Have a great day, today. Weather here was perfect for early morning swim, which I did. Then it was to the RED BARN for produce. Found some great corn, which we brought home and roasted on the grill with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, and a touch of salt. I can't believe they came out tasting so good. I can't have fat right now, or dairy, so butter is off the chart, plus salt is being held back greatly cuz I feel like I indulge way too much.

I'm actually at a point where I want this thing done so I get on with my journey in a new light. I am actually hoping by the time I can indulge in a bit of fat, I won't want it. Good fat is okay, but I've always been an extremist so hoping I don't want any fat to the point that I have to force myself to eat something with fat and it will have to be good fat.

Have a great one!

Sunny weather this morning - good for walking or other exercise!

Don't know what this afternoon will bring - lately it's been deluges out there so expect it again today. Lots of puffy white clouds lining up on the horizon.

Feeling good today. Better than I have in a while and set for the week.

Have a great one, all!

TD -

DH stands for dear husband or dumb husband as the day changes, but usually dear husband.

I have gone my entire life without seeing many doctors and now that I'm a senior, it's a right of passage. I've always been overweight, but basically healthy. Now, I'm losing weight through diet and exercise, which is very good. However, I do have a battle going on with the medical profession right now and one doctor in particular over a UTI.

My husband just had a kidney stone and we were both going through that - there is no way your husband can go through a kidney stone without becoming involved - at least not if you love him, as far as I'm concerned.

So seems like I see a lot of doctors lately only because we see each others doctors, too. It will die down again sooner than later.

My DH is my best friend, lover, mate, and even my kindred spirit. Yes, we can feel each other's presence, even if we can't see each other. We can hear each other's thoughts and it gets scary when we start giving answer to questions the other only thought, but it just makes us feel we've proved how much we love each other.

I honestly don't know what I will do without him. I want to die first.

On a different level - it quit raining here. Yesterday we had some nice sunny weather in the morning, with a few clouds barging through. Then it got grayer and grayer and started raining hard and kept raining hard. I think we had several hours of hard rain and I remember going to bed at 10pm thinking, "I wonder if we are going to be here in the morning?" I also think Andrea took a sharp turn and came back to the hot tub we call the Caribbean. No wind, just lots of gray skies and loads of rain.

The sun is not up yet, so can't see if it drained away or if we are actually floating and just don't know it.

Amazingly, Florida seems to drain well, even if it is mostly sea level.

Have a good one.

GHOST- Thanks for the support. Hope things go well with you too, you seem to see a lot of doctors! What does DH stand for? I haven't done many forums and I think this is one like MIL that describes a relationship, but I am not sure which.

Not missing Andrea. The water has run off, the wind has settled down to a tiny breeze ruffling the palm trees, my dying banana tree is all but ripped out of the ground, but other than that, we are just fine. We had tornado warnings and watches, but I think the closest was about 10 miles away, maybe 5, but one touched down in Myaka City and blew away a horse barn and the dog pen next to it. The horse was injured so badly, they had to put it down, and the two dogs were missing as of last time I heard. No injuries or deaths to humans - WooHoo!

Another tornado touched down in Sun City Center about 10 miles away and tore up a pool cage and a patio cage. (I know that's not what they are called, but I can't think of what they are called, so good enough - you can figure it out, I'm sure!).

Short of a few leaves that got blown off trees, we're just fine. Have a great one!

the day went well - for having the TS Andrea blowing through. Pool was definately out, but got all the rest done even with watching for tornado watches and warnings. Had three for my area today. I know there was some damage in Myaka City, Sun City Center, and Gulfport. I only know one person in Gulfport and I hope she (and hers) are okay and made it through without any damages.

Did my mile nearly inside - it was way to sticky and hot today. Walked in the red barn, the veggie stand area and did a lot of the little eddies you can find in there. So many people with a ton of kids today, strollers everywhere. It was like the grands were showing it off to their grandkids, who really were not interested in it and I had to wonder why so many people were being so happy shoving little kids around in strollers, dragging them about by the hand, having to deal with temper tantrums, and calling them back from the tables they were climbing over, under, running around, and keeping track of them. Is that some kind of sport? Felt bad for the grands.

So got my walk in and felt good.

Have a great one!

Working on positivity and normal everyday things. Getting it done!

Got my 1 mile walk in and feeling energized from that. Like how just a 1 mile walk can change your metabolism and change you, essentially, from a slug to a panther!

TDICOIO = Stress like you describe went with me while my DH was getting ready for and going through surgery, called a procedure. I was so stress out. I was hacking up everything, complaining about all of it and every step I had to take just put more stress on me.

Now it's over and I'm doing a lot better. One thing I noticed is that I didn't eat for one whole day, not good for me, cuz of prediabetes 2 and I get real sluggish and lightheaded when I don't eat. So here I sat one day without eating anything. Felt rotten because of not eating. Decided killing myself was not an answer and kicked myself a couple of good ones, then vowed to forget the entire day, not beat myself up, but use it for maybe helping some one else along the way. Here you are. I won't beat you up cuz you ate and ate, so did I. Didn't even care at the time, and then wondered which was worse, starving myself totally, or eating out of control totally?

Point is, none of it matters, actually. I didn't go about trying to make it all work out in the wash, going over 30 carbs per meal blows the sugar levels in the blood so I can't make up for it later, but I vowed not to even try. I just got back in the saddle and started working my plan again.

My suggestion is that you do the same. You are already stressed out enough, putting more stress on yourself at this time in counter productive. Relax a lot! None of the worry and stress from fears is going to change anything. Well, yes it will change something - you.

There's a video on SP called Qi Dong. I couldn't find it on the menu but I typed it into the search box and it brought up the video and I played it and it was the most relaxing thing I could find. I was moving, slowly, relaxing, and clearing my mind and I've tried doing that with yoga and got nowhere, but this really helped me. I can only suggest you try it.

I hope your DH gets through the surgery easily and quickly and is back to normal real quick. Mine is pushing himself to get back to normal quickly and being older, it just doesn't go as fast as it would have a long time ago. There will be days when you will probably feel depressed, go to the Qi Dong video and let it be your go to for everything negative. It really helped me and also not adding the extra stress of kicking myself for hours over my missteps. All you can do is get up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.

I wish you SparklingSuccess in reaching all your goals and dreams, health, wealth, and happiness. Please come back when you can and tell us how things are going for you and your DH.

Bridgetter - Haven't heard from you in a long time. Miss you, my friend. The pool was great. A little on the cooler side, I wouldn't mind it a little warmer, but swimming in the bathtub is not what I want either. It was a little on the dirty side, some wind had blown all kinds of junk into it, but it's usually so clean and pristine so I just figured, the pool guy hadn't made it in yet. He works so hard.

Hope you are doing grand. Wish you the best, too. my friend.

Hubby needs, surgery... I had a bad day yesterday. We found out he's got a fistula and is going to need surgery to fix it, within the next week. Worse, maybe it was the stress, but I was starving yesterday. I ate dinner and less than an hour later I had seconds, then thirds, then a bowl of cereal, then ANOTHER bowl of cereal. I just kept getting hungry. I totally went over on my calories and fat and carbs. Bad, bad day. I've got the next four, plus today, planned out to cut back what I ate on Wednesday, so it'll all balance out, but it's still really frustrating. Like I need this on top of everything else. SIGH.

Went back to the pool today - starting a new streak for the pool. Day 1 is done.

