trainer keeps telling us that we need to get her off the sofa and off the bed. We never did let her sleep with us because of my various aches and pains, but I have to admit that the sofa was hers. I thought it would be a huge challenge to keep her off of it, but she immediately went to her dog bed and was happy as a clam. I can't say enough for professional training. It's helped so much.

We love our Golden Lab mix, what a precious baby boy he is to us, so I must admit, that yes, we do treat him like a baby. My husband tells me that I shouldn't pamper him so much, trying to figure out his every need, but once in awhile he's doing it too! Oh, for the love of pets, especially dogs!

I loved the videos on youtube. Yes I do treat my yorkie, Toruk like a baby sometimes but he doesn't talk like that. He uses his eyes to get what he wants.
