Got in several days on the elliptical this week - man do I notice a difference when I lay down at night whether I worked out or not...the restless leg thing is notably worse on nights where I didn't get in at least 30 minutes that day.

Walking still counts as exercise!

I managed another 10 minutes of walking today (Feet are feeling back to normal, but not going to push them too much)

Then tried my pregnancy yoga DVD (Pregnancy Yoga with Tara Lee). It is a UK DVD, so not sure if it's available in the States (I live in Ireland). I went through the hour long session, it was very relaxing, with a focus on breathing and stretching, rather than cardio, but I feel great for doing it and appreciated how gentle it was. It's not for people who want an intense sweaty workout, rather if you just need a bit of stretching and breathing, to loosen your body a bit. I enjoyed it, and think I will be adding it to my routine.

Been frustrating getting in exercise lately with travel and work and just being plain TIRED and HOT here in Atlanta! How are you guys doing with keeping exercise fun without overheating?

I have started splitting my workouts up - I do 30-35 minutes first thing in the morning (waking up earlier is hard, but actually seems to give me MORE energy throughout the day) and 30 minutes in at lunch. Ensures I keep my metabolism going all day - making sure to get LOTS of protein in since I am always hungry - and if I only get one of the two in, I at least did SOMETHING rather than nothing. Plus at 5:30 AM it isn't like the surface of the sun here in Atlanta!

Your gym workouts are a great inspiration! I always have my bag with me and I feel like it is all or nothing with me. Certain weeks I go to the gym everyday at lunch and other weeks I end up just doing a 35 minute walk at lunch. I need to even the two out a little bit. Your post also reminded me I haven't really been stretching at all and I need to. Keep it up - you are doing great!

ALI_P7 - I just messaged my husband to get the YouTube working on our Amazon Fire TV so I can try these workouts at home once my son is in bed. Hoping they may be a nice change-up from what I have been doing. I am 21.5 weeks and gained 11 pounds so far - a bit more than I was aiming for, but nothing tragically goal-destroying. I am really starting to "feel pregnant" in terms of movements and mobility. Like getting on the floor playing trains with my son or out in the yard with him - I forget I am pregnant sometimes and then it hits me, like Hey Stupid - this is gonna get harder :)

So much for checking in more! I've been keeping up my workouts & really want to be better about checking in! It's the way I've stayed accountable in the past.

I went to the gym yesterday & today. Monday 30 min of elliptical & some arms. Yesterday was 20 min on the stationary bike and some legs and kettlbells. I don't think I'll be doing KB's any more, it made my lower back at bit sore. I was able to stretch & it didn't bother more for long but my bump must be throwing off my form.

I brought my gym clothes to work & will be heading there again today! Rest day tomorrow!

MLBAILEY - if you haven't already check out the Jessica Smith prenatal workouts. Also most of her walking workouts are low impact & suitable for pregnancy. And she has a couple of short standing abs workouts that are good since we can lay down!
How far along are you?

Ali_P7 - I never even thought about the free youtube workouts, what great idea!! I have been renting dvds from the library and haven't really found any I like a lot (I am bad at step aerobics). Been walking or going to the gym on my lunch break at work and trying to take Noah to the park as much as possible. Pushing that stroller up hills gets my heart rate pumping like crazy. However it is starting to get mighty hot in Atlanta so I am going to have to start moving my workouts inside more :)
Keep it up Ali and great to see you on the boards!!

I joined this team when I found out I was pregnant with baby # 2 back in February. I haven't been very active on it but want to try to check in more.

I've been staying as active as I was pre-pregnancy. I've been really like that I've felt good. I just had to eliminate high impact moves.

I try to get to the gym, there is an aerobics class that I take most Saturdays. But I'm mostly an "at home" workout fan. I do a lot of Jessica Smith workouts, including her prenatal workouts (they're really good & free on YouTube!)