Tried to get it done yesterday, but didn't make it. Was a little windy, but didn't get my shoulders wet so no problems there.

Another day of kidney stone recovery for the DH - has a fever and other problems - I'm guessing it's all part of the procedure but what do I know. So far - doctor says he's fine, but it isn't fun watching him go through this and now he's feeling like a burden and is apologizing for causing me stress. Gosh I love him and would take it on myself if I could. What am I learning here? Not sure but only one thing to do and that is keep going.

Yesterday, Tuesday, is the day they shut the pool down because they want everyone to come in and eat donuts and drink coffee all morning and socialize. When someone suggested that they socialize over something healthier than donuts and coffee, you would have thought they were asked to chop off a leg or arm. Yet they all (except the most stubborn) agreed that eating donuts every Tuesday was not really a good idea as they all have health problems like liver and/or kidney disease, heart problems, lung problems, over weight (massively) and no desire to lose it. There was one lady telling me the first doctor she went to told her to lose weight and basically walked away. She went to another. We're looking at a 300 pound plus woman who has a tube to her nose with oxygen because she can't breathe. But she finally found, after several tries, a doctor that ordered the oxygen, patted her hand, and gave her a pile of scripts for medicine that doesn't apparently help at all. But she takes them on a daily basis, complains about the expense and refused to give up 1 donut on Tuesday. So what can anyone do. Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Except stop going there on Tuesdays. That is my choice. You can't buy a cup of coffee without going to the donut pile where the cashier is. I don't want to look at the donuts or I'll probably cave - sometimes I'm strong enough they don't call or I don't hear them calling - but the point is, I don't need to be around them, or the people that devour them by the doubles and triples. One guy get's four every week! But that's the skinniest guy in the park!

So on Tuesday's, I have to come up with a plan other than going to the pool that is now closed. Can you believe this = we have a group of people that have fought their way to power in this park. They have made it so that the tour lady cannot sell a ticket for any tour that will take a single person from this park when there is a function planned in the clubhouse because they want the people to go to the function. I don't go to any of them and I used to sell travel so I don't need their travel lady anyway. They would not let me sell travel here, and there was another travel agent that told me they would not even allow her to live here. That surprised me, but I sort of wished I was the one that was denied permission to live here. They break laws all over the place and get away with it. Not my favorite place to live and wish I would have never allowed a particular person to convince me to buy in here, but here we are and now I can't afford to move, although I disagree with that attitude completely. I am the one that refused to follow the crowd or be cowed by anyone.

Have a great day!

JOMAMA - hope your DH is feeling better quickly. My DH has gone through it also and did very well and was over it very quick, but that was years ago. Glad you had some good weather, too. It always helps when your stressed out to have good weather, seems to help lighten the load somehow.

We had nice weather yesterday, too. We were out on our patio enjoying some of it, but eventually, it got too hot so we shut it down and came back inside.

Hitting the pool at 9am. Have a great one, all!

Husband is recovering from hernia surgery, so I don't have any plans for this beautiful day! I will do some chores and maybe get out for a walk , bike ride or a dip in the pool! Enjoy a lovely Sunday all!

Another chance to go to the pool today. I'm headed over there at 9am. The sun is out, the sky is blue, the temp is warm and I'm ready to go.

Have a great one!

I lost 3 pounds just because I went to the pool? Well, I was trying to eat less, but I think I was eating more, based on what I put on my food tracker. So I am happy that I lost, but surprised. Don't have a reason for eating what I ate, I just did. Seems like I do have a craving for sugary things like candy lately and I don't know why. I've been doing my best to stay away from sugar, my BSLs are good and low, I've even crashed twice because they got too low, but with the exercise and the attempt to learn how to stay away from Salt, Sugar, and Fat, I've been doing good up until the last couple of days and then all I feel is "candy!" I even looked up a recipe I have for making crunchy toffy, but I didn't have the desire to spend the time to make it so I didn't. Thank God for small things. If I had wanted to really spend the time to make it, I would have and then I would have eatten the entire 1.5 pounds of it. Just do not need that much sugar.

So I've been fighting, pretty much, the sugar attacks, and trying to find ways to counteract them, as in eating something healthy that might kill the sugar craving, too.

This morning I woke up so hungry, about a 3 on a scale of 1-5, and at 2am I ate a 1/2 cup of vanilla yogurt with my cup of coffee. The stomach pains quit and finally at 5:35am, I'm ready to go back to bed.

Keeping a diary on my sleep pattern again in the hope of figuring out why I wake up. Could be the TV, but haven't like the silence for years. Not sure what to do about it, either.

Have a great one - gotta go figure things out.

Something between my computer and SP blew a fuse yesterday and I got this notice that said SP was down for 4 hours - sorry for the -----. But 12 hours later the same message came across. I finally rebooted, then got back online and tried again. Still there, but I closed the tab and opened a new tab for SP and was back with the site. Have no idea what was going on, but things are fine now.

Got my pool exercise done this morning. Have a great one!

What is digging in your yard? We have an Amarillo or a raccoon digging in one little corner of ours. I actually think it is a Sandhill crane that is looking for some grub or something. It's a tiny corner between brick planter box and concrete driveway. No grass grows there and the digging spot is actually sand now cuz there is nothing left living in it and nothing grows there. But it isn't very deep, maybe a couple inches deep and about 6 inches in diameter.

I keep thinking we are going to disappear into a sinkhole made by the fire ants. We have this one section of yard that we are constantly dousing with Fire Ant Killer, to no avail apparently as they keep coming back. We did pay a couple of different companies to kill them permanently - Ha, what a ride that was. Anyway, they are still out there - nothing kills them, even when we spray on a daily basis. So I figure the nest is so deep that we will just sink into it someday. Yuk!

Hope you figure out what is burrowing in - can you hire one of those guys that comes out and gets the "wild life"?

Have a good one!

I worry about that with the way my husband takes care of himself (or doesn't) plus this issue with the acid reflux of mine and the cysts in the thyroid. Our hospital copay has gone way up this year so it is going to hurt. Add that to everything this house and yard need it gets kind of scary but I know we have to figure out how to stop the damage in the front yard from a large burrow that is now caving in. UGH!!! I hate this!!

Pampered Chef! I used to have those by the month. They are so full of fat, salt, and sugar as everything is designed to make cooking at a party easy and show off all the goods to sell. It is a good product, I just wish someone would come up with a low carb/healthy dish to make on those earthenware pans.

I agree and I'm not the only one feeling like it's a scam to a degree. I mean the visits to the doctor that are required every few days before and after. Each one is another 45.00 copay and then when they do the procedure in the hospital it's going to cost us over 500.00 out of our pocket, of which we really don't have right now. So we are left scrambling around trying to come up with it without putting ourselves in total unrecoverable debt.

We'll do it somehow, but I am not sure how.

Well, what a pain!! in more ways than one.
We have had a semi set up with different machines like a ct scan, etc. that was moved from Dr office to Dr office but never put on and taken off a truck. I suppose it makes sense but crazy to move it like that. Guess they don't want to pay rent on office space so everyone could just go to a central spot.
I ate too much today with lunch out with my youngest and then a pampered chef party this evening.

Sorry the trainer got hit by a truck and hope she is really okay.

