Yes, it was a really good thriller. You'd think that as I knew how all that ended that it wouldn't be so interesting but it surely was. After all, I was alive during all of this as I was born in 1934. This was a new (to me) writer and his first novel, I believe. He has been a journalist for many years with articles in Vanity Fair, etc. He also teaches at The City University of New York. He has another coming out in March 2012, "Children of Wrath", which apparently takes place before this first one. I am looking forward to reading it. They are fiction based on a great deal of fact including details on the political machinations leading up to the Nazi seizure of power and historical figures
Yesterday I began reading a new series, Jeff Lindsay's Dexter character. Apparently it was the basis for a tv program but I was unaware of it until now.
The Sleepwalkers by Paul Grossman It is set in Berlin, Germany in the 30s when it was still a Republic. The parallels with us today are scary. The people are just sure that the German people will not vote the socialist Nazis into power.
