I SO agree!! DT will always be my favorite! He really was an amazing Doctor...I loved CE as 9, and wasn't sure if I was going to like DT, but after watching him, I was hooked! I was REALLY hoping that it would be the same with MS...I really wanted to like him, but he just doesn't do it for me...I think one big thing that didn't help was that win MS took over, SO many things changed! No characters made the transition, the TARDIS had a different feel, and the whole show was different...I admit that I am a season behind, but I honestly have to put myself in a mindset to sit and watch an episode...much of the enjoyment is gone for me....HOWEVER, I have seen seasons 1-4 multiple times, and season 4 episodes 12 (the last 10 minutes)- 14 probably at least 10 times! :D

Cheeky, check your local PBS listings for Masterpiece Mystery (On here Sunday evenings, can't say about weirdo Az time) for the new Sherlock! We caught the first episode this past Sunday. VERY COOL!

I just love how different each of the Doctors are. It seems to me that all of them have their petulant side, brash side, even heartless side at times. But I am so thrilled to have Doctor Who back and new and shiny!

I've been listening to DT at work & he & Donna just re-met at Adipose. I HAD to watch that part where Donna does the little pantomime of how she'd been looking for him. Catherine Tate is brilliant and so is Donna!

Not sure I particularly care for MS either. He doesn't seem to CARE as much as the previous Doctors did. Most of them (even Tom Baker at his looniest) at least seemed like they were trying to think things through a bit and to limit collateral damage (most of the time). I'm also finding the whole "painted-ourselves-into-another-corner-let
's-reset-the-universe" bit confusing and tiresome. Once is kind of cool. Every bloody season is another matter entirely.

I'm with you, cheeky1000. DT had an enthusiasm and a vulnerability as the Doctor that I love. Very believable and very endearing. MS seems like a sulky child. I'm trying to work up some good feelings toward him, but my heart belongs to 10. He is my treadmill/ab workout/get out of bed in the morning motivation.

See, for me it's the opposite. While I actually find myself really loving DT as a person in interviews and such, there was always something "off" about him for me as the Doctor. I've come to realize in retrospect that I think a lot of that had to do with RTD and the way he played out stories just not being my favorite, execution-wise, but the fact remains that Nine and Eleven are my favorites of the new era so far :)

Oh! Enjoy those episodes. I hope you don't have to work, so you can just hunker down and write and watch DT run around.

I have yet to see Sherlock. Not even sure it's airing in the US (or have I just managed to totally miss it?), but I've seen the DVD's on the BBCA website. I just don't want to buy them and then not like them. Time will tell. I did notice a commercial for Whitechapel which I set to record, but nothing for Sherlock.

Have fun tomorrow!

well, if it makes you feel better, i'll be watching the entire season 2 on dvd for the first time all day tomorrow while i work on my research paper (if i'm not working after all)--i've heard DT was one of the best ever, and i've seen pieces of episodes (not realizing it was doctor who at first), so i wanna go see more (no new sherlock episodes yet means i'm going into other avenues of the gatiss/moffat universe to cope--whimper).

well, i'll give him a shot.

I've been adapting to DW 11--I don't have much choice, and Rory makes it all worth it. However, lately I've been watching Season 4 again on my treadmill workout days...and I MISS DT. He just has such credibility. MS looks all of about 12, so it's hard to take him seriously. MS comes off as petulant.

Plus, I adore Donna...her sarcasm and lack of infatuation with DW make her the perfect companion. MS and Amy seem like unattended 4 year olds in the toy aisle at Wal-Mart--obnoxious! lol

Just my little vent/reminiscence. emoticon