I agree with you on the OR but it does not appear to work that way any more. They apparently save the ORs for emergencies these days and if they have a specific machine they keep a specific OR for, then they rent the thing out to various doctors on a daily basis. So ours is a ureteroscopy. The local hospital has one. They lease the room and the "tools" to a doctor by a half day or full day basis. So a doctor might have enough patients to schedule one day a month for a couple of months, but then he might only have enough to lease the OR out for a half day. The thing that irritates me is that you sit in pain or go to a doctor that has the room much sooner. For instance if we wanted this done tomorrow, there isn't a doctor that would do it anywhere as you have to have this specific blood draw (platelets) done two days prior to the surgery. So he would have to wait for two days at any rate. So let's say that's done and you want to have the surgery done two days from now. If the doctor that has the OR for the day takes you, you can get it done then. But you might end up with a doctor you don't like or trust (and perhaps shouldn't), So in the mean time they give you pain killers and tell you you can't drive or operate machinery. That might work if you don't have far to go or work in your house. Or your spouse has to play taxi driver.

It's all very "organized" right now. I keep thinking that there has to be something better, but not being part of that end of the system, whoever is organizing is hopefully smarter on the issues than I am.

I can understand how someone that foots the loot for an expensive machine would want to make it mobile and lease it out to doctors on a daily basis. I know the machine they do the lithotripsy is leased on a daily basis. It comes complete with a tech. They move it in on special forklift and then leave the forklift outside. The machine is sterilized and then put into use for the day, then the tech cleans it up and forklifts it into the truck along with the forklift to move onto the next place the next day. Good system for the machine and the investor, probably the doctors and the staff, but for the patients, it has it's huge drawbacks.

I guess when you are not dealing with life and death issues, you don't get quick service. I believe we could have gone to Canada and been done with this two weeks ago, at least and a lot cheaper. Still think they have it so "organized" to get more money out of it.

Well, I'm off to get more things done for the day. have a good one.

I would be tempted to call the doctor and tell them he is in serious pain and something needs to be done right now. They should be able to open up an operating room for something like that.

I'm not wild about kids' dirty hands all over me and really dislike how parents seem to be incapable of training their kids to sit and be halfway mannerly in a restaurant. Who wants their kids hands on the dirty window and blinds anyway?

I need to go out and get the front yard mowed before it gets any warmer out. My trainer cancelled on me because she was hit by a drunk driver the other night and is home recuperating.

That would be great, but alas, he's sick today so I'm pretty sure the thing is moving down the last bit of ureter. It is at the narrowest point, just before dropping into the bladder, and since there are no nerves inside the body, the pressure causes pain and nausea and/or hotheadedness, which is what's going on today. All he can do is try to relax, so he's laying around reading today. I'm so glad it is not me. As I have stated before, I can take a lot of pain, but the duration is short. Then, like an animal, I start biting and snarling.

Hope you have a Happy Mother's Day! It's a day I try to think of as any other day as my "babies" (cats) are long gone. I still miss them a lot. I used to get a card and dinner from my cats, but not anymore. Bob did take me to "breakfast" today (Dunkin Donuts) so I can't complain, but it's a little sad, especially when I see some little one stumbling around with sugar and frosting all over the face and hands and leaving everything a gooie mess. My mom never let me touch anything until I was wiped down or scrubbed in the bathroom - but then we didn't have Dunkin when I was that little. But she didn't allow us to get goo and stuff everywhere. "It's rude!" I remember hearing.

I think the thing that gripes me about a lot of parents is that they allow their little ones to stand and jump up and down on the bench, smear their grimy hands all over everything and the window, too. Then they don't even try to stop the kid or wipe up the mess.

I had one behind me one day and he was putting his dirty hands all over my back and shoulders. I finally saw what was happening, moved, then got out and smiled at the baby, but to the parents I said, "Cute kid, but I don't appreciate being covered with his dinner. The least you could do is keep his hands on your clothes instead of mine. That's rude!" Their smiles changed to mortified looks, but I got my point across. I sat back down, they didn't say a word, but they gathered up their kid and stuff and left.

I guess I follow Dear Abby's advise and that is, if you don't say something or ask for something, how do you expect a person to automatically understand your feelings? I have a lot of consideration and usually am pretty kind to people, but I have a short fuse when it comes to allowing kids to slobber, sneeze, and put their dirty hands all over me. Good think they have to wear diapers in public, too.

Have a great one!

Hopefully will hear one way or the other on the job Monday.

Went to doctor's appt today to hear about the next thing they are going to attempt. He had to tell us all the stuff, which was very helpful, and he had to tell us the risks, too.

But regardless, there is hope, no matter what goes. They have an answer for any contingency. Which is actually good.

So now we wait for the scheduler to discuss it with the doctor and then they call and set up the time for the surgery room at the hospital. This one is more important to do at the hospital instead of at the surgery center. I don't care, but apparently my DH did care. I think we pay more insurance wise for the hospital. Have to check on it, but we don't have a choice, except to wait it out and it will not pass from the bladder out. So they would have to go into his bladder and get it at any point. It is almost there now, but it has hit the narrowest point and probably will not go any farther. Interesting things happen now.

Thanks for the support. Need it.

have a good one!

I gave up points last night on things that I normally do on Spark but couldn't stay up for.

They just called. Now the doctor wants to meet with him tomorrow and they'll go from there. another 40.00 to their kitty for this meeting. (Is our medical system a scam or what?)

Got my hair cut yesterday - boy did it need it! Feels good again

Got an email from the place I'm wanting to work at. She's meeting with her brother, the owner tomorrow and she'll get back to me after the meeting or early next week. Not so sure why I want to work there, but I was so impressed with the place, the employees, the food, the works. Just had to ask for a job and she liked me well enough to bother asking the owner and taking me through some of the stuff so I had an idea what I was going to be getting into. Day-time host. I think I can handle that, plus when I see something that needs doing, and have the time, I get to go do it instead of standing around feeling like a left boot on a right foot and looking the part, too.

Can't wait to find out. Will be disappointed if I don't get it, but I'll live. Just sucked up into the excitement of it. It's not that far from home, either - another great plus.

Have a great one. Hope your morning went well.

I hope they call soon. I know you'll be very happy to have that procedure over and done with.

Your studying sounds like a prolonged English class. lol I agree making some money for doing it would be great!

I have to get up early in the morning to get my daughter to work so I better finish my sparking.

Sounds like you got your lawn mowed. Bet that felt good to have it done. Especially since you could do it without sweating just looking at it.

Thanks have settled down a little now. Waiting for the call from the scheduler to start it all over again. Hope it is soon. I don't think this one is going to wait long. It wasn't supposed to move as it was too big. Well, maybe it's not as big as they think it is. Anyway, will still be glad when it's over.

Got my work done today. I purposely got some of my laundry done on Sunday because I knew it wouldn't have a chance on Monday. So today, i was right on schedule with it - so that felt good. Plus I got my work done - another thing that felt good. I'm doing a study on one file and I keep doing it until I get it perfect. That means I have to really listen to the doctors words. Right now, I can't put in any extra words, except 5 as in and, in, on, or & of. So if they don't say it, I can't add it. I can't change any words either. So when they break up a sentence that could flow with a couple of non-important conjunctions, I have to use semi-colons. Gotta know the punctuation. I have a book that explains all the various types of words and the punctuation and when it is permitted to use it, etc. I spend a lot of time in that book just making sure I did it right.

I am enjoying the learning. Would like to get to a point where I earn a buck or two off it, but I'll get there.

Anyway, have a great one.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Tomorrow is the day! I'm as ready as I can get, and still so stressed over it. Working on not being stressed.

Have a great one!