Yesterday I did a 15 min kettlebell workout (with a 5 lb dumbbell) and a standing abs workout. Plus some squats & planks (I hate planks! but I know i'll thank myself later for pushing through).

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and will keep checking in here with my workouts! Good luck to all the other active mamas!

Planned to take my son to the park yesterday so I could push him in the stroller for a 3 mile loop...He rode in the stroller for MAYBE a mile of that lol. However, I had my heart rate monitor on for the whole adventure - from the playground to everything else and burned over a THOUSAND calories! Holy moly! I did not expect that whatsoever. Glad I had PB&J's packed for snacks, but should have gotten in way more water than I did. My mistake. I guess being a mommy in general burns more calories than I realized :)

MRSGOFARR - just the fact that you are out and up and active is impressive and very inspiring! So happy to hear you are on the mend and enjoying those beautiful baby girls.

I need to take a cue from you and change up my gym routine to be able to spend more time with DH and DS while getting active.

That is great MRSGOFARR my dh and I used to walk in the mall every Sunday. Free parking and stroller ride for the baby.. when I had to nurse I would go over to the Hotel attached to the mall and use the sofa.. Nice and quiet and comfortable. Hope you are doing well.

I am still healing from my c-section but I did buy 2 new pair of new balance shoes to get me excited about the walking and exercising I will do this summer! Yesterday, Hubby and I walked around the mall for a few hours and that was great!

This week I've been lazy and haven't worked out but I will join my friend again next week and get our 2 or 3 days in. I should be receiving my pregnancy workout video today I hope it's not boring if it is I'll stick to hip hop abs and zumba but will modify and not over do it. I hope I stay active this entire pregnancy!

I have been hurting a lot lately. Supporting abs are not supporting very well. It hurts to stand..let alone walk. I know I really should push to at least do the 5 minutes..5 minutes is better than nothing.
I have lost 5lbs though since I have started SP again though. :)

Diedra - I laughed when I saw you posted here. Didn't you just have a baby. Look at your ready to dive in. I admire you.

I did a lot of walking around on Sunday running errands. Hope that counts....

Maybe we should have a walking challenge that you and I do together. What do you say?

GF Mommy - How are you doing?

Diedra: anything lately.

Yesterdy I did about 20 min squats and arm work in the pool and the day before that I did 20 minutes of a kickboxing workout. It felt great. Certainty seeing a change in my moods.

I am going to go do 5 minutes on the Rebounder(mini trampoline type of thing).
This is the first pregnancy that I have actually been encouraged by my doctor to exercise. All the other times I was told that it was dangerous and I needed to gain weight for the baby, that loosing weight could hurt the baby. Though with my last one, 10 months old now, I lost 30lbs throughout the pregnancy and the nurses were having a fit!

I had fallen behind on my yoga lately but did about 20 minutes yesterday! It was a dvd entitled " Yoga for your Pregnancy: Your Guide to Prenatal Fitness and A Healthy Birth With Kristen Eykel". A little fast for me, but poses weren't too hard for the segments I did.

The Jillian Michaels DVD, I think it was 30 day shred. For yoga I'm using "Element: Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga". The demonstrator is in the 3rd trimester. I really like it.

I worked out 4 days last week including a 60 minute spin yesterday! AMAZING! Now to start the week strong. How about you ladies!

Awesome, thanks! I am going to have to check it out. I didn't have sciatic nerve problems until I was further along in my first pregnancy and then really bad after birth. My son must have messed me up good if I'm already having pains now! ;)

Hmm.. I might have to look into getting a pregnancy Yoga dvd lol. I do have the SP pregnancy app for my phone and I thought I saw something about stretches for the sciatic nerve. I'll have to go back and look.

Got lots of cleaning done around the house yesterday. Vacuumed, cleaned the bathrooms, and did laundry. I also premade my breakfasts for the week. The only problem was my sciatic nerve was killing me after all that. I need to find some good stretches to help alleviate that. Anyone know of any?
