Oooo me too! I would love an avocado tree. When my mom was a kid she had several avocado trees! Lucky girl.

Well, at least I want to know someone with a tree. They usually can't give them away fast enough when they all get ripe.

anyways.... Mommy snacks....
I found some rice cakes made with brown rice, and they taste really good.

I love guac too, but not the cals. That is part of why I went over my cals soooo much yesterday. It isn't very filling for me so I can just eat and eat.
I'll even eat plain avocados with a little salt. I'd LOVE to have an avocado tree someday.

Lol, Meg! I've never tried it on a hot dog! I've had it on burgers though, and that IS good. :)

We don't have a Trader Joe's anywhere in this area, but Wal-Mart has a brand of guac I like--the ingredients are simply avocado, tomato, garlic, jalepeno, and lime juice. Nothing fake, nothing artificial, nothing you wouldn't put if you were making it yourself! :)

I'm a bit of a guacamole fan myself. I just found the only store bought kind that I've liked, from Trader Joes. Usually I only like fresh made, but there's actually tastes fresh.

I love guacamole on my hot dogs! I know that sounds gross, but its really good, kinda like a guacamole burger.

Love the ideas here. One of my favorite snacks when I'm missing my tortilla chips & cheese dip . . . I get the whole-grain wheat thins & dip them in salsa. Yummy & satisfying!

Hehehe, about the only way I can stand to eat raw carrots is dipped in guacamole! ;)

And yeah, it's obviously a hereditary addiction! ;)

Oh, and yogurt makes a good snack too! :)

I really don't snack very often, but I do like fresh fruit. Sometimes I'll do raw veggies dipped in guacamole, or possibly hummus. Homemade muffins are good.

Lunch is usually leftovers from supper the night before. I also do a sandwich or tortilla wrap, or a salad with chicken or turkey breast meat added.

Hummus on rice cakes is fabulous! I love the Fiber One bars!

I like to get in a lot of veggies at lunch. Either in a salad or in a stir-fry.

Black beans are great in a stir-fry, they add protein and fiber.

A nice way to get fruit in is a freshly made smoothie, made with yogurt, not ice cream. Sometimes I'll add some protein powder if I have one after a work out.

If you live by a Trader Joes, buy a bunch of stuff from there! they have the best snacky foods, that are usually healthy (well, their whole grain stuff is).

Well,
I don't have the kids eat all the same snacks and lunches that I eat because I'm eating a TON of protein right now.

lunches for kids-pb toast or pb and honey on Milton's whole grain bread (Costco), chicken nuggets and some sort of fruit

snacks for kids-Nature valley granola bars (Costco), fishies, Rold Gold wheat pretzels, fruit, raisins, Treetop applesauce

lunch for me:
1. 3.5 oz canned salmon, canned chicken, or tuna with 1 tbs real mayo, 1 slice Milton's bread, spinach, (cucumber diced in salmon also), and 1 piece of fruit
2. leftovers from dinner sometimes
3. 5-6 oz chicken breast on 2 cups spinach with 2 tbs litehouse dressing

snacks for me:
1. 1 cup 2 % cottage cheese and 1/2 of a nature valley granola bar
2. protein smoothie with 1 cup nonfat milk, 1 serving pro.powder, and 1 cup frozen berries or other frozen fruit ( I try to have this after I workout)
3. 3 oz chicken breast and fruit
4. Mountain High Vanilla Nonfat Yogurt mixed with acidopholis and 1 serving protein powder
5. Fruit or veggies by themselves if I don't have the cals left for other food

Yes, I eat a lot of the same-I know! :) I like routine.

I had chicken salad for lunch today. I love this because it is easy and healthy. For snacks I tend to eat Fiber One or Kashi bars or cereal.I also like to have fruit for my snacks because I have a hard time getting enough each day.

Snacks - fruit, veggies, string cheese, hummus and crackers or veggies, thomas' square minibagel with fat-free strawberry cream cheese.

Lunches - grilled chicken, salads, soup, sandwiches...today I made pasta & tuna salad with canola mayo. My favorite is turkey sandwich made with the Thomas' square minibagel, fat-free turkey, roasted red pepper hummus and sliced avocado...it is alittle high in fat due to the avocado.

I will stop there because it is making me hungry and supper is still cooking.

Today isn't a great day to ask, simply because I didn't have lunch food for lunch. :) I love breakfast food so I just had cereal for lunch. But I love tuna. It's cheap, low calorie and high in protein. I also like lunch meat, the only down fall is it's high in sodium. I have a few favorites, I just can't think right now. :-D I'll let you know when I think of more.

I got to thinking while meal planning after reading the blog on kids snacks....I need assistance in my snacks/lunches also. It's hard to think outside your box, and this is a GREAT place to get help on that.
So, what the heck do you guys eat??? LOL.
I had today some whole wheat crackers with a think layer of cream cheese and a chunck of imitation crab meat on top (all measured out).
There, there's my contribution for the day! LOL.
Just one more area to get our posts in, and get some great ideas!
Thanks ladies,
Dawn