They did an x-ray at the hospital the day I hauled him to the ER. But they do another x-ray just before surgery to make sure it's still where it was, or exactly where it is. I think if it has made it to his bladder, they might change the procedure and go into his bladder with a little basket and pull it out that way. Or maybe they can crush it in his bladder. I don't know but that is why they do another x-ray. It's just all the rushing around and I'm already a wreck. He can't drive home so whats the point of letting him drive there. We'd have to find a neighbor to drive his car back and that's ridiculous. I'm already uptight with the "What ifs" and I have to let it go.

There are so many things that have to be done along the line and I'm ready for a big dark room and a nice comfy bed. So tired tonight. Haven't slept since 2am this morning, and not sure I wasn't awake for an hour before that.

Did manage to get some things done today, so feeling okay on that level, but just not liking the hassles and the hurry-up-and-waits and all these things heaped on top. I'm very organized. I don't like disorganization and I feel like I'm stuck in a swill of it.

Only thing I can do is go with the flow - it will just be easier.

Have a great one! Hope you get some sunshine sometime soon. We had a day of sun off and on between big black puffy clouds but no rain. It was a little too windy to go to the pool or I would have floated around in it for several hours today.

Sounds like a great day, Bridgetter4! Are you saying that this rain we've had for 3 days will actually go away? I turned the tv on at 6am and heard about flooding and closed roads so I texted my coffee buds and said I was just staying in bed and immediately went back to sleep. I also decided to skip the gym because of the weather and the fact that I would have had to hurry to get there. Not a good idea in the rain so it's been a lazy day for me.

Pat, you do what you have to do. It's a pain having to be somewhere early especially if you have to stop at several places. If the xray hasn't been done why can't they do that at the hospital and if it HAS been done, why doesn't the Dr have it with him at the hospital???

As I said, I've had a really lazy day other than using the push broom to try and keep the water off the front walk. The big oak tree has the ground raised in the front yard so all the water now runs to the sidewalk. What a pain but my husband doesn't want to remove the tree even though it's way too close to the house now.

Hey, Bridgetter4 - how's it going. Long time, friend!

I like the idea of walking the gator. They do have a tendency to lay around and get real fat!

Just got a call from the Surgeon's office. Have to take Bob to the Hospital for a Platelett test at 1030am on Monday, then to the doctor's office for his x-ray, then immediately down for the "procedure". Leave and wait for their call. I am not looking forward to next Monday or the entire week. have no idea what to expect, except the little fragments of info they gave out, like the bruising and that's about it. I'm a wreck and it's not even on me. Can you imagine if it was on me? They'd have to knock me out early on Monday and roll me around to where they wanted me. I don't know how people get through this stuff.

I can't even plan on what I am going to be doing and now I have Verizon calling me telling me my minutes are used up because I have made so many telephone calls this month already and I have to wait until the 15th to clear the line.

If it isn't one thing, it's something else.

Have a great one!

Shaping up to be a good looking Friday! Got the Gator walked, breakfast of egg whites and tomatoes eaten, a load of laundry and dishes going, grocery list made. Now I wait a bit to do my first cardio workout of the day (digesting you know!), then food shopping and wait for the DH to get home to walk the golf course. I finally got him on board with the weight loss deal. I think he realizes now that he is not getting any younger and when his swim trunks from last year didn't quite fit this year, well, I think he's getting the message. emoticon

Dedication weighs ounces, regret weighs tons!

It's been raining here all day but I still made it to the gyms for training, cardio and water aerobics. Had lunch with my friend after that before she headed off to her place in Georgia.

No power outage last night, but it poured for quite awhile and they were huge drops. The pool is going to have to be drained a bit, again otherwise it will overflow.

Nasty weather this morning - it's not raining but it looks like Seattle weather, slate gray skies and dreary feelings. It's probably sticky hot - haven't been out yet so have no idea yet.

Have a great one - LOBSTERMAN finally activated his page today. It's about time.

went for a walk this morning, stopped by the clubhouse to check the glass door where they put notices of clubhouse or pool closures - one on Friday May 3 for power cleaning so no water aerobics that day unless the weather is good and we do it after 2pm, which will probably not happen.

Anyway, water was nearly overflowing the pool so he had to kick the drain on to lower it or we would have had water hitting the lake from our fun splash time. It was warm, which surprised me - it's usually cold after the rain. Now we're having another t-storm, which knocked out our power last night. I'm ready for it tonight. I've been making sure all my flashlights work and are very handy. Last night, I knew right where one was, but there was a huge glass coffee table between us and the flashlight, so we had to go slow - I hate being in the absolute dark. Then when the light came on it wasn't steady for a little while, like something was dragging across the wires making it not quite flash. I am expecting a real nasty H season this year. It was like this the year we moved here and Charlie was our first H, ever. I'm ready, but don't want them.

Have a good one!

No storms for us today unless it just hasn't gotten here, yet. Yes, if they do have to go through the treatment he will be sore and bruised. I've had a couple friends who had to have it done.

Still gives me the creeps. I guess I don't want to be electrocuted.

Anyway, getting closer to Monday's Surgery, which is not really surgery, but that's what they call it. They'll be sending shock waves through his body to breakup the stone. He hasn't had any pain for the last two days and I'm wondering in the stupid thing finally made it to his bladder. They will be taking an x-ray right before they do the work so they know where to aim the shock wave. They told us that he would have a large bruise on his back from the shock wave going through his body, like a slug from some boxer. At any rate, it has to be done, I'm just more nervous than he is. I always said, if I have to have surgery - any surgery, I don't want to know about it until right before - like emergency surgery. Just take me and get it done and over with. I don't want to think about it at all.

Well - I guess, I need to get going on something else. Just had a lovely T-storm roll through and by all sounds, it isn't done yet. Lots of rain, black nasty clouds, some thunder that shakes the house. The rain stopped, but everything else is still there.

Have a good one.

No, it's probably not a great idea to have the stereo that close to the pool edge. Our class leaders will have one but it's normally up on a table 2-3 ft from the pool which works great since our leader is out of the pool. There was one gal who would bring a dvd player with a disc of water exercises and she would put it by the pool but I'm not sure how close.

Thanks KG

Next Monday is Bob's "surgery" day. I personally cannot wait for it to be over with, I get more nervous and stressed as time goes by. I have to drive him there, then come home and wait for them to call me to come get him. From approx 8am until ??? He is slated for 11:30am for the surgery, I have no idea how long he'll be there or when I am to go back - depends on a host of things.

He's not nervous, he says, I am!

I was going to go to the pool this morning for water aerobics, but while we had sun, a very light breeze and the temp was almost right, I kept watching the clouds build up and since we have T-storms predicted for the week, I stayed home. Should have gone. It all held off long enough to have made it. Next time, I don't hesitate when the conditions are good. I figure, now, I could have gone and if it got nasty, I would just get out.

There is one frightening thing they do that bugs the crap out of me. They put the music box right next to the pool and string the electrical cord up to the building about 50 feet away. Cuz they don't want to get out of the pool to change the tapes, etc.

I fear they are going to electrocute us all one of these days. Thinking about calling the fire department anonymously. Everytime I see them do it, I almost get out. I have gotten out a few times and told them the situation, but they just blow it off. Sometimes it has batteries so if it fell in or got kicked in, no problem, no one would get shocked. But come on, electricity and water don't mix.

Well, off to do other things now. Have a great one!

