Beth,

I know what you mean but at least for now we get to see the special on the 2nd Doctor. It's Sunday night at 8pm et. It's followed by a 2nd Doctor episode 'The Tomb of the Cybermen.' I believe that is the first appearance of the Cybermen.

And if you missed the special on the 1st Doctor - they are re-airing that at 5pm et Sunday.

I can't wait for the new episodes either.

However, the first of the 50th anniversary specials airs Sunday 01/27 at 9pm et. This one is about the first doctor and is followed by a first doctor episode "The Aztecs" from 1964.

They are doing a special for each of the 11 doctors. I believe they are airing 1 per month which will mean the last will air in November (the actual anniversary is 11/23). According to my Doctor Who books, the first episode of Doctor Who was the first thing the BBC aired after they finished their coverage of JFK's assassination. Because they didn't think anyone would have watched it (due to timing), the 1st episode was repeated the following week.

Daughter and I looking forward to them.

They are also starting a special series on this Saturday (1/26-I think) covering all 11 Doctors. Might be a way for a lot of us reboot Whovians to get acquainted with 1-8.
