Merry Christmas To all of you!
Ann, I despise Windows7 too. You never know where things areally are. My computer is like a giant storage system and Windows7 has messed it up. It will get even worse with Windows8. I haven't been on SparkPeople much simple because I don't have time. Every once in awhile I clean up my hundreds of emails and pop in to reply.
Well the cold weather put an end to several important projects. I can understand aches and pains because I tackle them slowly, then need to recover. And we need to take timeouts too.
I do not have a functioning kitchen sink so today because the 4 yo new expensive tap set is leaking. The cause is because the people who put in the new countertop did not cut the right size holes. The same problem will occur if I put the same tap set back in. So today I need to put in the new one. Of course there are all the problems that come with water leakage. More projects, haha. Fortunately, I don't have company coming.
Have a great day and Merry Christmas! Barb

Hello All,

I have been absent for awhile, partly due to aches and pains but the biggest pain in the butt came when my olden golden computer of 10 years conked out. No hope for revival with it!

Luckily I had recieved a laptop, when I switched from Shaw to Telus last year - the con.....I would get a new laptop and my sister would get get a few bucks for recommending a new client. I absolutely hate Windows 7 with a passion but that is all I have to work with right now!
I ask you this
"Why does a person need 3 different location of the same thing on one computer?" It is absolutely insane!

Hi All, well I don't know about the rest of you but I am not ready for this change that makes winter all too real. I have so many things to do yet outside and can't work out when it is too cool. My circulation doesn't like it and I have to pace myself because of injuries to my back and neck.
Have a great week. Barb

Ha! Ha! Barb at least we know we have higher ground to go. I was born and raised in Vancouver area. Vacations were always a trip the the Okanagan, so my mom could stock on fruits and veggies for canning. Dusty gravel roads, stuck in the back seat of a 1940 Austin, with piles of fruit boxes, quarreling or whining siblings. We always stayed in the same motel, each summer what a relief to jump into the Okanagan lake at the end of each daily road trip!

I escaped to the Okanagan, with my teenage daughter, whom at the time had a drug dealer for a boyfriend. I figured a few mountain ranges might do the trick, to separate them. If not well I tried. With in a month the teenage romance was over. Phewww!

She is now happily married and with a toddler. Making me a proud grandma!

Hi All,
for years I was torn between ocean or lakes, Island or the Interior (lived all my working life in Vancouver). Before I retired, I took a job in Phoenix, AZ that lasted 4 years. Great experience but am glad to be back. It helped me get clarity and although I love the Island and more and more of my family and friends are moving there, I couldn't get over the feeling of being stuck, I hate the ferry lineups, the cost and franticness, cancellations, etc. Even though the Island is almost the size of Switzerland, I still have to take a ferry to get off it. And I am so Over taking those ferries.
Haha, nice scare job Ann re the Tsunami warning. It's only on the west coast side. I've experienced more earthquakes in the Okanagan than I ever did in Vancouver. That's the little known secret.
Have a great week. Barb

I'm new to this team and hope to make some friends in the Okanagan area. My DH and I will be moving out there within the next two years. We haven't been able to decide between the island or the Okanagan, but my DH has heard so much about the costly (and time consuming) ferry system, so he doesn't want to live there. We have a realtor on the island and in BC proper currently sending us listings for both areas.

When we find something we like, we'll need to rent it out until we can finally move out there. My DH retires in 2014, but I was thinking about it the other day and realized that two years is not very long so I've started getting rid of things in our VERY full basement for starters. We're also getting very close to the winter season here in Edmonton and won't see spring until around May, so I'm looking forward to living in a warmer climate with actual 'seasons' (and where it doesn't snow in June!)

Nice to meet you all.

4THEONESILUV ~ emoticon The Sunny Okanagan Team, glad to have you aboard!

I thought of moving to Vancouver Island but the Okanagan had better opportunities. I have resided in the Okanagan for 24 years now. It was the best move I ever made, leaving the lower mainland.

Vancouver Island is beautiful but you have only one escape and that is by the ever rising ferry costs.

Heard on the news that the BC government aims to replace the physical coast guards with computer servailance covering all of the BC coast, an area stretching 1,000 miles. I think that is absolutely insane.

I hope the public protests and squashes such a plan. For the safety of citizens, tourists and fisherman, wether they be commercial or sport fishing. Why does the government want to do this? They say to save money. Hmm, how can they put a price on safety of the people?

Sorry for ranting but that bit of news, got to me.

My husband and I have begun our search for a home in BC, likely in the Okanagan. We have friends on the island who want us to move close to them, but my husband has his heart set on the mainland! I wonder if it would be okay to join this group a bit early?