In a way I wish that were how I am learning, but at the same time, having nothing before, I don't think I would still be there. The irritating thing is that you practice all this crap and then you take a test and they throw things at you that you never heard of before and can't understand. I know it's because they want to see how you handle it, but being from old school, you took tests on what you were learning before, not to see what you can do to climb over the problems. I have to pass a test soon or I think I may not get to see my dream come true.

Anyway, I have to keep trying for now, cuz there isn't a lot of anything I can do any more.

Have a good one.

Back in the old days when I was still a teenager, I was a medical transcriber for about a year. We used Dictaphones and tried to decipher what the doctors were saying and type it up. Then if we got a word or something wrong we were in trouble and sometimes it's really hard to understand a medical word or to be able to tell the difference between two very similar words. Good luck-glad you get to practice. I never did-just had to learn by doing.

Sorry you had to have bruises at all, but I guess sometimes, when they really move your muscles around to get at the knots, there is bruising, but I think the goal is to get the knots out without bruises. I always got tea, too. Makes you feel special. She would go out leaving instructions to relax for about 5 minutes, then get up slowly and dress, then she'd come back and hand you tea (can't stand hot drinks so had to let it cool first) and then it was home to hit the shower with the hot and cold for me otherwise I would get those bruises that took about 21 days to vanish (the color was gone long before the pain was). Once I started doing the hot and cold showers and drinking some tea with antioxidants in it for several days after, I stopped getting the bruising, but it might also be that as time went on, the knots were not as bad. I don't know, just know they are not fun.

Always felt so relaxed after the messages though.

Haven't been to one since we moved down here. Will get Bob some when he's done with the kidney stone problem and I'm making some money to spend on him. Can't wait for that day to happen. Right now, I'm taking extra care to learn how to hear the doctors as they dictate. It would be great if they ever listened to themselves. It would improve how they dictated, but that idea seems to escape them totally. They would speak without food in their mouths, they would stop slurring their words, or trying to beat the world's speed talking record. I always feel like it's a great way to get your work done, but if you talk so fast that the person listening can't hear the individual words well enough to do their work for you, what's the point? I was learning one doctor that did the weight, BP, pulse, in no distress, and the head, ears, eyes, nose, and throat stuff so fast that it sounded like one long word and foreign to boot. Just when I was getting to understand that, I was switched on doctors, but it's kind of fun to go back and listen now that I know more stuff and see how much better I am at it.

Have a great one!

I think the scarring in my kidney is from a stone. I know there were several times I felt like I had one or more. I would certainly hate to be in the air and start having a stone start moving-wow-not much you can do in that case. I'm really sorry you have to miss your trip, though.

I was surprised the bruises took so long to show up-not until after I left the swimming pool 11 hours later. They aren't real painful just look bad. There was a cup of tea waiting for me when I went to the checkout counter. That was nice.

I'm trying to fix dinner so I guess I better go check on it.

Sometimes message therapists do hurt, no on purpose, but it does work in the end. Mine would always say, to home, drink a cup of herbal tea (green, white were also okay - she wanted me to be getting anti-oxidents) and then go take a shower. Start with warm water and build it up to hot, then make it cold, then hot again, cold again, and repeat that for several minutes. She wanted my back especially to get the hot and cold. It was not fun, but it sure did keep it from feeling like bruised muscles the next day. I finally learned that it didn't need to be so cold, hot was not a problem for me. I don't really understand why the alternating temps work on your back, but they sure do.

I had a deep message one day and then went to a corporate party on a boat. My boss came up and put her hands on my back and I thought I was being beaten with a baseball bat. I was trying not to scream and get her hands off my back at the same time. I was not real successful. The poor woman was drunk and didn't have a clue of what I was trying to tell her. The lopsided grin never left her face and she finally tottered off for more alcohol. Why do companies think it's cool to have dinner parties where everyone gets all dressed up and then serve alcohol to someone until they can't stand. I would have thought the company owning the boat would have parked her somewhere, tied her down, and only allowed her coffee. The liability of a drunk falling down or overboard and then suing you has got to be real high not to forget the mental anquish someone would go through because of it.

We spent another day at the surgery center yesterday getting him tested for anesthesia. I never heard of this before, but they are thorough and our insurance is paying for it. The insurance company told me everything is going to be paid for except $275.00. Not sure how we'll get that, but Bob is working again, we'll tighten the belt again and live like destitute people for a couple of weeks and it will be paid off real quick.

Will be so glad when we have everything paid for and then sell everything we own and buy an RV and then live like nomads for the rest of our lives. I'm sick of owning stuff. Why do we have to own so much stuff. I keep trying to get rid of it, but I don't feel like I'm making much headway. Got rid of some clothes and shoes yesterday and my closet still looks stuffed. Good grief!

Well I'm done complaining - on to the more positive stuff! We got all the prelim stuff done yesterday, no grocery shopping cuz it took longer than anyone thought it would. Apparently the guy before us took longer for some reason unknown to me and that put them behind and you know how that story goes, but beyond the long wait, we were treated very well, profusely apologized to, and they worked as quickly and efficiently as possible. She even checked with the cardiologist to see what their labs reported so she wouldn't have take blood, but those labs didn't give her what she needed, so she took blood.

Then we had to rush home, I made lunch, bob had an upset stomach all day yesterday cuz this stone is stuck somewhere between kidney and bladder. It causes a lot of pain, he takes meds for pain, anti-inflams, and antibios but because it is stuck where it is and moving very slowly, if at all, things are backed up behind it. So I am sure he's getting "poisoned" enough to give him an upset stomach. He's drinking plenty of water as that is supposed to help flush it down (seems ridiculous cuz it's stuck) and also keeps his kidneys functioning. They only do the lithotripsie once a month so he has to wait until May 6th. We tried to see if there was another doctor that could do it sooner. No luck. Anyway, he's set. I'm not. I guess I don't get to stay there - no where to stay, while they do this to him. They'll call me when he's ready to come home. In some ways, that's great, but in others, not so great. Have to live with it.

Our trip north is shot down the tube, too. The doctor is writing a letter so we get our money and points back for the cancelled trip. Only one other time this happened and I was the one who could not fly. But can you imagine him up in the sky after having this surgery done, or even with the stone inside?

Gotta go. This has got to be a novel by now. Have a great one!

Wow! That sounds like a real pain. I don't remember having to do all that stuff before surgery-just the ekg, blood work, and ua all done at the same time. Hope all goes well and all the appointments get done.

I spent my morning driving from Orange Park up to the northeast section of Jacksonville-the totally opposite side of town but the new roads did make it an easy job. My friend dropped a pickup off for her grandson's birthday gift and then I drove her back to O.P. This afternoon was lazy, then dinner at church followed by a massage with a new therapist. Man she was tough-I'll be checking for bruises in the morning but I think she may have actually gotten down into the muscles that needed it. I hope!

Today was a great day for weather. Wanted to go to the pool, but it was only 64 and too breezy for the shoulders, then it was a day of catching and putting out fires or creating a couple of my own, all day long. Between putting out the fires and creating a few of my own, the day was shot and only got a lot of jaw exercise and not much else. I did get a lot of walking between bathroom and office done, but I didn't count it as I don't think it's anywhere near anything worth counting.

Hope tomorrow is a better day for getting exercise done and other things done besides the husband's pending surgery. What a lot of stuff one must do these days to get surgery, urinalysis, anesthesia testing, blood tests, meds checks, meds changes, and all the appointment set-ups and crap. I think I would be a case for an asylum long before the surgery. Who, in their right mind, wants to even think about it that long? I'm the kind that if I have to have it, don't even tell me about it until and hour before I have to be there.

Was impressed with the dental hygienist yesterday. Exactly what I need and after I told her my experience, she told me no worry, that was disgusting and she was sorry I had to experience it. Then set about proving herself to be a great one for MY health safety. The place is new, the entire office had every new fandangled thing invented for the most painless everything. Was very impressed.

So on with the rest of my work tomorrow. Squeezed in between doing things for the future surgery on the hubs. It's hard to be a secretary when you don't know his schedule either and they all call me to get him scheduled here, there, everywhere. For awhile, he's going to have to check with me before he makes an appointment to sell window treatment.

I had my training session at 8:30 with cardio but the cloudy skies and rain all day haven't done a thing for my motivation. Glad I worked out early. Did get a little grocery shopping done and now I'm watching Tinkerbell with my granddaughter.

It's Motivation Monday! I'm feeling better than yesterday, possibly a better attitude, too. But I just feel like a runner on the blocks waiting for the gun to fire the start of the race. I ready for it!

I've got my meals planned, and logged into SP and I've got my schedule figured out and everything is in there, as I've doubled checked. Have a few things to get done today out of the norm, but I ready to get them done, too.

What's motivating you today. What's motivating you for the day or the week ahead?

Have a great one, all! I know we can do this! Let's kick it into high gear. Get the exercise and fitness done early and done well. Eat the meals you have planned and pay attention to what you are eating so you can analyze it later in order to help yourself keep eating better and get past the cravings and the helpless feelings. Keep telling yourself that you can do this and keep putting one foot in front of the other. It's the only way we can learn and be successful. Failure is NOT an option!

emoticon because you're emoticon

The weather here was weird too. Very very cloudy , dark looming clouds. I felt weird and out of it all day. I did not eat much either.

Woke up feeling like I was half-phased and never was able to get myself together right. Ate alright, mostly didn't eat. Weather has been threatening rain all day, but haven't had any. Sky is ugly.

It was a chilly and windy day today with a little rain. It looked like it could rain all day but didn't. Got the oil changed and ate well through the day so I managed to stay on track with the party this evening. Now I'm trying to get through all my posts before heading to bed.

I know I was able to watch FitTV which apparently no longer exists as it got eaten up by some other fitness cable that has no fitness except Vald, which I can't do because I end up in a pretzel in no time. It looks like fun, but it's way to fast and it takes me awhile to learn the move, but by them, they are on the ground rolling around. Just watching doesn't help no matter how much fun it is.

Anyway, they had the Sit and be Fit vids on and you can go to www.sitandbefit.com to see their vids. Anyway, I had a friend that was having problems and I put the links on a email to her. I think she was watching them, but she never acknowledged that she was, so I left her be. I don't think she wanted to work at it, but was giving a lot of lip service to make herself feel good.

I hate to admit it, but I've been there so I know what's going on real quick.

Anyway, I agree with you - that most don't realize how many muscles you use just sitting in a chair and marching or something else. They look so easy, wave your hands around, move your ankle, but when you've got a reason to be sitting in a chair, some of those simple little moves hurt or don't move at all. Sometimes, it's all in "just move in anyway you can."

Back to the pool these days, except today. We had rain around 6am and it never looked like it was going to get past rain threats. It didn't. In fact it looked like it was going to come down with a vengeance along with a T-storm, which never appeared, but I didn't go. Had some errands to do this morning - got those done, then came home and studied instead of anything else. Was awake a lot last night, but would go right back to sleep. I was really wanting to go back to bed about 6am but managed to stay awake and doing something all day long. Tonight, I am really tired so it will feel good to go to bed tonight. I've been taking those melatonin 1 mg tablets every night and it has been helping me a lot. I am trying to build up my levels of melatonin so my sleeping is better and maybe with getting my teeth cleaned and on the proper meds, losing weight, and exercise everyday, I'll stop with the pre-diabetes 2 and learn how to do it on a daily basis so I never get it.

I think my biggest thing is not wanting to do it alone so if Bob can't do it with me - it's way too easy for me to just blow it off and I can't do that. I really have to retrain myself to be a lot more independent and just go do it.

Well, gotta go so I can finish Sparking.

A lot of our Dr offices are near the hospital and across the street is Sonny's BBQ. I admit down the street a bit is La Napolera and Burger King but they're not right next door. I think they do put them close by because they know you'll be hungry when you leave the Dr office and it's easier to grab something fast rather than go all the way home.

I'm not good at doing the Slimfast twice a day but do use it if I'm in a hurry or don't have milk for my cereal.

I do do some seated exercise. I've done Silver Sneakers by LAFitness does not offer it or any other seated exercise. When I do the church exercise we do 1 mile of a Leslie Sansone walk video and follow that with a seated video-yoga, weights, or cardio. Sometimes I will do it standing or parts of it standing if my hips are bugging me. Several of the videos I have do both seated and standing. I think some folks would be surprised at what muscles are worked by marching while seated.

Can you do or would chair exercises help? I always say, anything is better than nothing, but sometimes even chair exercises can injure if you are having health problems that are pretty invisible to others. Only you know what you can and will do, so just a suggestion.

I did the SlimFast diet for awhile, years ago when they first came out. I lost quite a bit of weight on that, but I did get bored drinking my breakfast and lunch everyday. But for a diet that is a no think diet, it does work. There are others out there to. I haven't compared any of them against anything, but I know the SlimFast works if you do it twice a day and a sensible meal at night. They didn't have any SlimFast snack or energy bars back then, they do now.

I made a batch of energy bars so when I go to the doctor next time, I can have one waiting with a bottle of water so I can eat right away, stay with something healthy and be able to bypass all the fastfood joints on the way home. I swear they put McDs, Arby's, Checkers, and Taco Bell/Long John Silver's across the street from the doctor's office. Somebody figured it out!

Anyway, I'm way too busy this morning already, so have to get on the stick in order to get it all done, then I'm doing nothing this afternoon.

Have a great one!

We used to go to Popeye's just for their onion rings which were great but they don't carry them anymore so it doesn't bother me to not eat their food. I'm not that wild about their chicken but my husband and daughter love it so sometimes I'm just stuck with it or I eat something else.

I did get my water class in-we had 25 in class today. I think people are really enjoying this new leader. I stopped at Target and found a couple pair of capris-I hate wearing the same thing all the time and I needed something to fit this fat rear of mine. I hate not being able to exercise like I used to. Guess I need to cut the calories some more or I'll never lose weight. I need to work on the shakes more for meal replacements, too. Not just once a day either.

I've never done Popeyes. I've seen their commercials but nothing about them pulls me in. I can actually feel proud that there is one Fast Food Joint I don't go to. Actually, there are many as I usually only do McDonalds, and I've been pretty good about staying away from them lately, too.

Going to try and go to the pool again today. There's no class today, but I can do the walking and maybe my strength stuff, too. Bob wants to try and go with me this morning, so we might take a crack at it and I just remembered the pool is closed on Tuesdays until around 10am because of Tuesday morning coffee.

So that plan just got changed. Guess I'll do my walk and some DVD exercises instead.

I spent another morning running in circles. I did get a nice relaxing breakfast and got the paper read before dropping granddaughter at the bus stop and then driving through the great Orange Park and Jacksonville traffic to get my daughter to work before reversing that trip and getting to the gym for my training session. Made a run into Walmart after that before coming home and throwing some ribs in the crockpot. Of course, Larry came home with Popeyes. Oh well, they'll both be there tomorrow. We have a church meeting this evening.

I know the feeling. When we bought this place we were going to take the screens on our Florida Room and put in Acrylic windows. We still haven't done it, although we have talked a lot of people around here into getting the acrylics instead of vinyls. It's like we just don't ever find the money for it as we always have something else more important to us.

We never got the t-storm we were predicted to get yesterday. And it didn't rain either. We did get our patio all cleaned up on Saturday and on Sunday we go the freezer repainted and moved into the corner of the laundry room so we could use it easier. Looks kind of nice there, especially since it has a new coat of paint, and once it is really dry, I'll be able to put our "bar" refrigerator on top of it and the TV on top of that. So it will be nicely stacked in the corner and very useful. We even have a cabinet that was built for a showroom and is basically the size of a refrigerator, deep and wide, but only counter high. It has a slider shelf in side and I found it perfect for my spices. I have so many that I use all the time, and trying to keep them organized and easy to find is ridiculous on any other cupboard. They take up a lot of space. Anyway, it's coming together and as soon as I finish reorganizing the cupboards of my kitchen, it will be even better.

So the days are full ahead. Losing weight feels great again. Making my plan for the week and sticking with it is challenging but so fun, too.

The water aerobics team is starting at 9am starting today so may go back to it. I really think I will as it seems to feel like a steady constant and I like the workouts. I can stay for the first 35-minute workout or for 1 - 3 20-minute workouts they are going to be doing after that. I think in the beginning, I'll just do the 35-minute workout. It hits all the spots and is a good oldie. There's a bunch of ladies that do this and they do the entire 1.5 hours but don't lose weight and they can't figure it out. You can't lose weight if you keep going to the fast food joints and eating more than you ate last year. Just because you are burning the calories doesn't mean you are going to lose weight, especially if you keep adding calories to your diet. One lady said she had no idea how many calories she ate in a day, but after she told me what she ate in a day I knew she was eating a weeks worth of food everyday. What her grocery bill must be!

Well, gotta go. Have a great one!

It has been cool (66 for a high, I think) and rainy off and on all day. It now sounds like it is going to rain all night. My entire lower body is sore and achy which is probably caused mostly by this weather. I need to finish up my sparking-not even looking at it until after 5pm just makes it about impossible to get everything read. I do want to have a nice patio to enjoy but first we have to fix the bathroom, clean the ductwork, get the ductwork retaped and put in new insulation. Then we also need new gutters all the way around the house so we don't have any more shifting. We also would need to probably take out at least part of the patio we have now since part of it is broken and get that redone. Not sure I have enough time or money to get that all done before I die!!

I've been feeling so much better with the B12, but I may try B2. I don't think I am low on niacin, though. The melatonin I take each night is working like a dream, if I don't get too hot. Last night woke up dripping wet. It was so soupy here all day yesterday and we're supposed to have a T-storm this afternoon. We spent yesterday cleaning the patio and moving furniture around. That patio is so clean I don't want to mess it up, but if we don't use it, it'll get so dirty again. I think I went through several rags and a bucket of Windex yesterday just cleaning everything. We have a huge entertainment center we moved out there that needs a new pain job. Once we get the paint, I'll be painting it. Need to sand it good in a few places first. We have practically rebuilt the thing since we got it several years ago.

Anyway, we want to eat dinner out there so we had to clean it just for that, but we haven't used it in months and I really hate not using it. I was going to put tile flooring out there, but I want to sell this place and I don't want to put anymore money into it than I have to. If I find some tile I like somewhere, I might get it, but probably not.

B2 is niacin. I got some on sale and will try it-can't hurt. I slept poorly again last night because of the pain from the walking on dirt even after 2 Aleve. I took another one this morning and finally after water aerobics I started loosening up and feeling better. Now I need to get on track with the food-2 really bad days on that.

I just mentioned B12 on the WaterBabies team. B2? Haven't heard about it or what it does. I was taking Biotin, which is B and doesn't specify what the complex is. I'll have to check it out. I've also been taking melatonin to boost my hormone level. Read an article on SP about a new research study they finished. Apparently, those of us that have worked night shifts, have lower melatonin in our systems, which puts us at a greater risk of getting Diabetes 2. In my quest to keep it at bay, I figured, based on the symptoms it gave, that I was a great candidate on that respect. So I've been taking that for a week. 1 mg a night. The first two nights, didn't notice anything different, but then I started sleeping all the way through.

When I would up this morning at 4am, it was because I was so hot and I just can't sleep when I'm hot and that bedroom is, unfortunately, the only room that doesn't get any A/C - think the vent system got screwed when they put the house together and I'm not ripping the ceiling out to attempt to fix it.

Anyway - moved into the living room which was much cooler. Now I'm ready to go back to bed.

So doing the exercises and eating better, again, is all helping me on the weight loss. I'm actually down 7.8 pounds from 3.8.13, which makes me feel great. I've been showing about 1 pound down each day. The blood sugar levels are going down and I'm just feeling better all the way around.

Have a great one!

I really hate forgetting the water bottle. It's amazing how thirsty you get when you're used to sipping all day long. You're doing great on the losing. My Dr. told me to try B2-she said that seems to help people trying to lose weight. I've been taking B12 but it hasn't done anything in the last month.

I agree with you and was kicking myself for not thinking to have a bottle of water, at least. I usually always travel with a bottle of water, but I didn't even think when I left home yesterday. So I made plans on the way home to not do that again and that was before the headache jumped in. One of those nasty ones that makes you real dizzy and nauseated, Then you are totally worthless when it is gone, but you head feels like a bubble of air. Not much functioned all day yesterday and today I'm playing catchup, which I hate. So new plans on the doctor visits. Always a bottle of water, a protein bar, which I am going to learn how to make myself, know what's in it, etc., and a place to go sit and enjoy them, close to the doctor's office so I can sit and enjoy the scenery and the water and protein. I even wrote it down so I would remember next time.

It was confirmed by the doctor that I lost 5 pounds in the last month and I lost another yesterday so I'm happy anyway! I used to keep a journal in my bathroom by the scale where I wrote the date, time, and "tonnage" down. I tried to do it at the same time everyday, but within an hour or so. But for some reason, it disappeared and I never put it back up. Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to keep track of how much I lose in a specific time and I remembered that weight journal so I'm making a new one and putting it right back by the scale. Bob want's to be on it, too, so I'm making a page for him and one for me.

I was doing the Monday weigh-ins, but now I do it everyday so I can make mid-course corrections. Working back into the plan I had when I first lost 45 pounds as it worked and I can't remember why I got off it, except someone told me their plan and some of it sounded great so I was working something that didn't work for me. Not blaming anyone but myself. I need to stick with what works for me. Learned big time - don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Still making progress when you learn something from a mess you made.

I've been taking melatonin for a week now. 1mg doses at night. Read that article on SP about how they did a study and found that people that work night shift lose melatonin, a hormone that helps you sleep. And now they think that the lower levels of melatonin put those people at a higher risk of getting Diabetes 2. My inner clock has been reputed to be broken for years from working years of Swing and Grave shifts. I didn't think it would ever get fixed, and I don't know that it is "fixed" yet, but I am surprised at the fact that I sleep all night long since I started taking the melatonin to hopefully help reverse my pre-diabetes, which seems to be going away as my BSLs are going down.

Yesterday I had a 107 BSL before breakfast, which is the lowest it has ever been first thing in the morning since I've been counting. It is steadily going down. Today I caught it a little higher but on the whole, I'm doing a lot better and feel better, too. I've also been taking Biotin (Vitamin B) and that has helped, too. Didn't ask for the B12 shot from the doctor, just taking the B12 supplements since they seem to be working well.

Back to work here. Have a great one and keep going, we'll get there! emoticon

I am hoping it raises my levels enough to

I'm not good at the fasting anymore either. Sometimes when I'm going for blood work after fasting I will have a protein bar or something in the car so I can eat right away. I think with the problem may be the pleasure zone of our brain sometimes beats out the logical part that keeps us on the straight and narrow. My eating today was not the best and my planned dinner had a problem with overcooking since I only thought I had turned the burner off.

Great doctor's report today. Everything working fine, will go back in 2 months.

Came home from early appointment feeling ill. Not sure what it is, but my head is pounding all day and my stomach is about as queezy as it could get. Seems I can't do the fasting so easily anymore. I get lightheaded and it's more irritating than anything. Got rid of the lightheadedness, but the headach and the stomach upset are still there. Rats!

Have a good one, all.

All true, KG. Especially the hunger chart I developed for my Doctor, with his suggestions. 1=not hungry, 2=sort of hungry, 3=hungry, 4=so hungry you just want to eat, don't even think about cooking or going to the store, 5=You'll eat anything that doesn't get out of your way fast enough and it's too late for healthy, binging will work, like it or not!

I'm usually not hungry or sort of hungry, but occasionally, I'll do something stupid and get to 4, rarely - can't think of a time recently - that I got to a 5, although Saturday I came close. I was hyper, shaking, sweating, and feeling like I was about 2 feet off the ground just floating around. I could feel my brain wondering what was going on. My husband bought some cookies at the strawberry field we were at (can't eat the strawberries till they are washed cuz they use recycled water and the thought of what's on those berries before they are washed with a drop of bleach, makes me ill. So I inhaled three very good homemade cookies and it didn't take long before I came back down to earth. I paid real close attention to my feelings the rest of the day because I was worried about what was going on so I analyzed everything.

Anyway, when I do my plan right and really stick to it, I do great, so why do I not do it right and stick to it - I don't know. It's one of those things that all my analyzing and thinking about has done nothing to garner an answer. Brainwashing or DNA flaws? Sometimes I don't think it matters why, but I think it would help to know why, so I could change it easier, maybe.

Anyway, it really helps to write down all that stuff, especially if you have to or want to go back and analyze what you are doing to either stick with it or change it.

Have a great one - I'm off for my walk!

Welcome to the team! I agree with Pat that you need to participate daily and I also agree with the tracking. I did my best losing when I wrote down all those things-time, food, how I felt, and also had to figure the calories, fat, protein, carbs. I would also write different comments or sayings on the page, too. It does help.

Beautysblush - you'll be doing great on SP. Just keep going.

We went strawberry picking yesterday. I didn't want any more cuz I had made strawberry jam and strawberry syrup and I was tired of all that work and figured I was strawberried out, which I never dreamed could happen to me, but I really didn't want more. So we went looking for a specific u-pick farm that sold herbs, veggies, and fruit. What we found was a dump! The computer sales was apparently done by someone who knew how to sell things via computer, but the guy selling the stuff didn't have anything but dead and dying plants and when we asked about jalapeno peppers he pointed to a pile of dead plants and said, they are over there. We found one live one, about the size of my thumb nail, hanging on one vine that hadn't given up yet. It was way too small. We just left. The driveway in was so overgrown with weeds, it was clear not many people frequented this place. The whole thing looked like an experiment that wasn't working, or at least wasn't being worked. I thought some of the ideas were very good, but still you have to work it. What he's done is put everything through PVC pipes and was doing they hydro thing. It would work, but he has to work, too.

On the way home we took a different route than on the way to the place. We found a far selling strawberries, but something was different so we drove in and asked. You picked as many strawberries as you wanted and left a donation to a charity, which was educating the itinerant children - 8000 of them in Florida. They've been doing this for a long time but they claim it's because of the budget cuts. Anyway, we picked a flat in about 15 minutes, got praised by the volunteers on our speed, and paid $5.00, which they claimed was a normal donation. Now we have more strawberries to do something with. I think we need another freezer. Going to have to do some reorganization for sure.

Anyway, another busy day for us as we seem to be getting back to normal after a long time of being out of noraml for us. Feels good, but we have a ton of work to do to make it all work as well as it did before.

Have a great one!

Welcome, Beautysblush! We're glad you are here and hope to see you often.

Here's a great motivational article. You can go to Articles & Videos, Click on Motivation, then find 7 Habits that Separate Weight-Loss Winners from Losers! You can be assured, SparkPeople has them all.

1. Winners set small goals
2. Winners take breaks and timeouts
3. Winners are proud of themselves
4. Winners take new challenges
5. Winners keep score
6. Winners are part of a team
7. Winners make it fun!

Get ideas and concepts. I would add that besides a being part of a team, participation is paramount. I have belonged to teams and done nothing but read the posts of others. It doesn't really work. So those teams you join, please, please, please, participate in them. I will not allow myself to be in more than 7 teams. Because I can't participate in all of them on a daily basis. I just don't have the time.

Anyway, glad you are here, and if you are like me, hating the food tracker even after 6 years, I found something that finally works for me. I write it all down in a small notebook, I write the meal, the time, where, and how hungry I am (My doctor wanted all that, too) Then I write what I ate and if there was something particularly important and strange about the meal. Like Birthday, or Exercise ('cuz I did some exercise before the meal).

When I have time, even if only once a week, I make sure to get it all on the food tracker. It sure does make it easier to look back and see my patterns or if I need to tweek something.

So please feel safe to jump in here whenever, daily if you wish. We find out about each other and we don't feel like the only one out here. We all experience similar things so walk the trail with friends as it makes it so much better.

Have a great one!

Hi Everyone, I am new to this group and to Sparks. I have only been here a couple times and am looking through all the pages ,reading some posts and looking at all Spark has to offer. I am impressed to see all the resources. I feel good about this program. I hope to make friends with many of you and get to know you. I will not really be able to get gung ho into the program for 2 weeks because I have out of town company and I do not feel that this is the greatest time to start my program while entertaining guest. But believe me, I will get started when they go home and I hope you will be seeing me often on here. I understand the feeling that I have read some have posted about feeling blah tired, unmotivated. I am so uncomfortable and I really want to enjoy life. I think this is a very good place to start. emoticon

How well can you move your fingers if you have more than one pair of gloves on? My dentist office now covers all the handles of anything they are going to touch with tape before they start with each patient.

Well, lunch is here so I best eat it while it's warm.

I always think, when watching a CSI type show that if I had a job like that, I'd be in a total hazmat suit all day! They use more gloves than a hygienist should use, and they have to bag and tag them as they become part of the evidence to the case.

But this one experience I had - she didn't ever change her gloves, she just added another pair over the others and then touched everything without hesitation. Her assistant sat there and watched but did nothing except take up space and I wondered what she was paid for. She's the one that should have been moving the overhead light and taking the notes as dictated by the hygienist.

Anyway I have to do something as nothing elsr i'm doing is working and its only getting worse. I can be strong and do many things without fear, but this is one that is so strong, it's taking on a life of its own and that bugs me as much as the fear.

Have a SparklingDay and a wonderful weekend!
